At this point I personally believe Disney should have done everything to work with "Guy" since having Unions (back in those days unlike today) benefited the company as it helps bring (emphasize) the origanizational value to the pay system and a more fair pay to the workers that contributed more than say the less contributing workers. But what would you have done if you thought u had a genuine relationship with a handful of the animators AND the antagonist was there to disrupt that relationship?
Not saying Walt was perfect either but I mostly blame the leader Union guy who was fueling the fire between Walt and his workers. The "guy" (as I'll call him) was a known antagonist in Hollywood at that time who only worked to target the rising names who owned big businesses in/around Hollywood. Disney was the next unfortunate VICTIM! As Disney's animation business grew it went rather smoothly until asswipe Guy came along.
4) Yeah he was an anti-Communist so what? I guess in your head that makes him out to be a "right-winger"
Stop using Walt Disney to support your idiotic conspiracies. You people pathetically lie about him and exaggerate his life just to prop up your invisible evil boogeymans of the world and the mind control government.
Get a grip. I think the reason you tin foiled hat people do this is because you love the idea of the world being spooky even though u "hope" its not true. Sickening indeed.
@POPCANA By anti communist, he was actually simply anti-anyone left of the political center. Have your studied the McCarthy era in any detail? If you were a liberal, socially or fiscally, you were automatically considered to be in support of communist ideals. That is why "Beatniks" and other artists of the 50s were legally and socially oppressed. Mr. Disney, frankly, sided with them and vehemently opposed his animator's attempt at creating a union. There are no tin foil hats involved.
@PyroChemicals2 Oh please, during that same time Ronald Reagan was more anti-Communist than Disney was. And your hyper focusing of this part of his life, why? Both sides the Union leader (forgot his name) & the leader's minions and Walt Disney went about it all the wrong way.
I guess you don't this fact; There was many occasions when Disney was driving through the parking lot with his daughters and the workers (not that close to Disney) were shouting at him scarying his girls.
@PyroChemicals2 Walter Elias Disney was a true genius and a visionary! The world and certainly childhood is better for his creations and wonderful imagination! For little minds who don't care about truth, they talk trash about someone they did NOT know or never will get close to knowing. Take it from those who knew Walt Disney - an all American original - and you little gossip mongers can eat the bull shit...Which, in your obvious and willful ignorance, is easier than learning the facts.
(cont.) The Disney brand couldn't even be considered a corporation until the late 60's early 70's and keep mind Disney died in 1966. Like I said animation wasn't a big money maker back in those days and the Disneyland park relatively had a lot of flaws with it at the beginning. Believe it or not Disney never really a "rich" guy. He worked hard and ALL of his major successes from the beginning made it without going bankrupt because they survived on loans.
3) The reason those animators went on stike was because Disney demanded perfection. He was a bit authoritative for a number of reasons; animation back in those days didn't make profit so perfection was key plus the fact he only wanted quality. He knew only quality animation is the only way for the audience to be more receptive to longer animation movies.
4) All of Disney's entites (the studios, theme parks, shows etc..) while successful, was never considered a "corporate" state....
Dude, you have to be the most credible person on this planet when it comes to talking about Walt Disney. Your rational points only prove how one like yourself is so credible (and very knowledgeable I might add!).
Start a blog man. There's no doubt when people see the truth about this evil man they'll learn to never trust those "right-wingers" again. Disney orchestrated the biggest facist state called "Disneyland" America has ever seen.
1) Walt Disney didn't even come close to being a greedy man. Like I said he was very involved with Toys for Tots and I highly doubt that was his only charity work.
2) Where's the proof he was out of touch with reality? Every project he accomplished became a big success and the ones that didn't make it was because of his death. Disney started new industries so who's to say his EPCOT idea would've been a bust?
Delusional? Indeed. That theme park in Florida called "Disney World" was a total flop. LOL did he really think people could tap into their "dreams". LOL what a total delusional man.
A right-winger? Anybody who doesn't think those "dumbo" elephant rides (and other rides) aren't right-wing propaganda tools are complete idiots. Uh duh those rides are clearly conservative biased.
A rat? Of course he's a rat. When the animators went on strike only real men oblige to their demands.
I think walt disney started out a good person but got too involved with in his business which turned him into a power hungry tyrant and made him lose his sanity in thinking that his empoyees were commies who were out to get him.
@DODPHOTOGRAPHY Not a load of shit. When the animators went on strike he accused them of being "Communists" and attempted to rat his own workers out to the federal government by becoming an FBI informant. Don't get me wrong, he was a talented, creative, ambitious man but he was just as delusional and out of touch with anybody's needs but his own as the rest of corporate right-wing America.
@PyroChemicals2 Yeah because as we all know the 1950's Disneyland big machine corporation was "raping" the poor/middle-class and wasn't really a hit among the 4 to 9 years olds crowd. Yes, Walt Disney was soooooo out of touch with the kids BUT HIS OWN!! He was a very greedy man. His visions for EPCOT was the greediest of them all!! You see when Walt himself designed the Toys for Tots logo and his charity work with them (word is) it reallly was to promote Disneyland!!
