This was originally posted with the original song but b/c of labels and copywrights I had to change audio (actually took a bit of fighting - like they were trying to claim the visuals too, not NIN but label or label lawyers) so yeah - at least I'm able to use a glorious pub dom song by them

I can hardly believe it's one of your first videos...I'll have to see your other ones. The lip-synching is like PERFECT. This video was the first one here on youtube which caught my attention when I started to watch The Great Below videos! I really love the shadow plays in it and the pictures of the endless ocean. The endig with the sinking man was brilliant. I really loved the atmosphere of the video, which transmitted the song's spirit for me. Really great job, five stars!

Alright. Now that I've calmed a little and watched it a little more, there are things I would like point out. ^^ So I hope you don't mind critique.

I'd say to emulate Trent's face as much as possible, keep to the profiles. Those seem to capture it best. It hides a lot of things that I noticed, such as facial structure, and the play of shadows has a nice mysterious effect; something that's very prominent in this song.

I would have much rathered to see the man on the rock standing, rather than kneeling. Even with his arms spread. It gives a dramatic image, and seems to capture the singer's desire to embrace his end. Crouching made him seem somewhat secluded and hesitant. Although his neck was straight, and he still had a strong demeanor. So that's good.

Two last things: I'd suggest to keep the angle in which you have an image of the singer from down, looking up. Once again, it gives you a stronger facial structure, enhancing emotions. Although I wouldn't stick to it. The beginning profile was also a very nice shot. Finally, eyebrows. They are a core part of expressing emotion, especially when the audience cannot see the eyes. I'd believe you'd want to make it less of a pleading expression (eyebrows furrowed up), and angrier.

Trent's an angry person, and was very much angered and hurt when he made this (I would believe, from what he's said. xD). So I'd make it a more menacing face, rather than a sorrowful, nostalgic one. You seemed to get it when he was yelling. Otherwise, the entire theme and feeling of loss was very much portrayed in the film. I'm sorry if you didn't like my critique and suggestions, however I'm excited so much that I want to help achieve his emotions perfectly (yay, romantics!). Good luck.

critiques very much appreciated - sadly this was done so long ago (like almost first video done at northwestern) that it is way beyond redoing - however I agree with most of it. One thing I plan on changing in the future is the quality of the last shot of the man falling into water - too ruff for my taste needs a better graphic execution - cheers mate and stay tuned

Wow. *stunned * I thought it was official until I got a clear shot of the face. You have some characteristics (cheek bones, eyes, jaw, mouth) that aren't Trent's, and you make movements that aren't characteristic of him, but to someone who's not as much of a stalker as me, this could have been legit to them. I am stunned. Just stunned. There is an extreme amount of emotion and time put into this video, and I love it. There's not much to critique, at all. *claps * Excellent, excellent job.

Nice university. ^^  I have a friend there. Very nice campus. Anyway, excellent video. You definitely caught a glimpse and maybe a little more into Trent's thoughts.
