  • sounds like an out of tune ice cream van. PISH.

  • I recently found out about Rustey.. In my books hes in the same league as Vai, Petrucci, Gilbert, Satrian and all the tops of nowadays...

    Awesome guitarist and musician!

  • esta bueno, pero no para de meter notas, para mi gusto cansa un poco.muy buena tecnica y rapidez

  • Is this an erased scene from "Tenacious D - The Pick of Destiny"? Looks like the scene when they duel the Devil, seems to me he might have been the man aswell.

  • tons of notes with no feeling

  • @pcarreramed hmm. un-educated to historic and modern music. this is clearly influenced by classical music. their is clear feeling in rusty cooleys work here. if this has no feeling then music has evolved without emotion.if your comment is based on the pentatonic scales that most guitar players use to create that generic emotion feel then i suggest you don't even look at shred videos. learn music then come back to us.

  • @KronikDethPainz also to note, in some shred players your comment DOES apply. but u need to put thought into what your saying if you say this about this certain piece of work that rusty's made.

  • i can play this song in my dreams

  • chills down my spine.

  • if robert johnson sold his soul to the devil,he needs to get a refund!

best guitarist of all fucking time anyone who dissagrees is a dick!

Yes kids its tired neo classical metal................................yawn

  • @stevegrierson People who don't know that this song is a tribute to Yngwie, Gilbert and Becker : Check.

The original 40 year old virgin that's extremely jealous over Rusty's ability and success in life : Check.

  • Comment removed

  • @stevegrierson Admit it, my comment was more witty than your last. Had I been surrounded at the time of the comment, I would receive multiple High - Fives. And you're right, next time Rusty feels like composing a masterpiece such as this, he should take your fine example and play some Spiderman: Web Of Shadows Wolverine instead.

The original 40 year old virgin : Check. <---- God damn that was some funny shit lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @stevegrierson Sure, and YOU can go back to your imaginary world where you think just because you don't like Rusty's music you think you're actually a better individual than him?

"No job": I work 38 hours a week.

"Unattractive women": Because you're as successful as Rusty, show us a picture of your wife, virgin.

I find it so funny you tell me to go to my "world of getting pissed" when you come to this video and sob over Rusty with your jealousy. Seriously man, someone your age..huge loser...

  • @killboxxy Listen, it's just music. Lets not get into the personal stuff. You don't know me and I don't know you. This stuff isn't to my taste (I was listening to Malmsteen in the eighties, I took what I needed from that genre and moved on) It has no phrasing, no dynamics, lacks texture and is not particularly musical. If you like guitar music try Jeff Beck or Andy timmons they say more with four notes than anyone I've ever heard. PS I have two kids (not easily done if your'e a virgin)

  • @stevegrierson This was Rusty's dean guitar promotional video... He gave them what they were looking for to make a signature guitar for him.. they probably wanted a demonstration of different elements.. which he gave in this performance... it doesn't have to be your taste.. I love guitar I'm not a huge fan of Jeff Beck or Andy Timmons. Malmsteen isn't exactly the greatest guitarist on the planet either you can't critique everyone else based on him...

  • @anewillss OK, point taken

  • more than Yngwie, it reminds me a lot of Luca turilli, no ?

  • The intro riff sounds a lot like Malmsteen's "Another time"...

  • The Rocky Horror Picture show for the Pope

  • damn my nintendo crashed

  • sounds a bit like ill see the light tonight by yngwie

  • Roope Latvala looks like... :)

  • The only thing that can make maths homework become fun :)

  • 2:15 Rusty shreded so hard that his bridge pickup got bent because the magnet field was afffected way to hard.

  • @TCFBbob yea, anything that requires big stretches particularly on the lower strings cant really be done if your guitar is lowslung. I know it looks cooler, but most virtuouso guitarists do what rusty does.

  • @hiddeninmist11 i actually think it looks cooler to have the guitar higher up, not too high but at a comfortable position... it makes me laugh when i see these young bands that play in my town, their instruments down by their knees barely managing to reach the low E string. Your right though all the virtuosos have it higher up, if i stand up with the guitar i want it to be in the same position as being sat down otherwise its a total waist of time practising sat down

  • i love how he's this badass metal musician and he wears the guitar way the hell up to his neck

  • @TCFBbob Any good technical guitarist that sweeps knows this is the place to hold it.

  • @TCFBbob it is better, especially for the left hand.

  • like !

  • The most awesome neoclassical guitar theme i've ever heared

  • Weird thing is that at a certain point he is moving his fingers so fast that it starts to look completely random.

  • lol okay we know you can play fast now write somthing good

  • this is at the border of what one can do with a guitar. just indescribable. makes me smile :) It just doesn't need lyrics. the music speaks for itself. that's what music should do.

  • 3:13 - 3:26 I've got goosebumps

  • Great neoclassical stuff ;) I can hear the Yngwie influence in it =))) Great song...

  • Comment removed

  • He has a very happy wife

  • what a power house!! dam

  • 96 people aren't under the influence.

  • I personally dont like this music, but you have to give the guy credit for taking the time to practice this over and over again, as i said not my taste, but you gotta give the guys SOME credit.

  • This song was perfect till about 2:00, Whyd he have to start the mindless sweeping, It was actually Quite melodic till then, the harmonic minor melody, Also couple of sweeps at about 2:30, Sweet .

  • where is the guitar solo?

  • The biggest a guitarist's ego is the better he is... So this dude must have some huge ego o_O.

  • @kolliasmalmsteenown Well said friend.. V much true!!!!!

  • annoying deluxe

  • i looooooove the combo of the synthesizer and guitar XD

  • I play this to warm up.... ;)

  • jason becker is better

  • The thing I hated the most was the way the whole thing was filmed.... dark... terrible!

  • Asinine, childish, mind-numbing garbage. Retards.

  • Incredible Playing! So clean and articulate with classic shred style!!

  • That looks awesome.

  • anyone know what tuning he usually plays in?

  • @musicForYourFace 1/2 step down

  • Y.R.O

  • 94 people didnt have speakers

  • Nice guitar tones - but uber-boring compositionally, and gay synth-timbrally. Man, somebody needs to step up and compose for you phenomenal players. Like in real art music.

  • i began practicing this song...i intent to be able to play at least half of it by the time im 30.

  • Comment removed

  • hey guys

if you dont like it why argue over it?

  • he can scribble on his guitar! very cool indeed

  • I cant believe anyone could question his brilliance, R U f**king retarded?

  • 93 negatives? Really? What metalhead or musician can deny this? Probably a lot of hate from guitarists who wish they could shred half as well as he, and will likely die before ever being able to...

  • posers who think they know something and comment on the amount of "feel", "creativity" or "love for music" they feel the artist is failing to exhibit.

despite having an opinion thats not only invalid but also terribly naive and noobish.

but this is the majority of the population, people who do not feel than education makes a difference. just grab and instrument and hack away to a beat.

despite every great musician having a strong grasp and therefore feel with music. its embarrassing.

  • @mikathemage Some people just don't like the style of music, there's nothing wrong with that. You don't have to like everything. I however love this song though

  • @mikathemage dude, those arpeggios are very easy to play...and the speed is not a big deal...the best of the song is that riff at 3:53

Wanna see real, fast and difficult arpeggios?...try Airbone, Serrana, Altitudes...

  • @tiroso i wouldn't say they are very easy at all, he's not sticking the the basic inversions nor is he doing basic 1-3-5 arpeggios

  • @mikathemage or die trying

  • @mikathemage its jealousy lol

  • @mikathemage I voted negative do you wanna know why?I don't hear nothing original that's why and if you want to hear something hard to play and original maybe you should hear Shawn Lane,Alan Holdsworth.

  • @mikathemage Dont be such a tool. Its not like Rusty Cooley is the only person in the world who can sweap fast. Thats not a reason why people dislike music. If they wish they could shred as fast than wouldnt that mean they would look up to him? Your logic holds no weight. Fanboy more.

  • @xPurpleDrinkx9001 ever heard of envy?

  • @mikathemage

grow up, why do you care about 93 people disliking a video does it really make a difference to your life?

  • @mikathemage "wish they could shred HALF as well"?

most "guitarists" i know personally are in the 2% to 4% range, 5% being generous.... so let's say we might as well forget about 50% :D :D

  • @mikathemage shut up. do you have to be a chef to critique food? do you have to be a director to critique movies? do you have to be an author to critique books? etc.

  • @mikathemage dude he is so talented but i think for me anyway i hate on it cause theres so much of it everywhere faster louder more strings more skill and more knowledge when all is said n done the music that shapes the world is from artists not well versed in such previous mentioned abilitys ie hendrix, kurt, beetles, stones, metallica, dime(being the exception of talent cause he can kill with a groove) mustaine, stevie ray vaughan and so on!! sure he is fast but after three songs is just shred!!

  • @mikathemage umm maybe people just dont like the fact that theres not much soul in this video its just pure shred???

  • I'd like toe See Rusty and German Schauss write a song together. Very similar players.

  • fuck man rusty can shred imagine if he could actually write good music

  • @crazyboy4793 yeah, both his solo and Outworld compositions are a bit lacking, but who knows what will come from him in the next 50...60 years...

  • I know Jeff Loomis loves this guy but I much prefer Loomis. At first you think wow this guy is amazing and then it just gets very boring.

  • @Hertsman50 Loomis is better, I think

  • @TheEvilLike totally agree dude.

  • Still good though technique wise.

  • where's the vibrato and bends!

  • 2:40 you get bored of his shredding...

  • @xboxnissan not really

  • @TheEvilLike it's surely not as musical as Michael Angelo Batio does i'm sorry

  • hey this guy is kinda good!!

  • I just have an eargasm

  • Great song! :)

  • By the time I type this I'm so over his playing. Sweeping arpeggios should be left back in the 80's like pac-man.

  • @cockdumpster sweeping, tapping and shredding are all from the nineties.

it's a talented skill with a classical touch. better than powerchords on top of powerchords or pentatonic shit overplayed.

  • What a nerd.

  • The best guitar man i've ever seen

  • awesome technique..but no feeling in my opinion...

  • @Julez2004

    why no feeling?

    exlpain ...

  • Why did Rusty choose bolt on construction for his signature guitar?

  • at 4:16 from the looks of his face his fingers are hurting XD

  • excuse me while I pick pieces of my brain off of the ceiling... XD

  • this guy's fucking insane

  • it would be so much cooler without the annoying synth...

but still, DAMN, mr cooley you are incredable.

  • mr. cooley is gay with tony blair

  • Comment removed

  • What I get from him on this performance is, this is what happens when I decide to sit down and master the guitar :) lol Rock on! Rusty!

  • exelente!!!

  • The beggining seems to be very similar to crash and burn - yngwie malmsteen .

    or I'm just crazy?

  • @guibahia01 Everybody became crazy after listening to this song : )

  • @guibahia01 I just notice .. it kinda does lol XD

  • Oh yeah! Great song! :)

  • I cant believe the guys from outworld pussied out on rusty I liked the shit they were doing.

  • God, I need to get some money to up the equipment, and keep practicing. Kinda pisses me off that I've worked this hard for 9 years to be as god as i am now. Screw life events XD

  • This guy has crazy skills but he never uses them to play anything melodically interesting the way other shredders like Becker, Malmsteen, Friedman, etc. do. Even his songs come off more like exercises. His phrasing is very robotic, too.

  • Perfect intonation.

Not one note is flat or sharp.

  • @ExtremeBogom

yeah, i envy that. my guitar is horribly intonated. oh well, i guess that's what i get for buying things used from all the way across the country.

  • @Fluffypopcicle

Hey Fluffy, I've definately seen you around on some guitar videos. I recognise your name.

You can adjust your intonation. It can take a bit of patience to get it right, but you'll get there.

    Keep shredding!

    Rock on dude.

  • @ExtremeBogom

yeah, i know, but there is an annoying probably. there is so much rust on the guitar that i can't even use a screwdriver o.O i have to use pliers and i don't feel safe doing that. i would much rather have it adjusted by someone who know what they're doing. i don't want to break anything because despite the rust around the bridge, it's a beautiful, and very comfortable guitar.

  • damn....

  • Soul destroyingly skilled

  • and this why im proud to be a citizen from houston

  • @LethalBreakdown I know how you feel, this is pretty much the only hope I have, lol

  • @LethalBreakdown Me too... haha

  • How can you even compare Cobain with Cooley? It's no where near the same genre of music it's completely illogical to compare the two of them...

  • so cool !!

  • WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW

  • Damn Rusty your guitar is on fire!

  • this is like an ear fuck from the gods

  • Asian ladies online #lushfmlk.info#

  • so unbelievably boring. sweepsweepsweepwankwankwanklegatorunlegatorunlegatorun. The speed is impressive for the first 10 seconds but where is the musicality? Don't think I heard one remotely interesting phrase in that entire "song". And now, BRING FORTH THE ANGRY METAL ELITESTS!

  • @mcchuff

Going by your choice of words, I believe your the "elitist" here.

Have you learnt nothing on the internet?

  • @mcchuff If your brain is not capable of hearing all the notes and the only thing you get is sweep sweep sweep then you better watch some kirk hammet which is more tasty for the average audience.

  • @MrEllinaras I can hear every note going on here and they're all so run of the mill. He fires through every commonly used major and diminished arpeggio and all the common pentatonics. I guess I'm just used to people like Guthrie Govan that have speed as well as technicality and musicality (check him out if you've never heard him). And for the record, not a big fan of Kirk Hammett either. Again, too run of the mill for my liking. Well, for the most part. He's had some very good stuff time to time

  • @mcchuff Ok. Interesting opinion and i will agree with some of your points.

I totally respect your opinion and i will make the conclusion: "it's a matter of taste"

    :)

  • @mcchuff what the hell are you talking about, sweep sweep sweep? even with all the close ups can you not see its mostly alternate picking, do you know what alternate picking is? if you dont then that explains why his really fast alt picking seems like sweep picking to you.

  • @CrescentoD 2:39-3:00, 3:20-3.24, 4:45-4:46 then finally 6:54-to 7:00 are all sweeps but obviously you'd pick up on the smallest detail in my words so you had something to comment about. Did I say this was all sweeping? no, I even stated there was a lot of legato technique in the video, which there is. And when I said "wankwankwank" I was referring to the alt picking patterns that are so obvious I thought I wouldn't have to spell it out, as it is the basis by which a guitar is played...

  • @CrescentoD when I said "sweepsweepsweep" I said nothing about the sweeps in this being the predominant picking technique. I was using it as an example (along with the other 2 techniques I said, which you ignored so you had a reason to comment) by which to show how generic and stale this piece of music is, regardless of the speed that Rusty Cooley possesses.

  • @mcchuff

    So Rusty sweeps a lot...

Blues players play pentatonic scales over and over, but we all love em for it.

In the end it's all down to taste. Obviously this isn't to your taste, but it is to mine, and many others.

The worst thing you can do is belittle someone else you do not agree with.

The best thing you can do is simply stop watching the offending artist/video.

This way, you don't have to put up with generic music.

    Let's have secks, not fight.

  • agreed... also

musics quality is not subjective, only the feelings a person experiences while listening.

that said, not being able to appreciate musicianship and feel, directly reflects a persons level of skill, experience and education in music.

it is not subjective how much feel something has, merely, how much YOU(the listener) gets from it. which does not remotely reflect upon the piece.

laymen are always criticising masters, people like to feel as though their opinion is valid.

  • My new IDOL :-))))

  • IMO, this is "I'll See The Light Tonight" by Yngwie Malmsteen on ultrahigh steroids

  • He's Hella slow

  • holy damn, behold pure awesome

  • Vibrato is surprisingly not that great

  • Thats how to tell a difference between a guitar pro and guitar newb: Is the guitar positioned above waist? If yes this is probably a virtuoso. If the guitar is hanging around private area its either a bad wana be guitarist or a cover for one's small manhood.

  • @venom1stas Kurt Cobain always had his guitar low...

  • @dragonman0000001

yeah man, like if you could compare kurt cobain with rusty cooley!!

kurt cobain is a piece of crap!!

  • @venom1stas Paul Gilbert wears his low, some people just find it more comfortable

  • OHHH MY FUCKING GOODDDDD. 3:06 WAS RIDICULOUS.

  • I Actually like the song :D if you are one of those who says "Rusty plays well but he has no soul, speed isn`t everything" Look up for Jazzmine`s Song pure fucking soul, Keep on Shreding Rusty you make the world go around

  • I think this dude could crush bricks with his hand if he wanted to...

  • 0:32 - 0:44 is the slowest rustys mind can comprehend

  • Yngwie Malmsteen - I'll See The Light Tonight

  • this is better than pornhub

  • @seankenny08 haha, and where did you study master of the composition?

  • That was not musical or beautiful at all....he just shredded some warm ups over a backing track of obviously programed keyboards and drums.....kind of sad. You would hope that someone with that high amount of skill and chops could write something worth a shit but obviously not.

  • @seankenny08 So can we see your truly amazing compositions then?, when you`re a World Renowed Shreder then your opinion about the way Rusty does music is going to be valid

  • @espalexi666 Ha, yeah. I'm sorry but you don't have to be a "World Renowned Shredder" to be able to see when someone is justing wanking to backing tracks and calling it music.

  • my ear drums just burst from the awesomeness
