OMG! I sure remember this. I can't believe people were driving through that. During a firestorm the oxygen supply drops and a car will stall. Not a good place for a stalled vehicle.

@cannedkitty ; ARE YOU SERIOUS? Back when I was a firefighter, I had to help pick up the charred remains, & put them into body bags. It is something I will NEVER do again!!! I hope you have a "fireproof" camera, so your family can hear your last words, before you died. Maybe they will take fire more seriously then. Fire & police have more to do ,thanhaving to rescue you, because you wanted a "cool video". GROW UP!!

I was there. As this video shows, the freeway was in total chaos. Police were standing around at the exit ramps looking like deer in headlights. Radio stations were inciting panic without giving any survival advice.
I'm back home in the boring midwest, and I am never going back to California!
