  • lol "how he loves us" is my fav song!! :) good job man!

  • @BakeHappynessNshare1 Thanks! Yeah, it's a great song!

  • GOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! STRUM A LITTLE SOFTER!!!!!

  • @Soraplushie Yeah, not much of a guitarist, but I've been working on that since making this video.

  • I was wondering what your highest note was before starting the program. I see you hit and hold g4 pretty well now, but how was it at first?

  • @kkrissst I may have gained a note or two in either direction, but mainly just stabilized the notes I had and made it so I can hit and hold them more consistently.

  • You sound so great and its only been six months, this gives me so much hope being a teenager

  • @sunburst909 I wish I'd started when I was a teenager, lol!

  • I bought about a week ago. The only problem I wonder is, what schedule did you practice at. Was it every week, a little every day? By the way, your voice is AMAZING!

  • @ThinkTink606432 Well thanks! For the first six months I worked with the program pretty much every week day for 30 minutes to an hour and let my voice rest on the weekends. I also had the SSTV subscription so I could see videos of lessons, which helped alot. I also have the warm-up CD which I still use before band rehearsal and gigs. I'd recommend recording yourself every once in a while to track progress and to hear what it sounds like outside of your own head.

  • I have to get this program... point blank

  • @sunburst909 True dat!

  • John, you have a really nice tone. Here's my suggestions... image baby.. drop the glasses, shave the head, do something more interesting with your strum, and bring in more dynamics, like whisper to scream. Do those things, repost and I will be waving the rock on symbol, good luck to you man.

  • @mejenkins062169 Been working on dynamics...though I thought this had decent dynamics. I'm not gonna change my look to be more popular though, but thanks for the advice.

  • I have this program, but I didn't stick with it!!!! But I hope to post my before and after on youtube when I'm done :)

  • @TheCatsLastWord Send me a link if you do!

  • @noisykungfu Well do

  • love that song

  • @bryanh2992 Thanks! I love it too!

  • Great voice Ray!!!

  • @XplosiveVideos Thanks, Joseph! And thanks for subbing!

  • you really improved! :)

  • @ki19 Thanks! It's a great program for sure!

  • Hey man I would be so glad to ad u on Skype or something. I needa ask you couple of questiones. Thxx write pm

  • @EnjoiSweden I don't do Skype, but you're welcome to PM me some questions.

  • Omg

  • @EnjoiSweden Thanks!!!

  • I wish your voice was a little louder, :l but it sounds amazing!

  • @LilRoyBeatsTv Thanks! Been working on adding compression.

  • damn dude.... Freakin crazy improvement.. Im definitely convinced of the singing success gonna start it this moment!!

  • @moncmon Sahweet! Let me know how it works for you!

  • Hey man great improvement in six months already! I could just feel you straining in the "before" video, and in the second it sounded a lot more free, and higher, I'd love to see your next video.

I follow the singing made simple program for a year now, also did a before and after, maybe you'd be interested to see it too.

    Greetz Michiel

  • @HMandW Nice improvement!

  • @noisykungfu Thanks, keep on singing!

  • I think your voice has definitely improved a lot. Your voice sounded good but the one thing that separated this video from good to amazing is your musicality.

Your meter was really off if you were trying to play it like the real song.

The actual song is a lot slower and it is in 6/8. You played it in 4/4 so it just sounded really off and because the lyrics were written for 6/8, the phrasing sounded really weird.

But man, get the meter down and you'll be rockin! :]

  • @WhenFearsFail Yeah, I'm no musician...I don't even know how to play 3/4 or 6/8 or anything other than 4/4 on guitar...and I only have one strum pattern. But yeah, this is a singing product review...and everyone is saying different numbers for the meter.

  • @loveydobbey Work the first lesson until you're comfortable with it, then go to the second lesson. Work on that until you're comfortable with it, then go to the third. If you feel lost, go back a lesson or two.

  • 3/3 not 4/4

  • @stillborne1 You're too kind!

  • @noisykungfu Nice one man, you've really improved! I'm definitely going to buy singing success now. I'm currently a student so I won't be able to buy the full program right now. Do you think it's worth getting the top 7 bundle now or should I buy the full program first? :)

  • @TgHrOeMeAnS I really enjoyed the Top 7 bundle. If you can't get the full program, then the top 7 is a good start. Also check out their YouTube channel for great tips and blagmusic's channel for scales.

  • Loved the funny ending! very cute. lol

  • @butterflycolorz Thanks! Didn't want to be so serious all the time. Glad you could enjoy it!

  • Wow, seems like you made some great progressions through this program! I just started the program myself. I hope I can benefit from it as much as you did! This definitely motivated me to work harder!

  • @tonytalel23 Sweet! Hope it goes as well for you as it has me. Just stick with it and have fun!

  • It was good but dont talk sooo much in the beggining

  • @jzs007a7 Thanks for swinging by and providing feedback. That being said, this is a product review, not just a singing status. Summarizing the last two months of working with a product in a minute is hardly excessive IMO.

  • Definitely an improvement over the last four months. You have added your own style and personality to the music.

Only started with this singing success yesterday so I appreciate an unbiased review of the results that you are achieving. Keep up the hard work (although I am sure it is a labour of love) and I am looking forward to seeing a 12 month update (provided you are continuing with the program).

    Peace.

  • @SonnieA Thanks! Even since this video, I've been working on using the voice I have rather than trying to sound a certain way. I've also been working on working in my range rather than keep trying to extend it...embracing the baritone. I've considered doing a 1 year update and FAQ or "things I wish I'd have know up front" thing, but have yet to make that happen, lol. Oh well, thanks for your support and good luck with the program.

  • you should do more covers now you are great

now im working with the singing success program im trying to be better

  • @noisykungfu :D I had no idea you can add the "grunge" to a voice. The live performances I saw of Lounge Act, are being served one half step lower than the studio version. The studio screaming starts off with a B4 note, and it is priceless to see how male singers deliver that note. Elvis does it by raua paua, Peter Steele is awesome too, while some others cheat by using head voice. Morten Harket's B4 is very sad, imo. If you are interested, YouTube this : DDD's Best Fifth(?) Octave Notes: B4

  • @BlameLukeTV Thank you for the info and the tips, I'll keep them in mind. Are you guys aware of the Nirvana song "Lounge act"? There is a studio version here on YouTube with the vocals only, and what I'm mainly interested in, is the screaming section of it. If you guys listen to the Kurt Cobain screaming in the catarsis of the song, what do you make of it as the resonance goes? That definitely is some hyper-powerful chest scream, no¿

  • @youruglyfatmomma Ha, that was actually me from my other channel, whoops! Check out the vids there for some good laughs. Anyway, back to your question... It's mix voice with grunge added on. Grunge is kind of a different beast...many rockers damage their vocals by adding grunge to their voice. Focus on hitting the notes, then add grunge later using vocal fry. Vocal fry isn't really covered in Singing Success other than to hit really low notes. Check out Melissa Cross for more on that.

  • Thank you for the explanation. I hope you don't mind my questions, but something else came to mind, as well : are there mix register exercises that you find especially beneficial? Also, what is your input / experience on/about the lip rollzzzzzzzz?

  • @youruglyfatmomma Most of the exercises build the mix voice when done properly. Slides, Wee, and Moi exercises have been most helpful to me...be sure your larynx isn't moving as you do them. Do an owl hoot as high as you can with out straining your neck (pure head voice), then slide that down to chest voice, trying not to break/crack. As far as lip rolls, they kinda take a bit to get working, just try to keep a hollow sound as you go higher. If you're doing it right, you won't feel strained.

  • Hi again noisykungfu. Now I am a bit confused about the difference between "head" and "mix" voice. The latest song I made called "Let me help you, Jesus" asked for a high "A" note, and I have no idea if I sing this note in a head or a mix register. If you have the time, please check it out, I'm puzzled as if it's a head or mix sound. Unless I forget to tell where the note is delivered, it is the word "thing" in the sentence : "don't have a "thing" to ask of you".

  • @youruglyfatmomma Chest voice means the sound primarily resonates in your chest when singing the note, head voice means that primarily resonates in your head (roof of mouth and nasal cavity area). Mix voice resonates fairly equally in both. Pure head voice sounds funky (like Aunt Bea from The Brady Bunch). Pulling chest voice up too far hurts and strains your voice. So, the mix really helps by taking the best of both.

  • @noisykungfu thank you for the reply. :)

  • Oops, sorry for the spammy look, it was a lag spike I guess.

  • Hello, I'd like to know if the highest note of the song you sing - the G sound in the chorus - is a chest, a head, or a blend voice for you? Please answer if you have the time.

  • Hello, I like the higher register part with the melodic shouting going on. I'd like to know if those are chest voices or a blend of chest and head? I especially referring to the highest note of the song you sing, located in the chorus. The G sound. Is that a chest or a blend voice for you? Also, what is your highest chest note you are comfy with?

  • @youruglyfatmomma Thanks for swinging by and for the nice words! That upper part is my mix. Being a baritone kinda limits my song choices, but I can squeak by with this song. I've been working on my mix so long, I'm not really sure how high the chest goes. I'd focus more on blending than pushing one or the other to the extreme.

  • Nice high notes.

  • @squiggle81 Thanks! It's tough being a baritone in a tenor industry, lol!

  • U were dope!!! :D Hey did you try the shake from the booklet. I wanna try it to see if it works but idk. Is it good? It been three days since I got singing success. I'm on the third cd I did CD1, CD2, and CD3 the first day and the other two days I did CD3 should I keep doing that with every cd? Using them for 4 days?

  • @thecusinsgodinez Thanks! Yeah, I did try the shake...and live to tell about it... Lemme tell you, it works okay, it makes alot, it will kill your blender, it's probably meant to be made in a juicer, my wife won't let me drink it and that so I tossed it. To explain that last one, all the raw garlic and ginger are STRONG! So sting in fact that they come through your pores for the next couple days! My recommendation: V8 and hot tea.

  • @thecusinsgodinez As far as pacing, it's more lesson-based than CD. The lessons overlap alot, so make sure you have the concepts down, but don't get to the point of despising doing them. I'd say a week or two...you can "peek at" the next lesson and see how you fare. Also, sometimes it's good to go back to previous lessons. So, before officially moving on to the next lesson, roll through the last few lessons again, listening to all the talking too...chances are you missed something.

  • Hey Ray, I admire how much progress you have made in those videos. I'm ashamed to admit I failed to improve as much as you did.

Do you mind commenting on what helped you sing the mix voice without going high larynx like in 'nay'. Cheers

  • @jys365 Thanks! I worked with it pretty much every day. Just stick with it and check out their tips on YouTube and you'll improve.

As far as the larynx thing goes, keep your finger on your Adam's Apple, and slide from lower, chesty voice, to your higher, head voice. If you feel your larynx move too much, go down a bit and try again. Also, you can use consonants as a bit of a springboard into notes, using "H" whenever there isn't one or it's a note change in a vowel (e.g., "amayHayzing").

  • the song is 3/4 rhythm. You played it in 4/4, sounds werid

  • @pseven21 You're too kind!

  • Great improvement. I just started working with BM's mastering mix. I'm looking forward to better tone. If you have any tips on making the program as effective as possible that would be great. Peace

  • @darkheartcavelier Just keep working with it, don't hurt yourself, and don't be too hard on yourself. Keep track of how it feels as you do the exercises and try to remember that feeling when you sing. Listen to (and watch) tons of music from different styles and try to figure out what they're doing.

  • @darkheartcavelier Follow Brett´s instruction on not keeping to much in just one cd.. .

To the first one for 1 - 3 days, then go to the second, then the 3th, etc.. and then repeat them all again.

It woul´d be a nice idea to mix those with singing success, since it works with the WHOLE voice, and not just the mix.

I´m doing Singing Success CD 6 almost everyday, and I take a break and then I do mastering Mix.

ALWAYS take a break every 20 minutes of practice, and HYDRATE yourself! Drink water.

  • Great job Ray! Lots of improvement in 6 months. Keep up the good work!

  • @SingingSuccess Thanks for taking the time to check out my progress. It really means a lot to me! I've really enjoyed the program, website and your YouTube channel tips. You guys have done a great job putting it all together!

  • Wow, nice singing. Do you feel any strain in your voice when you hit the higher notes? I can hit the high notes but can't keep them held for long. If this is a result of singing success then I'm sold :).

  • @sarcus11 Thank ya! The program can help with that, but they also have another series called Mastering Mix and a video/CD called Top 7 Secrets of the Super High Mix that cover that specifically. I haven't messed with MM, but I have seen the track listing and it's solid. I have the Top 7 Tips and it's very helpful with that, but is meant as more of a supplement.

  • it says to take yor time with it i have been doing singing succes for a year and im just starting the style cds but i have found a huge improvment this works and i could not sing at all a year ago

  • @seetherryan1 Sweet! Lemme know if you ever post any of it. I took a month off, but now I'm back at it again.

  • Hey man I've been following your progress ,and its quite amazing.I just uploaded my own 3 month progress video I'd appreciate it if you would check it out ,maybe give me some tips :)

  • Hi Im 19 and have only been singing for 3 months. I was looking into the singing success kit. Do you think it would help me better my voice. Was it worth the money. I don't know if I would like to continue my voice lessons for about 100 a month, or if I should by the singing success pack. I don't feel as if my voice lessons have helped me improve. Please get back to me thank you.!

  • @DesiGM91 I'm not sure what the lessons you've been taking are, but the Singing Success ones are speech-level singing (more natural than classical training). The CDs are pretty decent to get you started and give you structure. The SingingSuccess.TV subscription gives you recordings of the SS people giving lessons to people, so they're nice for troubleshooting.

If you want a cheaper way to get rolling, check out the SSTV and Eric Arcenaux tips on YouTube and apply them to different scales.

  • @DesiGM91 you should DEFINITELY get singing success. i was in the same exact position. my singing teacher's voice wasn't inspiring, and he made me do the same exercise every week. i went for about 3 months and it didn't help me at all. i quit them and bought singing success. that was a year ago in december, and i am so much happier with my voice now. i just got mastering mix & all the top 7's for christmas. they are just fantastic. it's so worth the money.

  • You absolutely motivated me to get started with this.

  • @yiwenxp Awesome! Hope it goes well for you.

  • dude you are 100 times better than the 1st video

  • @moonwalk592 Thanks alot! I really appreciate the feedback!

  • sorry, i'll send it over ur inbox, im on mobile at the moment

  • this is great stuff! Massive vocal improvement! Could you check this new playlist (9 months), one before track, two after track. I didnt like the first one, so i made another

    reply soon

    lui

  • dude when you started getting louder ( i guess mix) it sounded awesome. work on the soft parts in your song, to sing out more. but wow! great improvements!

  • @TheAsheira Thanks! It's definitely a finesse to balance technique and emotion. Playing softer would help, and maybe a microphone that picks up the bassier end.

  • LOL @ the ending of the video

  • @AriDeClue Yeah, I was editing that part with my headphones on and my wife looked over and said, "what the heck?!? I thought you were singing in there!"

  • When you went into the mix it just really kicked in,good stuff man.I hope you keep posting these progress videos.I might do one myself.

  • @aurezas Thanks! Let me know if you do.

  • You're guitar is too loud. Play softer so we hear your voice better!

  • @1nspirator Yeah, it's time for Guitar Success, lol

  • Sounds good...your range has for sure gotten better. Epic ending btw

  • @lsaintignan Thanks! lol

  • I think it's funny that there's an MRE on the bookshelf while you're singing

  • @BlameLukeTV Singers get hungry too! Good work Noisykungfu

  • @mwig50 Very true, lol
