  • the one of the best spyro games sky lander sucks but like to try thou lol

  • I'm trying to choose between buying this game or Okami. I am a huge fan of the older Spyro games. I didn't much care for A New beginning and I didn't bother with Eternal Night since I'd read everywhere that it was the same, if not worse than New Beginning. Everything I've read about this one seems very positive. I know this one wont be like the original Spyro games, but it seems like a good game. It's between this and Okami. Wolves are my fav animals and that's the first thing that attracted...

  • ..me . Along with it's the awesome graphics and all the reviews I've read. If you've played both Dawn of the Dragon and Okami, could you compare them for me? Which should I get first? Which one is better/more fun?

  • I have this on PS2. I recently brought a PS3 Console a couple of week back. I be getting this for PS3 next month.

  • This was an excellent review. I liked TEN, but as far as this game goes, this is FAR better. And as far as this series goes, I dearly wished they had continued from here rather then try another new direction. And the one they came up with is god-awful.

  • is this multiplayer?? like co-op?

  • i have PS3 i could have this game

  • dose this have trophys???

  • i was thinking of getting this, then saw the 3 originals on my desk

  • The Eternal Night on PS2 is better.......

  • @curiousepegasus hell, new beggining is better, this thing bored me, i think its the fact it didnt really challenge me, you had all the breaths from the beggining and i beat him in a few hours

  • damn I miss the original series

  • is this Spyro?

I say no, I'm sorry, but I cannot even put it into words how i hate what they did with Spyro. It looks good, but Spyro is a game for kids it should be in a fun colourfull world it should be fun AND it should have a happy end

  • @TToud least you can actually fly in them...and spyro gets a girlfriend <3

  • @TToud what the hell are you talking about it does have a happy ending

  • Whats the difficulty like? Apparently The Eternal Night was very hard, I completed The Legend Of Spyro fairly easily

  • Wow 40 second intro

  • what ever you do DONT BUY IT FOR DS!!! i bought it was horrible 2d gameplay couldnt fly you cloud just glide and to top it off the campaign is five minutes long

  • It was the same for me and Eternal Night and I bought this as I liked all the Spyro games I played so far (except Shadow Legacy) no offence to any that played but after spending hours traveling around looking for how to get the ice power and having no luck I gave up on the game and for this game I really enjoyed it. Got frustrated at some parts when my Wii froze but besides that it was pretty good until I got to the final boss and couldn't defeat him after like 30 times of trying

  • should i get this game? i saw it on ps3 for $20 (australian - so thats pretty damn cheap) and was wondering if i should give it a shot. I am a ex spyro fan, played/finished and loved the ps1 titles but just wasnt drawn to the ps2 titles. (Spyros never been the same sine Insomniac left)

  • @cjrondo888 Yeah I'd say so, I also stopped following Spyro for a while after Insomniac stopped making them, up to this game. I love this game, I'd say it's worth it, again it's not the same as the Insomniac games but it has its own charm.

  • @shingo7772 Whats the game like, is it the old spyro format i know with a few home worlds and various levels within those worlds or is it more of a strait forward adventure game now?

  • @cjrondo888 Not really haha, you just progress through a story line and end up at various locations, so yeah more of an adventure game...It's nothing like the PS1 games, but it's still pretty good

  • @shingo7772 like 20years later and spyro is still not an adult dragon??

  • @LookHere3 I know right?

  • is fighting for that long hard?

  • The best games are the ones from the ps1 by far

  • I will admit I am slightly bothered by the extreamly difficult battles....at least when compared to the originals....I have trouble with "adapting" to new styles for games...but the Spyro series is still great in my opinion. No i'm not saying they are impossible just hard compared to 1 or 2 hit kills...err defeats.

  • Not the very last Spyro game ever, just the last in the "Legend of Spyro" series. Anyone heard of "Spyro's Kingdom"?

  • my favorite spyro game is still the original game from ps1

  • @MegaKykyRyky not a big fan of number one i mean its good but not nearly as good as the 2nd and 3rd game

  • @MegaKykyRyky yeh, memories :P

  • Can everyone just shut the fuck up about the old Spyro games? You just have to accept that this is Spyro NOW and that the "old" won't come back!

And if you don't like the new Spyro game series, then don't fucking comment!

  • @AshInAPikaDress Agreed

  • @AshInAPikaDress Il fucking comment, because the old ones are some of the best games ever created, while the new ones are some of the worst.

If you don't like it, go die in a pit with the other 12 people who actually think the new spyro games are decent.

  • @Meziathol Just shut the hell up and play your old Spyro games!

  • @AshInAPikaDress

Yeah, you know what? Maybe il do that.

Because the old ones are good enough to keep you entertained on the secound or third run, unlike the new shit that gets boring before the storyline is over.

  • @Meziathol Everyone has different opinions and I think it's unneccesary that you are commenting here on this video because it's for the new Spyro games. =_=

  • @AshInAPikaDress

Your comment about everyone has their own opinion is immediatly obsolete, as I only responded to AshInAPikeaDress because of how he was forcing his opinion about the new spyro games on everyone else with his whole "Shut the fuck up about old spyro, this is spyro now, if you don't like it don't comment.". He's probably a little kid who is buthurt cause he was too young to play videogames when the real spyro games where out.

  • @Meziathol *shrugs* First off, I'm not a boy, I'm a girl, and I'm 17 years old. So no. I was not too young when the first Spyro games were out, I acutally had them and played them.

And I wrote that because I'm so tired of all old Spyro-fanboys that keeps bashing the new ones, if you don't like the new Spyro games, why in hell are you watching a review about them/it? It's just NOT right.

  • Comment removed

  • @Meziathol if you hate the new games so much, why did you click on this? you and AshlnAPikaDress are really going off on each other and its really not necessary

  • @silverstripe822

I wanted to see more about the game, give it another chance. I just don't like it though, but thats just my opinion. I wouldn't really lash out on someone for their own opinion, unless I feel they are forcing it on me. And the whole "Old spyro is dead" thing really pissed me off.

  • @Meziathol excuse me but you cant say that people who prefer the new spyro games (like me) are wron and that the old ones are better, everyone has their own opinion and YOU CANNOT CHANGE THAT. if you like the originals then so be it, and if someone else prefers the new ones then you cannot insult them for that, so stop being so immature and get a life and some manners before you post a comment like that again

  • I like the legend of spyro more than the orignials ^^ awesome story :D though the old ones is good as well

  • Exactly the game is not meant to be about fighting, it is suppose to be a family type game. They need to go back to the ones Insomniac Games made.

  • i like it better when david spades played sparx

  • Annoying intro. Skip it next time.

  • this cant be a last spyro game ever!!!!

they need to make a new game this year!!!!!

  • @SpyroTheDragon96 they did and it sucks because it has nothing to do with spyro, he isnt even a main charcter THEY DONT EVEN SAY HIS NAME WHILE U PLAY IT

  • this game i pretty fun, but it's short and really easy.

  • you say that your a spyro fan but you didn't complete the eternal night and sold it? it has soo many different features on that game that no other spyro game has like the moves that he uses(like how the breaths are different like the earth breath was a ball) and it has slo-mo to help beat up the apes. plus lets not forget the unlockable dark spyro after completing the game.

i just can't look at you anymore, your not a true spyro fan

  • I'm sorry, I misspoke, I'm a fan of the old Spyro games, the ones that were good...

  • like which ones? my favourite spyro games were heroes tail and enter the dragonfly (only because they 're the only spyro games i've got) plus i like the legend of spyro series but i have'nt got the dawn of the dragon (the last one)

  • The ones on the PS1? If you haven't played them and think the PS2/GC ones are good, then you are seriously missing out.

  • @shingo7772 don't forget Spyro Season of Ice, Season of Flame, and Attack of the Rhynocs on the GBA

  • wow, you are a noob. are you even aware of the original PS1 trilogy? the trilogy, I might add, that is infinitely superior to any of the shitty PS2/PS3 games. you actually like "enter the dragonfly?" that game was universally panned as one of the worst PS2 games ever made and one of the worst designed games of the decade. also, hero's tail sucked too. in fact, I would say it was even worse than "enter the dragonfly"

I cant stand to look at you. you are not a true spyro fan. youre a disgrace.

  • look mate i never got a ps1 only a ps2 and ps3 (which i still have both) because i was too young to hve one. the first games i got on the ps2 one of them was spyro enter the dragonfly so after that game was a hero's tail (which in my opinion was awsome) which i got because i liked enter the dragonfly.

oh and now im not a spyro fan because i never go any of the "good" games on the ps1 well i don't care and i have 5 spyro game so how cant i be a fan?

ps i am aware of the ps1 trilogy NOOB!!!

  • if you never played the originals than you are not a true fan. its like watching only the star wars prequels and not the original trilogy. I dont care if you were too young. the PS2 can play PS1 games. there was no reason to not go back and play them. play the originals (and probably wait for your testicles to drop) and then come back and talk to me.

  • @7LeeRenzo You should definatley buy the orignal three games. they are such great games.

  • @7LeeRenzo: Don't be brainwashed. The old games are nothing compared to the new games. These guys are just either nostalgia fans/haters of change or they just like platforming and dislike combat (or just prefer the former). You aren't missing out on much. Just some jumping, short puff of fire as a fire breath attack and that's pretty much it (ecept for some extra stuff, but it doesn't matter that much).

  • wow. I dont fault 7leerenzo here that much. he is a victim of ignorance. you on the other hand are a victim of stupidity and denial. the new games are university inferior to the classics and literally every reviewing site has panned them. rarely do you see these games get more than a 6/10. you are the one who's brainwashed, kid. how old are you anyway? you seriously know nothing about gaming at all. your games suck. get over it. you are just another ignorant kid talking out of your anus.

  • Ok, here's my two cents. I commend these guys for trying to "refresh" the series by focusing more on combat while still leaving some of the platforming intact, and still having a pretty good storyline, but that's not what I look for in a Spyro game...I liked the old "cute" ones with basically nothing but platforming so much better I can't possibly explain it. Part of it is probably the fact that I grew up with the ones on the PS1. I agree with arbitor in that the reviews don't lie, look at...

  • IGN's review for Spyro 1 on the PSN, it still gets a 7 reviewed by today's standards, while again, most of the newer Spyro games can't top a 7. Combat's not what the game is supposed to be about, if you want that, go play some MW2, which I won't.

  • (Part 2) Not exactly. IGN rated A N Beginning and Dawn of the Dragon 7s as well and a website called Gamezone rated it an 8.5. Check it out on Wikipedia.

  • @shingo7772 the game cant be a collect stuff game anymore they need to changee

  • @shingo I respect your opinion. But you must understand that for some gamers, Spyro's new story fits him better because he's a dragon. A talking dragon (Eragon and DragonHeart, anyone?), so being heroic fits him better IMO. Alright, I've been wanting to find someone like you for a long time: So please answer a question many have refused to answer: How does jumping from platform to platform feel more fun than epic combat like Spyro's breathes, moves and those aerial attacks? (continue).

  • Arbitor: When will people use their minds a little? If I hadn't played the old AND new games, I wouldn't be saying what I'm saying. I'm 15 and grew up with the series and I liked the old games when I was a kid, but I grew out of it and realized that they were kiddy, simple. Bland (a few levels, weird music), repetitive (I don't think running, jumping and shooting a short puff of fire breath constitutes as "fun"). Abitor, get some manners. You don't get that not everyone has to like popular games

  • I am using my mind you fucking pillock. I own every single spyro game to ever hit the market and i can say for a fact that these new games are garbage. you are simply an idiot if you like them. the old games are not childish. thats like saying super mario bros 3 sucks becuase its not series and "haze" is automatically better becuase of it. the old games are straightforward, gameplay centered and full of content and diversity. I will tell you why "the legend of spyro" sucks.

  • 2) (cont) also, the spyro games dont need to center around the story and frankly they shouldnt. the old games were all about fun and challenges. they were unique games full of content and innovation. these new games only offer shitty hack and slash nonsense. I would be willing to accept a new spyro game focused on a serious plot if it were original, interesting and mindblowing, but what we got had none of these things. its a perfect reason why it shouldnt have ever centered around the story.

  • 3) the gameplay is terrible. its so dull and repetitive. all you do is fight countless repetitive enemies and solve shitty puzzles. the enemies take forever to kill and it is just boring. its not a good action game by any standard. its been done way better (like I said earlier) decades before these games came out. the gameplay is mediocre at best. no, I take that back. its not mediocre. its definitely below standards. its arduous, backward, derivative, dated, and poorly constructed.

  • You know what? By the way you talk, I know Im not going to get anywhere with a hard-headed, stupid, delusional and overly excitable person such as yourself. Platforming series have always been "behind", but compared to their origins, LOS is much better. The old Spyro was original, an original PBS cartoon (first game only). The new games are interesting, innovative (not THAT much, but free-flight FTW), backwards, it's not and well constructed. They made the game in only a year. Give them a break.

  • "Platforming series have always been "behind", but compared to their origins"

what is that even supposed to mean? also, "innovative" my ass. these games arent innovative in the slightest. it is backwards. the controls are not as responsive as they used to be, the enemy variety is pathetic, the level diversity weak and the gameplay mechanics are unintuitive. the jak, sly cooper, and ratchet games utterly destroy this and they came out half a decade earlier. also, a PBS cartoon? you sicken me.

  • Bullcrap. Uninspired it's not. It's inspired by some stuff of Lord of the Rings, but you'd call it "unoriginal." Jeez. It means that compared to things like DMC and GOW, Spyro and other mascots will be behind. These games are an attempt at catching up to them and being all they can be. Another bullshitty story of your's. Ratchet and Clank has a similar amount of weapons and puzzles as DOTD. They both are awesome games. Stop being such a perfectionist, anyway. He, you sicken me also.

  • "inpired by lord of the rings"

no. its direct copy and a blatant, shameless ripoff. thats not the only thing it steals from. aside from being unoriginal its so fucking cliche. also, dont even try to compare ratchet and clank to this garbage. ratchet and clank is infinitely superior and always will be. DOTD is not even on the same playing field. its not even close to being as good. every reviewing site and 99.9% of gamers will agree with me.

  • Shameless rip-off? Are you THAT desperate to hate this game? You're bat-shit crazy. If you actually think most will agree with you, you're Hitler reincarnate.

Kiddy nonsense? "Well, what gnasty gnork?" In his voice, it sounded like some weird growl. Mario was ok, but now, he's shit for not mivng on. Crash is aesome and even though, he's kiddy, I still like it. Kirby's cool too. Insecure? No. I just know when to grow up and realize what's out of your age group and what you can withstand.

  • The controls part is a lie. I had absolutely NO problem with the controls. As for the level design, I'll give you that. The levels in GOW had a better ambience to them. DOTD did that well in some places, though. Like in the bottom-right path in the Ruins of Warfang. Where you feel any enemy could come out and catch you by surprise. This would be at the end just before you get the key from that path.

  • HAHA! You call the gameplay dull and repetitive? So are the old Spyro's gameplay. No feeling of power and victory, just throw a puff of fire and a headbutt to some paper bag-like enemies and win. The story was epic and Spyro 1's story was a platformer cliched "Series startes story." Simple, not important, uninteresting. DOTD is 90% Gof of War. Spyro copied it very well. There is NO way an intelligent person can say God of War is good, but Dawn of the Dragon isn't.

  • 1) no they arent. each level has unique minigames and challenges. I will admit, the first game was repetitive and boring, but 2 and 3 were fucking masterpieces.

    2) at least it was quick and it didnt wear the game down. you didnt have to sit there for 5 hours mashing the O button. there is no sense of victory in LOS. it was boring and subpar.

    3) the story was not epic. it was not only cliche and bland, but it was slow moving, full of plotholes, uninspired, and UNORIGINAL.

  • "There is NO way an intelligent person can say God of War is good, but Dawn of the Dragon isn't."

uhh, dont try to mimic my condescending attitude. you arent in a position to do it. you just look like a goddamn retard. you know what DOTD got on gamespot? it got a fucking 5/10. you know what GOW got? a 9/10. why? becuase GOW had more intense action, a better plot, more imaginative environments, better controls, and was an all around better game. DOTD is not even on par with GOW.

  • Spyro 2 was good, but 3 was horrenoud. The whole feeling of it was so kiddy except for some cutscenes and that involved other playable chars.

YOU douns like a God-Damned retard. I'm not the one claiming that all combat and abilities you see in the vid to be "crap". GOW was more intense, but much harder and that wasn't too much fun. Equal plot. Both had their intricate details to them. Both had a strong mission to them. It depends on what you like, though. Better environments? (continue)

  • there you go again with the "kiddy" nonsense.

    1) serious games are not always better. only a naive dumbass would think that. I mean, look at that abysmal bomberman remake.

    2) some of the best game of all time were "kiddy". the mario games, bust a move, kirby, donkey kong, banjo kazooie, crash bandicoot, earthbound, rayman, and sly cooper are all perfect examples. you are just too insecure and afraid to admit liking anything that isnt "adult like" and it completely blinds you.

  • 3) LOS is not any more mature or adultlike. I have never, EVER met an adult that likes these games. its becuase mature audiences realize how pathetic, juvenile and unoriginal the plot is. its not deep, its not well driven, the characters are 2-dimensional and its all basically under a pg level. the first 2 were boring, uninspired and they really were just as cartooney as the PS1 games. only now they are more generic, and more pretentious.

  • 3) (cont.) the plot is so mediocre and contrived that it might as well not exist. I normally dont fault a game for having a bad story, unless it is what the game is capitalizing on. for a game that claims to have an epic immersive plot its pretty underwhelming and poorly written. the story fails and it does not earn the game more "mature" points. its not mature, its just hollow and pretentious. that is why it is taken less seriously by everyone.

  • ... Majestic. Give me an example of how TLOS story is so "hollow and pretentious"? Shitty? HA! shows what you know. The combat is great: His breathes are epic. A large plume of fire, ice shards and tornado. A huge ball of electricity and a big boulder. All as powers. It's more epic when you actually see it, though. It's challenging because you must fight, dodge quickly or get hit. And many enemies swarm you, so that gives some good challenge. What? Why the hell would Spyro and Cynder explore...

  • ... Because the game was rushed. Dude, look at God of War 3. The director said that the biggest challenge was the complexity of everything, meaning the graphics. The newer games have more to them: Combat moves, animations, cutscenes, etc, so that takes more time to make. The old games were made slightly more easily because they were simple, but that was a part of the flaw if their design. The art is beautiful. How high are you? Go through the Burned Lands and see if you've seen something as...

  • At least serious games are more relatable.

If you want to meet an adult who likes the TLOS games, meet my mom. No, it's because some overly mature adults look down on video games all together. It's not pathetic, juvenile or unoriginal. You call it a shameless rip-off and want something original, yet PS1 Spyro was a spunky Dragon Tales rip-off. The story is epic. I mean, seriously. Have you seen ANY of cutscenes. Some of the dialogue maybe written to a lesser degree of quality, but that was...

  • Aren't as responive? My God, you're not one of those "LOOK, HE ISN'T MOVING!" Types? You blame the game for you bad gaming skills? Get real. 1 year, mate. 1 YEAR! Of course somethings like enemy variety isn't going to be as great as games with more time on them. Cliched? A cliche is a moral to a story. A cliche is sometimes good, and it's HARDLY bland. Subliminal love story, Sparx's comedy. The seriousness of the situation makes this a story equal to GOW. Different, but equal. Uninspired?

  • im not saying these games are hard. you start off 12 feet from where you died. im talking about the clunky battle mechanics. its shitty, but it certainly isnt challenging. each PS1 spyro game was made in a year. they had tons of variety and that was on the PS1. there is no excuse. being cliche is not a good thing. cliches will inevitably pop up in every game but LOS is nothing but pure cliche bullshit. it is bland too. I have seen more compelling designs on deviant art. the style is generic.

  • subliminal love story? jesus christ. you mean between spyro and cynder. give me a fucking break. that is not a love story. they have nothing in common, there is no depth to it. im not saying love stories in general are stupid. there are plenty of good love stories. play FFX or shadow hearts. hell, even play FFVIII. that had a better love story (I cant believe im saying this, but its true). how low are your standards?

  • sparx's comedy?? dont even get me started on David Spade. he is one of the funniest guys out there, but apparently someone forgot to tell him that when making "a new beginning." his humor was so watered down and 90% of the stuff he said wasnt even the least bit funny. then they replaced him with other guys who were equally unfunny but somehow even less likable. the only times sparx was funny was when he was heckling the story and pointing out the cliches and plotholes. that is not a good sign.

  • ... By Ignitus' tail. The middle one, in Eternal Night was bad, but DOTD's Sparx voice actor was great. Almost as good as David.

Haha. No, you're trolling. I may be returning the trolling, but you started it.

  • ... What they had in common? It's like soldiers going to Iraq to capture Osama Bin Laden. A man and woman will not just explore what they have in common. They have a job to do. There's no time for useless banter. Cliche bullshit? You are just a bgi ball of self-denial, aren't you? I don't even really care about love stories. This shows you're an idiot. Sparx with David was fucking funny. "Bug trouble? My tail section." I can't remember the exact words on that one, but I like how he got wacked...

  • is this last game no more others to come? that really sucks, good i still have the first three that came out for ps1

  • This is the last in the "The Legend of Spyro" series, but some other developer might come around and do what they did after "A Hero's Tail".

Yeah, those will never be topped!
