my god i got so frustrated watching how slow the person adapted to the controls.. when an NPC can outrun a players reaction time .. *sigh* i hate TV hosts or Magazine reviewers that "play" games and are just crap at it.. Gamers in kind should be the ones reviewing not someone who thinks being a video game reporter is easy in comparison to a TV reporter.

@juliankuy They're using a controller in this demo that's modeled after the XBox 360 controller, not the keyboard.

The way this game looks, from details on how long your mission took to how the combat looks DEFINITELY makes me want this game.

The lack of jumping makes me a very sad panda. And combat basically sounds like glorified FFXI macroing, but it beats the whole "auto attack until 100% TP" thing it was half the time.

People saying the person playing is a n00b...OF COURSE THEY ARE!! This is a new game, its not like they've been playing for months! New control system, map system, etc. You cant expect people to be gods at it in about 5 minutes, literally.

Anyway, i'd not seen this vid before and its looking awesome and the battle system seems better than I thought. Already preordered mine, cant wait =D

They need a better targeting lock system, think they've changed it already from this footage. In the alpha/beta comparison video there's a target lock not just the freeform standing there and hoping you are in line of sight.

they didnt mention anything about (lock-on) im sure they wouldnt miss that out because it was L3 on the ps2 controller for ffxi so i really hope he just didnt tell the guy to lock on, because w/o it battle will really be kinda stupid with a controller which i want to continue playing with cause SE made my day with their controller setup for the ps2 version of ffxi and i LOVED IT and yeah this male/female playing seems like an mmo newb or a newb on the whole but its ok we were newbs also ^^

@Ryukotsu22 Oh don't worry Ryu...I tested the game in alpha and on the beta test site they have the default controller configuration for you to set your gamepad up with the game. it's JUST like XI so get your gamepad ready!

The reason it looks slow is because he's not playing correctly and he's showing the tooltips of all the abilities. People who can't realize what he's doing probably shouldn't be playing online games of any sort in the first place.

@anson2386 You are not far... he was pretty drained from doing the same thing for 3 days... 10-12 hour days. Our appointment was the last day of E3... so was not surprised at his energy level.

It seems like combat is being overhauled completely and will probably change more between now and the end of beta. It's kind of unfair to say it's slow from this video, because the fighter has no auto attack and is attacking as fast as the user inputs the command (which is why it's slow).

It looks better than alpha but I still want to see something that will keep battles fresh for a long time to come.. Something better than XI's skillchain system even.

The combat isn't boring/slow, its just his guy has no idea what he is doing. Its actually faster than the alpha build.
