The reason the MiG emits smoke is because the type of fuel it's using. If they change to a more higher quality and more expensive fuel then no more smoke..but for normal flying during training they use lower quality fuel to save cost..

RMAF MiG-29 pilots have done some of the highest fying hours in the Mig. Higher than even some Russian pilots. There is something very macho about the MiG-29, it's not Fly By Wire and harder to fly than a F-18 or F-16 both of which are Fly By Wire. The fact that these pilots can perform such feat speaks volumes of their skills.

@nurimanjusuf Yes ...their pilot was legendary..but in couple of year MIG 29 also will be legend with new MRCA replacement...it could be Typhoon, Rafale or F18 Superhornet.

I don't trust Russian made aircraft. Look at what Israle did to the Egyptian, the Syrian, the Jordanian and the Lebanese Air Force. And also look at what the Americans did to the Iraqi Air Force in two wars. These are all powerful air forces, 1000 times more powerful than the Malaysian Air Force, Singapore's Air Force will kick Malaysia's Air Force for sure.

@BrainstormerXV Its depend how pilot operate their fighter....think it...for example, if X country have powerful and modern aircraft like F-15 but their pilot less experience to operate their fighter and Z country have old Mig-29 but their pilots have a lot of experience and if both of them are in dogfight..the chance to Mig-29 pilots to shot down F-15 is high compare than F-15 pilot with less experience...so..think about it...

MIG-29s are so smoky...very bad in a 1v1 (or any) dogfight...dont need radar to detect it...just follow the long trail of smoky engines!!! LOL!!
