  • I want this video on my T830 unit.

  • Your video is a favorite on Rome

  • piano iz bi g, like dinosaur

  • i like it slow

  • i learned this song when I was 12 moving to 13, this piece wasn't hard to memorise, but it was hard to learn at some parts.

  • im 14 and im learning this song. Just begun 2 weeks ago. Its VERY hard

  • I'm 14 and learning the Moonlight Sonata. The first movement. :(

  • I don't know what to say, this is so good!!!! (i'm also part of the same music school as him)

  • very very good!!!

  • @MonteCristo98 yeah he played amazingly for such a technically difficult piece. i also played this song for about a year and still can not touchthis perfomance. great job fang( awesome last name)

  • Two Words: Asian Ridiculous

  • very well

  • this guy is not so good

look for wilhelm kampf moonlight sonata 3rd movement that guy plays it beautiful.

  • dude, this guy is just like 16 or 17 years old! he's only a student.

  • he was 12 at the time

  • well even more so! :)

  • @hloneca Not really fair to compare someone who is 12 years old at the time of this video to someone like Wilhelm Kempf who is a master of the piano for who knows how many years. The kids hand in this video just can reach an octave, he will only get better with time. And he has got to be playing this even better by now. He's still a student, he will get there if he never loses his love for playing the piano.

  • Wow. Definetly the hardest movement in the Moonlight sonata, seriously well done!

  • Great performance!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!

  • u know i think that feelings also plays a good part in playing a masterpiece ?? (p.s. i know nothing about a piano or playing piano !!T___T) lool ^_________^

  • Ive tried this piece :( and i have the beginning memorized but no matter how hard i try i just cant get my hands to move fast enough

  • One thing which i didnt like: at 2.00 there starts melody line in bass (left hand) - you lost it at cca 2.15 - where it can be hardly heard. - the melody line of left hand should continue to cca 2.20 in forte. 1 mistake. 5stars from me.

  • good interpretation

  • holy cow. this is incredible!! and even more incredible for barely being able to reach an octave! that would make the trill sooo hardd

  • finally a no-nonsense performance of a classic piece. totally worth overlooking the few mistakes. 5 stars.

  • the performance is good , like professional one

  • for me, too much rubato. assuming that is rubato, but it could be hesitation. ofc a few mistakes here and there, but that is expected in such a long and difficult piece.

other than those things, this is honestly the best interpretation on youtube from someone under the age of like 70, haha.

  • How old is that kid ! This is one of the better perf. of this piece on Youtube. And he looks like 14 years old or something BRAVO ! And thanks for posting !

  • that piano has a ghetto booty. nice btw

  • He must be playing inside the FN building

  • Beautiful interpretation

  • omgggggggggggggggggggggggg amazing!!!!!

  • oh my gosh people leave his playing alone! everyone has their own style. let him do his thing...he is great!

  • Wow! This is really awesome performance, Dennis. Bravo!!!

  • sure, he is really good. I thing trelle is to long. I suggest you listen my playing. I'm not good player but i can play not bad

  • i dont think the trill is too long

  • First few second theres a mistake

BUT YOU ARE SO GOOD AT THIS i love it

    5 star

  • no one cares

  • AMAZING

  • i looove the beginning =)

im tryin to learn it but i dnt think ill b as good as this..

    goood job ur amazzing

  • more agitato and he will play this perfect

  • Overall great playing! I would take the tempo a little bit down so you have more control.

  • Very good. Just try to use the sustain pedal correctly

  • wow! i feel so terrible at my piano skill after watching this! haha the guy is so tallented!!!

  • Frightening pace at times, if he slowed it just a tad he would have more control, but it he is as young as he looks, he is absolutely brilliant:))

  • I actually like the fast pace... it's more dramatic! ^.^

  • I do too.

    Right after I learn it.

  • very nice!

  • Beethoven would be jealous. :-) Keep up the amazing work!

  • beautiful piece got to love Steinway & Sons

  • yay good playing

hawt..barely reaching the octave but playing on a fucking concert grand :D

  • Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dis is da best one so far. how old is he?

  • Nice ... I like this interpretation

  • good.. but careful... practice

    good luck!! :)

  • Fang is an awesome last mane.

  • i like how he stretches some of the notes it gives it more emotion

  • yeha, but this kid is not an oldman like Kempf. some near day, he will plays better than he.

  • Yeah... In comparison with their age... The new generation shall rise :):):)

  • good, but not as good as like wilhelm kempf

  • why the fuck are you comparing him to a professional level player.

  • Wunderfull.. you just motivated me to play even more as I did til now.. damnit I have to be able to play this piece.. great!

  • He plays it 100% right.

And he plays ist with 100% emotion and very better as some other good people.

    5*

Sry for mistakes in my english

  • this is just tasteless.

  • 99.9% perfect in my opinion

  • great !! not like other youtube shit!! Congratulations !!

  • well you should no say like other shit because

is to hard too play in that tempo

  • Omg. I love it.

    What a perfectionist.

    Who is he?

    So handsome, so talented.

    Love it.

Never met this kid before. Would love to.

    xoxo, sunny.

  • omg the organ is superbly long lol

  • played very nicely :) not being stereotypical, but many Asians play devoid of emotion rather more technically, but this guy played with emotion. TWO THUMBS UP (Y) (Y). lol it will sound a lot better when your hands get bigger. im gonna start learning this once i finish my exams :)

  • there's no such thing as "playing good for your age". If the kid played it bad, it's bad, Beethoven didn't write this saying "if younger kids play this, they can make mistakes". NO! of course not! if the kid played it bad, that means he's not ready for the piece and needs to play it easier, now here, that's not really the case, this kid did the 3rd movement alright, but he should've practiced it more if he was gonna perform it in any way.

  • OMFG > he loves rubato

he also has like a whole lot of really good expressions. his brain really in the piano and musik. :) nice one!

  • perfect

  • well played. how old is he?

  • ok i can plaly yngwie on the guitar and that has gotten boring... now its time to play Beethoven on the Piano..This song should be a fun challenge.

  • good. D:

  • Best non-professional one I've heard.

this is really good. Im learning this right now, and it is very difficult.

  • HOLLY SHIT

  • Thank you for the comment.

He used more rubato to cover his small hands at that time.

  • god i love Steinways...

  • this guy hs the perfect speed!! to mcm1345

  • /agree

  • Kempff is awesome, but I do like this one. Nice work Dennis

  • I'm Trying to learn the piece and i was wondering is the correct speed to play it? Ive seen so many different variations in tempo for this piece and im stuck. Thanks to anyone who can help

  • Any comfortable speed at first, just don't be over-slowed coz' then you have to do heaps practice to pull it back up to speed.

This might be a good speed to aim for (beside his overused rubato in my own opinion) but for a good speed watch Wilhelm Kempff.

Most important is the fine details not speed, which u must get it when practicing.

  • as the poster stated, he used more rubato because his hands were too small

  • Consider the movement is titled Presto Agitato; that Beethoven was an extraordinary virtuoso; that the first movement consists of slow arpeggios (though not as slow as most play it); and that the second movement is graceful chords. It seems likely he would want this movement, which is back to arpeggios, played blazingly fast. Of course there are a lot of details that are hard to play at speed unless you've got the technique. I think it's important to keep a steady pulse, so not too much rubato.

  • marvellous!

  • Respect!

  • lol the camare frame rate can't even catch some of the moves really awsome

  • FINALLY someone who can actually play the god damn song!!

  • fantastic, the arppegios are so clear!

  • anyone do you know where to get this piece??

  • It's interesting; this pianist, though I've never heard of him before, plays this piece with more emotion than most famous pianists. Keep up, now.. Reach for your dream

  • oh really? watch perahia!

  • yeah probably because he's just a kid. wait until he gets older and maybe even compose his own songs :o then you'll know him :p

  • very good.

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jesus

  • What an amazing kid.

I can already tell he has a great interpretation ability, so I'm going to criticize him with one thing. The fact that I am criticizing a child means that he is very good.

At 0:29-0:32, there should be pedal use, and kept at a consistent tempo, with a strong diminuendo at the end.

He's a good kid. If he wasn't this great at this, I wouldn't be saying anything. lol.

  • lol! Wait... lol..?

  • Oh wow. amazing.

  • sorry lagg

  • sorry lagg

  • lol I added this to my favorites the first 14 seconds of this vid. And I don't regret it.

  • VERY GOOD!!thank you!

  • Spectaculous!!

    Marvelous!!

    Wonderful!!

    This piece was executed flawlessly!!

    Congratulations, young boy!!

  • EXCELLENT performance! You have a strong, robust sound, wonderful speed, great tempo, and, although you play very strongly, there is no edginess or harshness to your sound. You also play the dynamics beautifully throughout the entire movement.

  • damn that was really good for someone as young as him

  • a powerfulll interperatation for a young man he must know the serkin recording......rudolph serkin is the king.....this is an incredible young man.....don't let a woman distract you you have the potential

  • SO FAST! SO YOUNG! PRESTO! PRESTO!

  • Video's a bit slow. Thnx for the upload tho =)

  • most feelings of all, the best interpretation on YT

  • most feelings of all, the best interpretation on YT

  • He played it quite nicely but smashed the high notes at the beginning which sort of ruined the build and lead it to an anticlimax.

  • Wow, I could be him or he could be me:

My name is also Dennis and I'm also Asian.

I will also perform this song next Sunday.

  • Bravo!

    Effortless yet masterful.

I wish I had more than phones..... Wonderful to just close eyes and listen.

    Good-Luck!

  • Bravo!

I wish I had more than phones..... Wonderful to just close eyes and listen.

    Good-Luck!

  • not as good as wilhelm kempfs though

  • i agree

  • agreed! but the fact that you're even comparing the two is quite a compliment in itself.

  • this is totally amazing.. i have never seen one that ressemblesss wilhelm kempf's third movement as much as this one, and it's played by a kid... good job! still some mistakes but in the coming years you will get it right, wilhelm played this his whole life to to where he was before dying

  • wow that was really good! he messed up on his timing a few times but he is so young he got years to fix that lol

  • amazing my friend played a snipet of this song and that even impressed me

  • this is so fantastic the kid doesnt even know

  • Yeah, there are some errors. But still, this is how it's meant to be played. I especially like this temp and the expression.

  • some errors =/

  • aih...

young people are getting too be so gifted at these things...

i cant stand to play half an hour...lol

  • difficult? beethoven is just like peanuts to me... well if u say Liszt, that's what i call difficult

  • you havent a clue at life or music

  • Well, we're all glad you are so wonderful on the piano, but, for the moment all of us amateurs who obviously have no clue about music say this is a great performance and Beethoven, at least the higher works of Beethoven, are difficult. Just to let you know, you sound about self absorbed, no offense.

  • Ya think?! Why don't you ptry to play this! I can't even play this at half the correct tempo yet!

  • really great, and with feelings too.... very good... I'm impressed

  • what event was this held at ?

  • Wow!! it was so difficult to me to play it..but it doesnt seem to be difficult for him! =P Absolutely great. And only 12!!

  • Cannot possibly be played better at 12! Of course, there are some pharsing/maturity/sound issues. But, it is the best that someone can do at his age! Bravo!!

  • Totally awesome!! How many hours does his practice a day??

  • 25 hours a day, thats what his mom told mr that day at the store

  • Brilliant, young man! At 12 years of age, you must have been playing in your mother's womb before you were born. Wow... how long have you been studying piano. This piece happens to be one of my favorite Beethoven compositions. Keep it up.

  • Wow man nice piano what brand is that? man i always wanted a concert grand

  • My God! Fantastic!

  • YGYGYGYGYGYGYGYGYGYG
