lol italy was not a good allie they cant defend them selve only the german sended troops there and lost many if they did not sended there troops there and sended to normandy the americans would of been pushed back italy was nothing
@TheYaom no, they were not! I admire Italians and their attitude to war. War is most unnecessary way of expressing wish/ability of certain group of people to achieve something that can be achieved in more civilized manner. So, civilized people, or good people, can hardly be fooled to participate in offensive, unjust wars, killing and stealing and risking to die that way. And Italians have good defense, have you ever watched them playing football? :-))
@IcyScythe WEll a lot of people did not like patton he had a bad tempr and mouth lol no one doubts his combat prowess and tactics he just was a war monger who wanted all the glory that may be why persosanly i think he was the allies best general lol
We can see here how Patton's attack on western Sicily was a runaway success against little opposition. The question that must be made therefore is why the US found it necessary to deal with former mafia bosses and reinstate them. I think the price paid was far too high even with the benefit of hindsight.
@alanheath Well You don't take any chances. Who knows, if the Italians where better equipped and lead and violently resisted it would have been a mess. So leave nothing to chance! A don't make the first mistake of being arrogant and think your all bright and clever, even when fighting the Italians, + 14th Panzer Korps. In hindsight the Italians put up token resistance, the navy gunfire was great, operation mincemeat was swolled whole and everythig worked out.
this is just propaganda because it does not mention the men who broke the gustav line . They were the Moroccans The German commander-in-chief stationed at the German Gustav Line wrote to his Führer Hitler; The impossible has been done, the Moroccan Goums have crushed and conquered our line of defences
@timebandit71 The Germans were in very favorable defense terrain in Italy, Normandy hedgerows, and the Siegfreid line in Germany. That is why they were able to resist so successfully. When the Germans were in poor terrain or defensive positions, they were wiped out and destroyed quite readily.
@timebandit71 Yes, but even Allied air power had a difficult time locating and destroying German gun emplacements and tanks in well concealed places of defense such as the bocage country(hedgerows) in France. Many tanks and guns were still destroyed by Allied airpower, although but not enough to hasten advance. Also the Germans used the most out of their defensive terrain to their every advantage, even when tanks or artillary were not effective. The had the advantage of familiarity and defense.
lol love the way the hammer the point about italian troops sentiments but rember somedid fiht and die for wat the believed it was not such a walk in the park
Is this still Tim Piggot-Smith narrating?
