Hmm, very disappointing. It doesn't track live with the camera movement, you take a picture and it inserts the santa into the frozen image... but it's a frozen image. I want it to track and insert the objects **as I move the camera around** like the other AR apps ... It's a step in the right direction...
Hey there. Thanks for the feedback. "All the other AR apps" using the video camera are also using a hack. Untill now apple doesn´t provide the video recording API. So, a foto based app is the only possible solution at the moment. But you are right with complaining about the "silhouette santa". We fixed it! Best regards, J.
Yeah, I came across that info about the lack of direct camera API in another YT vid "ARf". That's too bad that Apple is so short-sighted and overly-restrictive, it typically makes for a more stable product but restricts innovation outside of their campus.
I like the AR direction and realize (now) that you had to make concessions in order to have it in the App Store. Sorry for misplacing the blame on you guys. Do you know if Apple has plans to open up video API?
Well, unfortunately I have no update for the video API plans of apple. But I think we are not too far away... And no problem for criticising us. As long as it is constructive and polite, I really appreciate feedback like yours. In an emerging tech there is nothing better than recording user experience to create better and better applications. I hope you stay tuned :)

Also after returning to the app, all I see is the masking layer without the 3D santa drawn on top. So, it's just a silhouette.

The first commercial augmented reality app arrived on the iPhone. And WOW: it's for free!
