  • im using these on my tryke, using a 12v 7 amp battery, i used another single 12v led Parallel to the brake swich to give a tail light/brake light effect. really cool light for home project. i recommend this product, not cheap, but definitely worth it

  • i think i got it. i did the led wires and connected them to battery a nin volt. and a toggle. IT actually works. im using it now to my tv and to my electric bike... 9 volt is better, only for space wise... 12 is better fro ellumination!!! Thanks.now to ry the ones that r broken seeif i can get those to work....solder

  • can 2 led lights be connected to a 12 volt battery.and have then work from that battery.? its a car battery im tyring to do this to. i know one works but id like 2 or more, or will it just not works. i want to save space and problems when disconneting.. can it be done. thanks for any help. right now i have to use 3 seperate batteries for each light. which is a hassle.... am i doing something wrong?

  • @gormbygallo - Yes you can connect two or more. One way is to connect all of the positives together and then to the battery. You can also connect the first Strip of module (LEDs) and then connect the others to the end of the first (in series or daisy chaining them).

  • How do I learn wiring for Solar, and Flexible LED"S?

  • @robinrwilsonsauls - To use these with solar, you first have to see if your panels output 12VDC or 24VDC. If it is 12VDC then you can connect directly. If not then you would use a battery and connect to the battery. So the solar panel charges the battery and then the LEDs connect to the battery.

  • can i use a battery to power them so i can put them on shoes?

  • @funnycookie360 - Yes, you can use a 12VDC battery or a battery case with 8 AA batteries in it then run a wire to the LEDs on your shoes.

  • @funnycookie360

How would i connect the led strip to the 12VDC battery or a battery case?

    thanks for replying

  • I ALSO WHAT TO USE THESE LIGHTS FOR A HOLLOWEEN COSTUME...

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW MUCH ARE THESE LIGHTS?

PLEASE SEND ME THE LINK !

    THANK YOU!!

  • @Nenabellisima1 - These will usually be around $9.95/ft and there are discounts at 8 feet and then again at 16 feet. Here is the link: I can't post a link so go to the link above then click on flexible led in the menu.

  • @LEDDistributors how much batteries do i need to power about 10 feet of this?

  • @rawrableist - You can use eight AA or AAA batteries. This will give you 12 Volts DC. They will also light up with a 9 volt DC battery. You can use other batteries, but the smaller the battery the less total hours of light you will get.

  • @LEDDistributors

    Hey

Well i want to buy on of these strips .... now my question :

I have a RC/Car charger with many different connectors / one of them would fit into the rgb controller --- soo can i also use it as power supply ?

  • @drdrdr13 - Sorry for the late response, sometimes we don't get all of our e-mails. In answer to your question: Yes, as long as the power is 12 Volts DC.

  • ...i want to add this to a costume but i want to add a on/off switch. is that possible? where must the switch be located? thxu for your time :)

  • @SteveSabbai - Yes, it is possible. you would connect an on/off switch in line. You can connect it on the negative wire. The switch can be a slide switch, push-button or toggle.

  • will this work on a stereo set up run to the speakers

  • @Gtbomb1 - Yes, I am not sure of the exact connection but I believe if you connect to the speakers input, the lights will flash to the beat. I would test first.

  • @LEDDistributors When I put 12 strips of 5050smd, 18 leds long, on an aluminium plate, couple of colours, will that not get to hot? Cause they get quite warm, the plate.

OR is this because it is a spool actually??? *imagine all the strips, isolated from the plate, but the aluminium is a conductor.....

The plate is quite warm, but I can`t measure any voltage or anything on it. Or how warm are these leds allowed to become? The plate is hot, leds not really so much.

  • We produce a wide range of flexible strip light too

  • sodder

    lol

  • You Yanks seem to revel in your destruction of the English language! Even with the nastiest of head colds it is SOLDER - where did "sodder" come from???

  • How long does a foot of flexible LED strip last? Because I got a strip from one supplier, and it worked great for 4 months, then it started to flicker occasionally. The first 3 leds in the strip would light up, but the remaining leds always flickered. Checking the connections didn't help. The leds are permanently embedded into the strip, so can't do nothing except trash it.

  • @tulebox - LED Strip lighting is rated for 50,000 hours. Thats about 6 years running them 24 hours a day. We have some installations that have been up for over 4 years and still going strong. I think your LED strip might be faulty or maybe it shorted out. The flashing sounds like they are connected to 12 volts AC, but you said that they worked fine for 4 months. Maybe you power supply has gone out on you. I hope this helps.

  • Hey there i would like to install this in my car in runs off a standed 12V car battery.

How can i do this do i need some type of inverter or do i just cut the wire on the controll box and put re to red and black to black .

    Thank you

  • So i want to put these along my gaming entertainment center (on bottom of shelves) to make it stand out in the dark. If i seperated enough leangths and put them along the shelves , Is there a power adapter that i can plug into the wall? instead of wiring it up to say, a 12v battery? Im trying to pimp it all out and this would work much better than my comprimise (x-mas lights lmao)

  • @DarkSpawnProductions A 12V power adapter will work fine for your project. Let us know how it goes.

  • @LEDDistributors I have a 25 by 15 cm led panel, with 12 flex strip 5050 12 leds, so 144 leds total. Do I need to cool this plate, or is this not nessesary?

  • @ikelleners - I would do a touch test. Once you turn the panel on, touch the LEDs. They should be warm to the touch. Recheck periodically. If you feel that they are getting hot then you might think about cooling them. There are a few ways of cooling LEDs. You can use fans or heat sinking. It's ideal for all electrical components to run cool. The cooler they run, the longer they will last. So also take into consideration where the panel will be installed and how long it will be on during the day.

  • @LEDDistributors The leds themself are not warm at all, just the plate itself gets warm I felt. I was almost scared I made a spool xD

Imagine a metal plate, all the conductors running over it... But I found no voltage in the plate.

Just the warmth from resistances and overall warmth just rises up. The aluminium is only a heat `loss` So you think I am ok then?

If the leds not warm themself, but the aluminium distributes the heat away.....

I only concerned, they so many leds, so much heat...

  • Those red and black cables that you used, are they the same as the speaker wires to a sound source, sorry i'm kinda new to this.

  • @alanr1995

We used 24 gauge stranded wire on this video. I believe that speaker wire is 24 gauge. You can use 22 or 20 gauge as well. It can get difficult to solder, if the wire is too thick.

  • Wow, thanks, I was looking for something like this, now I know how to solve my problem. Great video. :D

  • can i ask i have recently bought some strip lighting with a simple 12v AC power supply and the leds are constantly flickering. Any ideas why? do they have to run off DC power?

  • Yes, they are supposed to run on DC power. Since AC is Alternating current, this will cause the LED strip to flicker. They will also fail in a short period of time, so try not to run them on AC.

  • Flexible LED Strips would look nice for hallways

  • Thanks for this video!! I had an idea of what I needed to do.... But it's really nice having somebody demonstrate it in a video! I'm planning on putting some of these strips inside my car.

    Thanks for the video!

  • Its called solder not sudder

  • @TacticalSkum do you actually pronounce the L when you say solder?

  • Nice work! anyways, Where did you get the Flexible LED Light Strip from? Ebay? thx!
