I saw Saosin twice with Cove on vocals and his voice sounded incredible. Your voice is bound to go through ups and down during touring. It's very hard on your voice. The new single "Promises" is good, but it's not Saosin. Cove (and Anthony too) was Saosin. They need to change their name because the new shit won't be the same.
Anthony Green and Cove Reber made Saosin and theres nothing they can do about it now, the band might as well just split now. Good music guys now give it a rest, no one wants to hear the third string singer.

Cove, Is at best, a tenor 2. He can sing up that high all he wants, but It's going to have a lasting, and damaging effect on his voice.

You blame the band because the lead singer can't perform well consistently. What kind of logic is that? If you actually think that Cove can sing well consistently, you are tone deaf. Just look at Saosin's tour in Japan and tell me that Cove can sing well consistently. It is because of this that he was booted from the band.

I think that Cove knew that the other band members were upset with him prior to him getting the boot. But, that aside, I think Cove can still bounce back with another band. And so will Saosin with another lead singer. I mean, look at Anthony. He left Saosin, and he's now well established with Circa Survive. I'm sure Cove will find a place where he'll be able to express himself freely, just like Anthony did.

You have a vision you need to portray for you band, and if you cant meet that requirement, you dont let people see who the real band is. Regardless of a voice aging, his presence was dull, he was kinda boring to watch. Besides, your voice doesn't exactly climax till 40, i doubt it was him having a bad voice. He carries it well, just falls short on the live expectation.
@ColinMiner143 Cove's stange performance isn't terrible, it's better than the rest of the bands, and as for his voice aging, it starts aging from the day you are born. your vocal chords never stop adjusting, and they don't climax at any specific age, as you get older you vocal chords start to almost petrify, they start that from the beggining of your life to the very end, thats why a four year old doesn't sound the same when he/she turns 14, 24,34 etc.

Well, they had to get rid of Cove because his singing sucked. He lacked consistency, and he didn't have the ability to stick to one key. Jesus Christ, have you listened to his vocal work during their Japan tour? He flat out SUCKED. And that's when the rest of the band finally decided that enough is enough. The careers of these four talented musicians don't need to be shat on by one person whose only distinction is being a much lesser replica of Anthony Green.

@vinas212 He's not just another musician, he's someone they spent five years with, he should be like a brother to them. Ending a five year relationship with a band is like ending a five year relationship with your girlfriend, you share an intimate friendship because you basically live together.. He didn't fuck up his voice anymore than a normal singer. He is singing in a high range of music, which slowly destroys your voice unless it you have an abnormal range.

@83dannyphantom There's lot of reasons they sited, but smoking isn't what killed Cove's voice, it was getting old and perfroming anthony green's material that did it.

@kasinecz you make alot of sense, but it wasnt just his voice, it was his stage presence as well. You have a vision you need to portray for you band, and if you cant meet that requirement, you dont let people see who the real band is. Regardless of a voice aging, his presence was dull, he was kinda boring to watch. Besides, your voice doesn't exactly climax till 40, i doubt it was him having a bad voice. He carries it well, just falls short on the live expectation.

@ColinMiner143 Cove's stange performance isn't terrible, it's better than the rest of the bands, and as for his voice aging, it starts aging from the day you are born. your vocal chords never stop adjusting, and they don't climax at any specific age, as you get older you vocal chords start to almost petrify, they start that from the beggining of your life to the very end, thats why a four year old doesn't sound the same when he/she turns 14, 24,34 etc.

Well, they had to get rid of Cove because his singing sucked. He lacked consistency, and he didn't have the ability to stick to one key. Jesus Christ, have you listened to his vocal work during their Japan tour? He flat out SUCKED. And that's when the rest of the band finally decided that enough is enough. The careers of these four talented musicians don't need to be shat on by one person whose only distinction is being a much lesser replica of Anthony Green.

@kasinecz man he wasnt kicked because of that...he fucked up his voice pretty bad. its his fault. therefore they dont need to suffer the consequences. would like to be in a band where someone doesnt know how to play is instrument? its the same here. voice still is an instrument. it took five years to kick him out. so what ? there are bassists that last longer and nobody cares...dont give so much importance to the person that sings...its just another musician

@vinas212 He's not just another musician, he's someone they spent five years with, he should be like a brother to them. Ending a five year relationship with a band is like ending a five year relationship with your girlfriend, you share an intimate friendship because you basically live together.. He didn't fuck up his voice anymore than a normal singer. He is singing in a high range of music, which slowly destroys your voice unless it you have an abnormal range.

@kasinecz I know. The chances of finding someone similar to anthony's style is 1/1 million. They're extremely lucky to have found cove and how they're kicking him out. They will never EVER find anyone with that type of voice again. Its not gonna be saosin anymore.

@kasinecz Yeah, it sucks. I loved Cove and his voice but they said that he chain smoked like a mofo. That will make your voice super gruff, and that didn't mix well with what they were going for I guess. See it was okay for Cobain to chain smoke because the gruffness fit right in with Nirvana, lol.
