Exactly... if there is no alternative prices will rise as petrol becomes more scarce.. Even with organic farming methods such as composting and crop rotation, it will be impossible to feed another 2 billion people.

Humanure would be a great idea if people didn't eat meat, but because that fact it won't break down... besides human borne diseases are spread much faster if it is used... I don't think anyone wants an extra dash of hepatitis B with their salad.

i'm not sure it would be impossible to feed 8 billion. the trick is for each area to have access to seeds, land and irrigation to grow locally. not being able to grow locally seems to be the biggest problem.

the trade policies and mandates imposed everytime the WTO/IMF loan money seem to be what has driven many local farmers in 3rd world countries out of business. we've MADE them dependent upon our aid. those orgs undercut their prices, rip their land and resources from them.
