The Marines are a Corps which the army has many corps. Im in the army in the XVIII airborne corps at fort bragg. While surely basic training was super easy for me, many struggled. Most kids grow up with no organization,chores or respect these days. They sit on the couch eating cheetos and playin call of duty then join expecting it to be summer camp. The marines are stricter sure.. They are looking for "a few good men". The army is much bigger and has more seats to fill.
I got out of the army because they train soldiers to be soft, soggy, and weak minded. I wish the MARINES werent so strict on knee surgeries, then maybe my time in the military would have ment something!!! Basic training was too damn easy. I saw a drill sergeant carry a duffle bag off of the bus that belonged to a PVT...WTF?

The Army is more about creating an "Hybrid" like soldier instead of just a pure Jarhead like the Marines, LOL. U can't have both ways. U either concentrate solely on Knowledge or Muscle. But u can balance the training process 50/50, Right?

They asked on the last night there, what did we get away with. Shit, everybody was too scared of them to try anything.
Honestly, it's the quiet drill sergeants that you should watch out for. You piss one of those off and you will never do so again. You will get smoked until you puke and then some. During this, there will be little to no yelling; just calm instruction while you get smoked for hours. Quiet drill sergeants = sith lords.
As shown in this segment, the beginning of the Army boot camp is softer than the 3rd Phase of the U.S. Marine Corps boot camp. I mean, this just doesn't get more relaxed and stress-free.

USMC seemed like a lot of yelling. While US Army actualy had a reason for what they were doing. Not a commentary on the respective branchs just the video. Hats off to anyone who has earned the right to wear the uniform Soldier or Marine.
@Peabush former marine here...the usmc drill instructors voices are actually permanently like that. no joke. during training, they are actually instructed to destroy their own voices to make "new ones". That's why some, but not all, sound like frogs. It's quite intimidating at first, but sounds cool after you're around it for a while. either way, all the DI's are some bad mofo's

You wouldnt take a department of the Navy, and put them in a theater the Navy could not take the fight to. Also, the Corps is a smaller branch than the Army, thats why there were more Army boots on the ground. Marines were in the game, fought, died there just like everyone else.

Honestly, it's the quiet drill sergeants that you should watch out for. You piss one of those off and you will never do so again. You will get smoked until you puke and then some. During this, there will be little to no yelling; just calm instruction while you get smoked for hours. Quiet drill sergeants = sith lords.

@Peabush former marine here...the usmc drill instructors voices are actually permanently like that. no joke. during training, they are actually instructed to destroy their own voices to make "new ones". That's why some, but not all, sound like frogs. It's quite intimidating at first, but sounds cool after you're around it for a while. either way, all the DI's are some bad mofo's

You wouldnt take a department of the Navy, and put them in a theater the Navy could not take the fight to. Also, the Corps is a smaller branch than the Army, thats why there were more Army boots on the ground. Marines were in the game, fought, died there just like everyone else.
