Meredith is the reason I stuck with Grey's and watched all 8 seasons in about 5 months. I didn't realize how great this song was until the alternative universe episode. That's why I love this song.

@Brenne22 You must have never tried pro mode. I play the game with an electronic drum kit via the midi adapter, and it seems pretty damn close to me. You can play pro mode with any midi enabled instrument. So, if you have the equipment, it pretty much is the real thing.

But the trade-off is burying these feelings of the relationship not being right, as the lyrics state, "a walking corpse", so as to avoid loneliness. And so this person becomes "Portions for Foxes", ie. a piece of meat

In its literal sense, it means evened out scraps of food for carnivorous animals....but obviously that's not what it means in terms of the song.
