thinking back though, isn't the implementation of technology also accelerating? Considering how slow ideas spread when there were no languages, then how it got faster with speech, then written communication, then the libraries, then the printing press, then movable type, then radio, then television, and now the internet. As implementation speed increases, tech. advancements of the sinularity will be widespread faster.

And PLEASE make that response video next week. I look forward to it.

When you say the implementation of all of those ideas won't happen at once you're forgetting the fact that the ideas are constantly implemented as technology becomes more advanced. You're also overlooking the fact that the new technological improvements could be improvements that make it easier to introduce new improvements faster.  Also there will never really be a point where technology seems to advance at an almost instantaneous rate because there is most likely a ceiling that we will hit.

I'm willing to bet there will still be tribes of people living without technology even when the singularity hits the rest of us, granted they will most likely be in remote parts of the world or part of a culture that shuns all things tech.

The change in your video format was the reason i unsubscribed from you Dan. I forgot I was also subscribed to this channel as well, that's why I'm here. The jump cuts and the fast paced nature of your old videos made them seem much more professional.

The newer ones just looked sloppy and as though no effort was put in. I didn't watch your road trip and I tuned out while you were creating that community thing, it seemed a little like a cult to me.

Our discussion went more in the lines of

"Would immortality be sustainable? Wouldn't you die of boredom/commit suicide after a while?"

"Why do we want immortality? Is death bad?"

This is an actual field in philosophy. And I enjoy it ever so much!

I guess technological singularity means that at the moment when the ability to improve human intelligence via implants becomes available, and cheap, then we are going to have a lot more "geniuses" around who won't like doing the dirty work so many people, instead of doing the boring old jobs, will become inventors, scientists, engineers. At which point new findings and new inventions will come not from 0.1% of humans but from 50% or 80% of humans, so the jumps could be amazing...

I'm just thinking about the past in this. From the B.C. to now. Heck, from the dino days to now. Even 1900 to now, technology as you said in fact, is exponentially growing faster and faster. When the U.S. first started voting for president, you probably know how votes were tallied then more than I do, but how will that be in 100 years? Completely different, and a lot more convenient and faster. It's all about the easier and easier. That's what Apple's doing.

To me, the most solid argument against The Technological Singularity is when you talk about asymptotes. When an exponential graph of "techological advances over time" is drawn it will show that at a certain point in time the technological advances are infinite. But what happens after that moment? There is no logical answer and since most people assume that time is continuous, the concept of a Technological Singularity is not logical. Please argue against me. I would much like to be proven wrong
