Hey people, if your mommy, daddy or grandma or grandpa or uncle or friend or whomever leaves you an organ or piano keep it long enough to pass it to your own children. They aren't useless heirlooms just because you don't play it. Maybe with pianos it's a little different because perhaps they can continue to be crafted in certain numbers per year, but the electronic organs of the past simply can never be manufactured again to the high standards of the 30's-late 60's. Digital cannot duplicate them

The fact he is murdering it has nothing to do with the fact the piano has no legs. He is rushing, stuttering, and butchering it. I can play it, and I wouldn't really call myself a skilled pianist. It takes a skilled pianist to play the whole thing, properly, not cherry pick the friska out and play it faster than he is capable. I guarantee everyone thumbs-upping you, aswell as yourself, either aren't pianists, or are poor pianists, who can't see how awful this is.

I've only been playing the piano since probably October of 2010, so I don't even consider myself a pianist. I do however, consider myself a trumpeter, seeing as how I've played the trumpet since I was ten. Any musician, good or bad, should be able to tell that he is enjoying himself, and that's all that matters. I may not be good at playing the piano, but I enjoy it. So fuck off.

My point is simple; this is typical of certain players, they take something far above their own ability, rush it, miss notes, stop and start, and only learn the "cool" parts they heard on Tom and Jerry, then post a video on the internet, to which pianists facepalm and to which the rest of youtube laps up like dogs on heat. All of the above has nothing to do with the fact he is kneeling down. That won't affect him rushing, stopping, missing notes.

@RowsOfHouses I dunno, I'm a pianist and a piano that's beat up, out of tune, w/ crappy action(?) and no legs forcing me to kneel would definitely cause me to miss notes, stop, etc. Rushing does increase the likelihood of mistakes but as acheface mentioned he's having fun not playing for a professional orchestra. I'm sure you view it as some kind of degradation of the classical genre, and I understand this view, but intent is just as important as what's played. A musician should know that.

The reason my comments are completely lost on the uploader and others hating on me is because they probably don't recognise the piece (and the classic that it is) that the lad is clearly *trying* (and failing) to play. Title this vid with Hungarian Rhapsody no.2 and watch what happens when musicians watch it.

@RowsOfHouses I recognize the piece, I've played it before. It's a beautiful piece. But when you find a piano on the side of the road, you don't exactly have time to prepare a piece in its entirety. Nor do you necessarily want to. He wanted to try the piano out, a few lines from an epic Rhapsody popped into his head (probably from Roger Rabbit or another cartoon that only included the Fresca), and he tried it out. Nothing wrong with that.

But you seem to be going under the notion that Classical music only belongs to those who are learned, driven to perfection, or take in Classical from "pure" sources. That kind of mentality is why so many people stop learning piano or only parts of works. Classical is just another genre of music, and music should be enjoyed by those that can enjoy it. It's not simple at all, really.
