please help me fellow retrosound users. i understand the syth gives us the different sounds but what would i need to purchase to acheive fantastic sounds and catchy beats like the ones where listening to many thanx.
I tested the Cheetah MS6 in Frankfurt many years ago.I was blown away. It has the same chip as the Matrix 1000.But its almost impossible to get one, that's why I bought a M1000 and I'm very happy with it. For the stereo sound I just use an FX processor. I think that's enough.
I think I read in the online manual that this machine has a feature called "oscillator sync", which closely resembles the lead used in "Why Can't This be Love". At least the oscillator sync in my Roland JX-8p closely sounds like it.
Awesome. I've been lookign at reviews and patch banks, and there are sooooo many sounds that have the words OBxa before them. Some of them are just simply called the patch number on the OBxa! I read one review that said something along the lines of: "If you like Rush, Van Halen, or any classic Oberhiem sounds, you'll love this." :D
Yeah - exactly. I use two of these as one stereophonic synth, big difference! The sound has the same power but is more detailed. Additionally I have the Access hardware controller that controls the most important functions such as waveform, envelopes, filters, LFO - unfortunately not the matrix and not portamento. Anyway - this system has the price of many VAs but is really powerful and has perfect Oberheim character. Love it.
Aw crap. I keep forgetting that this thing only has a mono output.... CRAP. Is there another way around this other than using two Matrix 1000's? Like use a Stereo cable, one with two black bands on it instead of one with only one band? Also, could I use my KORG R3 to controll the LFO, cuttoff, portamento, resonence, etc? And then a 61-key MIDI controller controlling that?
No way - you won´t get a pseudo stereo. But where´s the problem? Using two Matrix means that you have an ultimative, very powerful analogue synth, still at a reasonable price. you´d begin with one and later on add another one. - Here we come to a real disadvantage. This synth is old and Midi was very young then. You can´t control parameters through midi messages, you have to send sysex messages - what is not easy at all. But it works (with sequencer or programmable midi matrix).
Well, Money is kinda tight for me.... I could Always download the editor software that's out there... And a mono out isn't too bad I guess. I'd only go through my SINGLE speaker mono amp anyway....
You won`t get a better analogue synth for that money, for sure. And you still have the ability to make it even more powerful. The stereo solution is kinda luxury, but if you have a mono amp it doesn´t matter anyway. You would not hear the difference.
Not too familiar with this module so I have a question. Is the sequencer part of this unit? Or is there a separate sequencer being used? Anyone with this info let me know.
I'm more familiar with moog, arp, and modular synths but, I've looked at these units many times and considered getting one.
Oik!

The Matrix-1000 is sequenced over Midi by the MFB Step64 step sequencer and transposed by the Yamaha DX7

Sounds incredible!
Does anyone remember the Cheetah MS6 analogue synth module?
I had one of those it sounded very much like this, the bass on it was extrordinary,a really fat and very warm sounding machine, hugely underated.

Watch out this filter monster!
Some of patches remind me something like "Voodoo Ray" (A Guy Called Gerald).
Delicious. <3

Great sounds. Does anyone know which keyboard(s) Seja Vogel (Regurgitator) uses? These sounds are very similar.
