I have the problem that when i put my HDMI cable in my ps3 system i get white sparkles in-game this does not happen by the home menu.

when i turn all of the graphical options like 720p 1080i of except 1080p the problem is gone. but now i cant play 720p games

seems to me like you need a whole new mother board. it has nothing to do with the hard drive, its the mother board, the same thing happen to mine. i sent it to the Sony company.

Those of you who are having blank screen problems, turn your ps3 off. Then, hold your power button for for ps3 until it beeps once again after the first beep. This resets your video output settings to factory. As for you, video maker, I suggest u put it into recovery mode and restore your firmware to 3.60.

You hold in the power button until it double beaps and it will go in to recovery mode it will give you 6 options I clicked on reset system and now it works fine but you have to make a new account and everything you have will be deleted

i have a problem on my ps3. i searched EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET AND NOONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM. after the latest update, i started up lbp2 one day and i was disconnected from psn, i couldnt sign back in. when i got off lbp2 i could connect to psn, keep in mind i have 100% internet connection to my wireless linksys router. it worked PERFECTLY never any problems for a year, anyways three days later my ps3 wouldnt go online at all and after a few tries it connected but disconnected again. HELP!

@gamer1758 hm try to turn it on from your controller there is a secret system settings for it.. that you can get to from the on button..hold it til it has 2 beeps..i think...and then a third one then it should bring you too a secret menu and tehn go down to restart ps3...hit that and re do your settings and everything.and your ps3.should be back to normal..but at least your ps3 is still working i got the yellow light...you gotta be extra carefull this time man keep at it

simply call the sony number on the back of the box and if you get forwarded to the right person he/she will help you fix it. happened to me and the guy saved my life. btw had my ps3 for 3 and a half years now and that was the only problem that just recently happened.

@XtremeGold555 yours is over heating , needs the the heat sink taking off , clean all the old heatsink paste and aply a thin even amount of decent paste . if it didnt turn on at all and just flashed the lights and beeped then the motherboard needs baking . theres vids on youtube . ps3 red light .

u say u take care of it but its balancing on top of a magnet in the sun. sun will heat it up and magnet in old tv will do wonders for it. magnets are good for the device they are in but pull at other devices so u shouldnt stack and give at least a little space between electronics

When I turn on my ps3 I go straight to my sign in name and when I select my name so that I may proceed to the main menu it just has a blank screen with a clock like thing up in the upper right hand corner of my screen. @rockyson990 i know why, this happened to me too...... its only in the old versions , ihave the 60gb...i tried to figure out what happened and found tht the switch between february and march there was a time glitch that screwed the psn up..... but they said they are working on it and it should be better within the next 24 hours

Similar issues for me, sometimes I will randomly get a black screen with audio cut off once in a while, and when i try taking my a/v cables and put them back in, it don't solve issue, so in order for it to work I have to shut it down, it won't just shut down the green light don't blink so I gotta hold it down and a weird winy creeky noise happens right before it shuts off.

If you are under warrenty you should take it to Sony and let them look at it. If it's not under warrenty you will have to pay $139.99, they will fix or replace it. I personly think you have a hardware issue maybe From overheating, or a faulty unit. My ps3 has issues also. You should definatly get it repaired if your under warrenty.
