i HATE Phillipine Airlines. They are even less safe than Garuda. I would never fly with them even if you pay me. Also, why do they not have HD touchscreen AVOD?? That is now industry standard!!! Unfortunately Philippine Airlines is losing very good pilots because they dont get payed enough or just got layed off temporarily. Those pilots are looking for other airlines probably from America to get better pay. PAL employees would go on strikes and protests because of the pay, so Philippine Airlines isn`t looking so good right now, but not everybody is leaving or protesting though.

Althought PAL maintaince is very good because Lufthansa teck does it, NAIA airport itself is an obselete airport in terms of navigatinal system, VOR. The body that implements these safety rules is ineffecient. Philippine Airlines is affected ofcourse.

Although I like the A340-300, it's showing its age - I wish PAL would replace the A340-300 for the Manila-YVR-Las Vegas flights with a new shiny 777! Seems to me the MNL-YVR flights are in high demand nowadays. Excellent video, by the way!

@tasvi It was right that the FAA put the Philippine airports in Category 2 because of the clear safety issues in major airports in the country. NAIA recently lost its most important landing navigation system, VOR, ILS. Major inter airlines ang angry because they had to divert the other airports to land their aircraft because it's unsafe to land in NAIA. Plus drug lord Singson managed to pass his cocaine undetected in NAIA

@tasvi Major airports around the world are required to let FAA inspect their airports if they follow FAA safety rules. Having defective VOR, ILS navigation system in a big international airport like NAIA is a major safety issue. There must be several safety violations that FAA discovered in NAIA that weren't disclosed in the public. If NAIA wants PAL to expand its operation in the US then follow the rules, plain and simple. PAL is block listed in Europe because of this category 2 status.
