mister luva keep it rockin mista luva keep it rockin mista luva keep it rockin and swing.. lol. thats all that went thru my head when hearing the beat. think it was shaggy? lol
Ok let me tell yall like it is about THIS SONG. It was made by Roy C and the Honey Drippers who was his backup band at the time. They were Michael L on Horn, Arthur D on Guitar, Larry M on Lead Guitar, Fred B on Bass, Morris E on Drums, and Ron H on Keyboards. All out of N.Y.C Just so you know I WAS THERE.
Marley Marl was one of the pioneers of sampling in hip hop. He was the first to sample a breakbeat and reprogram it, which he did with The Honey Drippers' "Impeach the President" breakbeat on the MC Shan single "The Bridge" from 1985.

ahh man!!.. I cant even imagine how many times I've heard that same drum break in soooooooooo many hip hop songs lol....well its cool to actually know where so many hip hop groups have sampled it though =)
you've had that record HELLA long, haven't you? Anyway, there was another group calling itself the HoneyDrippers and included Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.
no they didn't u pretty clueless..peeps were rockin the 808,909,dmx, linn drumm etc...no samplin beats, straight up original hardcore shit.. Doctor JR Kool 'That's Deep' from '86 that 1 of the classic pre-samplin hiphop sureshots..
the beat samplin started after that...better ask primo, pete rock, marley marl..they'll tell ya kid..1987-96..that the boombap era.
What do you mean... Fresh Prince and Jazzy - As We Go, My Buddy Audio Two - Top Billin Ice Cube - Gangsta Fairytale PT 2 Big Daddy Kane - Put Your Weight On It Eazy-E - Eazy Duz It N.W.A. - Kamurshol, Gangsta Gangsta Slick Rick - Moses Run DMC - Back From Hell 2Pac - Rebel of the Underground EPMD - Total Kaos The D.O.C. - Mind Blowin Masta Ace - Go Where I send Thee Those all came out between 1987-1996 and all sampled Impeach the President...
yes everybody knows these joints...all i was sayin is before that hiphop was better when nobody was samplin beats..planet rock style hiphop..1982-86 best period ever.
a famous example is run dmc's sucker mc's from '83..simple track,no samplin but still one of the best.
@sweepee4pres -- A lot of people were using live bands and recreating original breaks and grooves....Sucker MCs was a re-created by of the song called 'Action' by Orange Krush. If it wasn't for Marley Marl sampling a drum snare by accident....who knows.
The "Sugar Hill/Enjoy" bands were no longer needed from 82 to 86 as the tr-808,DMX,Linn drummachines replaced real live drums..i call it the electro hop era.
Than in 86/87 production changed big time with the introduction of the SP-1200 & MPC60 sequencers/drumsamplers..
My initial point is that during the electro-hop era hiphop was at it's best.
@sweepee4pres -- I like how you said "planet rock style hiphop" as an example of non-sampled hip-hop, when in fact "Planet Rock" is built around a sample of "Trans-Europe Express" by Kraftwerk.
I thought Incarcerated Scarfaces as well, but the drums for that song are Gladys Knight & The Pips- Who Is She. Listen to the beginning of the song and you'll hear it. You can find it on here
One of the most sampled songs in hip-hop and the music world as a whole, apparently even The Rolling Stones used it lol... Who would've guessed that a song about Nixon could be so popular? :)
