Yes you are supposed to drag it! your trying to imitate a crawfish, so there for sweeping and dragging your jig on the bottom. what do you think a crawfish is doing down there?? He isnt
@6thSenceFishing you dont only drag football heads...thts meant around deeper ledges /structures like tall wood...i like to "hop" my football heads off bottom or suspended...you dont necessarly have to drag them
fail....if your dragging it use a swim jig.......why bother with a football jig. football jig is made to stand at a certain angle in the water and yourt supposed to jig the jig not drag...fail tip!!!!
@damianraver Yes you are supposed to drag it! your trying to imitate a crawfish, so there for sweeping and dragging your jig on the bottom. what do you think a crawfish is doing down there?? He isnt jumping up and down goin "Eat Me!!! Eat Me!!! so thats why you drag it sonny!. And another thing why in the hell yould you drag a "SWIM" jig??? Especially in the winter time when the bite is slow and your trying to get your bait around fish, you swim it with slow speed reel to attract those fish.
Ya see sometimes thats a good way to work a football head but 95% of the time slow drags when the water is colder,Higher hops when there feeding up(fall) shakes, shakeing if your dealing with spawning fish or lathargic fish. What your doing is just basicly casting a jig well swimming it like you said everybudy works them diffrent i perfer s lower jig prestation.
Very good advice.
