  • Crazy Tracey , my girl!

  • sooo my summer song!!!

  • wow this takes me back to being a child i love it xxxxx

  • Tracey rocks! Great singer in the mould of Bette Midler, say.

  • Every time I hear this song I want to start packing and go away ..............Love it :-)

  • her best song

  • used to love tracey ullman. i honestly dont think ive heard this song since 83/84 & its now 2010. ty :)

  • wow this must be 84 was serving my apprenticeship listing to radio 1

simon bates gary davis steve wright {in the afternoon} fab and those radio 1 road shows too bits and pieces

  • should have been a "hit" for skeeter davis in the summer of '66..!

  • Yes, Skeeter Davis was the first to record it. Davis recorded this on 1965, and then Natercia Barreto recorded a cover in 1968

  • This music is a cover from a portuguese one called Óculos de Sol, or is the other way around?

  • Sunglasses was written in the 1960s by Jon D. Loudermilk, an American, I think.

  • ty, maybe the portuguese one is a translated over then

  • i think this song was recorded simultaneous by´2 (or more)artists in south africa

  • Skeeter Davis was the first artist to record this. Sandy Posey covered it soon after.

  • Who sing the regagge version?

  • I want to know too gmansi want to hear that version a big fan of reggae.

  • Maybe you can ask on historyofthe80s blogspot com ???

  • love this track. I wish she was not so underated here in the UK. We need her to come back

  • i listened to this on my local radio this morning...... memories

    great tune

  • This version is cooool !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have all Tracey's albums and they are cool, as is this version.

  • I have the 7 inch version on a Best of the '80s compilation, but this is even better! I love the spanish guitar in the intro and in the middle of the song and the pseudo-breakdown of the "wall of sound" in the second part. This is one of the many tributes to Phil Spector's sound, including the infamous "Be My Baby" drumbeat and the little castanet sound at the beginning of each bar, that's very 1963-ish, even though the song came out in '83-'84.

  • celestino, what a superb appreciation! totally agree. You should be a muso journo, if not alreday.

but the 7 inch not without its merits, so have posted one!

  • Actually, I used to be the lead guitarist in a surf/beat band here in Italy until 3 years ago, and I spent hours and hours listening to (among tons of other stuff) the works of Brian Wilson and Phil Spector. Now, with my current band, I play funk, a totally different style, although I still slip "Misirlou" into the setlist just to shake up the audience a bit more. As for being a "muso journo"...if I won't get any luck with just being a "muso", I wouldn't mind giving it a try! Cheers mate!!!

  • wonderfully camp

  • The eighties rocked man.

  • I love this - I have the 12" up in my loft - it was called the Marbella mix if I remember rightly - Thanks for posting - this brings back 80's memories - I'll have to go in the loft & dig it out!!!

  • I always loved this song, but the Portuguese version (the first version I heard) by Natercia Barreto will always have a special place in my heart.

  • Cool

  • Fantastic - shame someone hasn't downloaded the vid to this!

  • Fabulous version. Very Phil Spector-ish

  • great song!
