  • one thing i dont get about the idpa classifier is why dont they just have the person draw to weakhand when doing any weakhand shooting

  • Now that's some nice shooting. Love the XD-M

  • Great shooting! I just got a XDM 40 3.8 and love it

  • Do you mean the gun? It was a test gun. We have an XDm9 we're testing right now that is definatly a keeper.

  • did u order this or buy it

  • Comment removed

  • OMG !!! Why are you filling your magazines on the clock?

I haven't tried the 9mm XDM yet, but I am sure you will love it. I have only held it and I love it.

  • That was part of the penalty for bringing an auto to a revolver match. It was a ton of fun but I'll tell you this, you have no idea how long it really takes to load a mag until youre being timed on it. They also made us hand load one shot at a time for 6 shots/3 bad guys. That was a bit of a pain digging out the rounds from my pocket.

  • OK so here goes; I broke in my XDM 9mm last week at an IDPA match and trust me it was a pain. The match was revolver friendly which means if you brought an auto youre screwed, but she functioned flawlessly. The recoil is about as harsh as my Airsoft training pistol, and its accuracy is the best Ive experienced out of a stock gun hands down. My time was still high but thats what happens when you load your mags on the clock.

  • Yes, it was a 40cal, you are correct.

  • this vid was out before the xd-m 9 was released so if it is indeed an xd-m, which I've no reason to question, it'd have to be a 40

  • What is the name brand of the holster that you are using.

  • I hate answering for other people but I know that he's using a Blade-Tech. Great holsters they just take some time to make.

  • IDPA scoring is based on a system called Vickers Count. The elapsed time for the shooter to complete the stage is the "raw time." One half of one second is added for every point down from a perfect score, and time is also added for procedural penalties, to create the final score for the stage. Hence, the "down (whatever) number" terminology when scoring.

  • The torso area of the target that surrounds the "-0" zone (a lung shot, for example, or a spleen shot)is worth four out of five points, and is called as "down one." The outer periphery of the target is worth only two out of five possible points, and is called as "down three."

  • The maximum value of any hit on this target is five points. The 8" diameter circle in the upper chest, or the head of the target, each get this maximum value. Therefore, if the scorer calls "down zero," it means there are no points down from perfect, and the shooter has achieved a perfect score.

  • When mas was saying "the shooter is down" this or that was he referring to how many bullets missed the killzone or what?

  • I heard the safety office call you "brother", are you a LDS member. It's a trivial question, but I've been surprised at the amount of members in our shooting sport. Cheers and great shooting!

  • Nope, just a term of endearment.

  • The reason there are so many of us shooting with you is because most of us are Eagle Scouts, so out door activities are what lifes all about. Plus we're strong supporters of our 2nd amendment rights. I just started IDPA about a year ago and it's a blast. The people I shoot with are some of the best people you could meet. I've been reading John articles for a long time though.

  • Another reason I frgot to mention is that John Mosses Browning was Mormon. Shooting just comes natural I guess.

  • Follow through on the last target, man. Excellent job shooting.

  • anybody know what he's shooting? looks to me like a 9mm but could be a .40

  • Yup, it is.

  • Is the man talking Massad Ayoob by any chance? I think I recognize his voice from Personal Defense TV.

  • great pistol, great shooter.

  • No, it does not have a magazine disconnect safety.

  • does that gun have a magazine disconnect safety?

  • lol now if i could shoot as well as you do john, i did find i shoot much better with the XDm than i do with my buddy's Sig 220 .45

  • John, I have been fortunate to train with coached a lot by Mas and the rest of the gang here. Practice, practice and more practice.

  • great choice!! i bought an XDm last weekend at a gun show near Killeen TX, i fired it that day and loved it...great buy!!

  • Nice shooting! Thanks for posting this.

  • are you using the holster that comes with the gun or do you have a special one? Since the gun is relatively brand new I'm having trouble finding manufacturers that make it for the xdm.

  • The holster I am using is a Blade Tech for the standard XD. The holster does not fit the M correctly it is tight. I would not recommend it for regular use. The one we have found to fit good is the Blackhawk CQC.

  • thats waht i want to do it be fun as hell

  • The shooter is John Strayer. Massad Ayoob is running him through the classifier.

  • Was that Massad Ayoob?

  • Nicely done!!!

  • Thanks for the compliment.

  • I do like the XD-M. I have swapped the the XD line of pistols finding that they fit my hands better than the other polymer pistols. The XD-M is just that much better.

  • What sites are that model, they come with 3 diff. styles? also i the new M series still 6 o'clock aiming?

  • All of the XDM's that we have recieved have had the standard 3 white dot sights on them. They are not the std XD sights, both front and rear larger and serrated. Six o'clock still holds true.

  • I can't believe that I'm the first one to comment on this one. This is a great vid. I hope that new shooters get a chance to see this for the safety, and skill. By the way how do like the M series?
