The purpose of the song was to bring back the old 60's surf rock feel, and modernize it while keeping the original style intact. Hence why you get that jumpy shake your hips feel to it.

This particular cover eliminates that idea completely.

Maybe Beck (which I still have a hard time believing) didn't mind the rendition, I did. You know how Beck can be, always looking for some new take on his songs (if he did in fact hand pick this cover).
