Well i've just received my Samsung Jet today from Vodafone and wow its a sexy bitch of a phone,it was well worth the wait.

This is my first touch phone,went from Samsung slider straight to this and im well impressed. Fuck Orange and go with Vodafone.

You can use the GPS by clicking on Google in the menu's first page, and then choosing Google Maps. However, do note that you need a data plan for Google to download the maps onto your phone

I haven't played with the w995, so I can't say which is better, but when compared with the N97, it depends what you want.

The N97 is a smartphone, so you can install lots of apps on it. It has 32GB of internal memory for music and videos too. It's quite a phyisical keyboard too, so that's good.

The Jet isn't a smartphone, so no 3rd party apps. But it's a lot cheaper, the camera is as good as the N97's, and it's smaller and lighter than the N97.

Quality of sound is pretty decent, though we're not audiophiles, but we're happy with it. On heavy usage, we could get it to last for about one and a half day

Well, it depends on the hardware and software combination. The HTC Diamond, for example, had good software, but the hardware wasn't powerful enough. When they came up with the Diamond2, they got the right hardware with a better software, and it wasn't as laggy or slow.

So the best way is to go try it for yourself :)

Nope, they shouldn't. You're not paying for the web but rather for the mobile service that connects you to the internet using 3G. Therefore when you use WiFi, you're no longer using that mobile service to get you to the internet.

However, there are some WiFi locations that require you to pay to access it, but that is a separate thing from the mobile service.

Considering the speed at which technology is progressing nowadays, I'm sure by next year there will be better phones coming out. The price of this phone should drop too. So my advice is if you can afford to wait, then why not?

The worst case scenario is that the newer phones are not as good or too expensive, then you can go back to buying this one, which will still work then. You don't always need the newest and fanciest phone to get things done on it.

Yes, microSD card. It's a smaller version from the one digital cameras usually use. They should be quite cheap, but I don't know how much they sell outside of Singapore.

That's the price of memory cards today. They're very cheap. That shop is quite reliable. Kingston memory cards come with a serial number and a website to verify whether the card is genuine, and they passed so far.

i am also confused between samsung jet, samsung pixon m8800 and nokia 5800.

is samsung jet a good overall performer? how is the camera performance and audio output from the phone?

the pixon is a good camera and audion experience. but the interface is old & boring + it lacks wifi. all this is there in the jet. however jet has a 5 mega cam. i dont mind less pixles if it produces clean sharp images.

please put some light on these factors.

I'll check with DK w.r.t the camera quality. The Jet is essentially the new and heavily improved version of the Pixon when it comes to software. So yes, everything the Pixon can do, the Jet can do it better (and it has wifi_. Everything except, as you mentioned, the megapixels of the camera of course.

The Nokia 5800 is a smartphone, but was designed specifically for playing music. It also has the option of having "Comes With Music", nokia's unlimited music store. So e camera is not its strength

Do you mean the Omnia or the i8910 OmniaHD? Between the Jet and the 5800 I'd choose Jet, because the software feels better. However, the Jet isn't a smartphone, while the 5800 is, so I can download apps to install on the 5800 but not on the Samsung Jet, which to some people that's not a big deal at all.
