Amazing. You make it look so easy. I am playing this in my Grade 8 exam this saturday, but I didn't learn it from memory. I play the prelude a fair bit slower. Really enjoyed your interpretation. again, Amazing!
The ending of the fugue is lovely. It is such a temptation to stretch that out for the last few bars, but you did a very nice job reserving it for the very end as is stylistically correct. I liked the tempo, too - that was how I played it when I studied it years ago, and bah to those who insist on the slower tempo! :)
I KNOW what is wrong with people who call any music a 'song'... GRRRRRRRRR they listen to a 3 hour symphony and say that's a cool 'song'; GRRRRRRR again.
yeah i am trying too....it is so beautiful and you make it look very easy. i have to say i have looked at a lot of videos and so far you are my favourite, people tend to add pedal and it really does not need it.. the pedal seems to drown out all the beautiful Bach nuances...:)
tommharrington is actually right, the piece is played perfectly, but it misses somethin, i think i know
he needs to create more dynamics in his themes, he just plays the notes of his theme like they belong together, it doesn't, ther is a question and an answer, he should not throw them together, but make them come out
you have the basics. Now feel the music, where is the colour, the love. This music is higher than all of us, truly divine, each note is gold. Also try to play more relaxed, you are a little stiff. For my this music is everything.
It's quite amazing that it seemed that your hands weren't balanced in the slower piece, but as soon as the tempo got faster you got out your 'ferrari' mode :D and your hands moved much more harmoniously. Although you played brilliantly i can tell you that you would enjoy it much more if you were to relax your shoulders a bit more. I can see that your arm movement is slightly held back by the hardness in the shoulders.
Nice work! Don't be afraid of a bit more dynamic contrast. Particularly toward the end - you can have the subject entering with a bit more drama. Sudden fortes and sudden pianos is perfectly acceptable in Bach - only crescendos are questionable.
This is it - how it should be played AND heard. I'm hearing music in it I've never heard before. Thank you - love your brain!

Watch the tempo in the fugue, but otherwise admirable phrasing and expression in both the prelude and fugue. Well played indeed.

I'm sure the fugue got faster and faster as it went on.... that always happens to me D:

How long did this take you to learn to this level (with how much practicing a day?)? This is excellent.

...because they didnt have a pedal back then. You couldnt even make crescendoes, or soft and dark timbre.

This was a very good performance, but I think tommyharrington is right to suggest there is something lacking.

Well, they didn't have much in the way of dynamics on keyboards back in the Baroque period. I think this recording is excellent.

if imight make a suggestion i'd hear on the bass more often especially in the fugue nevertheless it's a very good interpretation. Bravo!

Thanks for posting this! I'm currently learning this Prelude&Fugue myself, and it's always good to see how others do it! My compliment! :-)

Thanks. The fugue has some tricky fingerings necessary to hold down required notes (and of course without pedal). Great piece though.
