  • to understand this movie watching fromthe last part to the first

  • the last part is wut happens at the start, its the best!

  • wow i can't believe he didn't crash when he had his eyes closed in the car. ninja skills

  • Scary film about a serial killer - or so I've come to believe.

  • I wonder what happens after the beginning of the movie(after he kills teddy)

  • mind fuck fuurealzzzzz....cool but kind of a total waste of my time at the same time. too circular and unresolved for my peace of mind.

  • Just like inception, nobody ever tries to get the point of the movie but instead try to "crack" it to show how "clever" they are. (and inadvertently show the opposite.)

  • DOD JENKINSS!!!! Who cracked it?? lol..

    Sad, mad, bad!!

Sammy Jenkins' wife is Dod's sister!! It all begins there!!

Dod sent John, his run about, a crooked cop, to rape and kill Lenny's wife in revenge for the death of his sister and to give Lenny a similar fate.. they then use Lenny to kill people, but eventually decide they want him out of town because Lenny is getting clever and begins to figure out a system of finding out how to track the second rapist/killer who smashed him over the head!!

  • whoops.. tiredness caused me to get Dod's name wrong.. but anyway, i think Sammy's wife was Dod's sister and Dod was looking for revenge!

  • Blew my mind.

  • ... O_o

  • great fucking movie one of the best :)

  • ALL of christophers movies are mindfucks O_O

This, inception, the prestige....well, not batman---but stiil, holy fucking jizzballs, he destoys my brain! O_O

  • Lenny said can't trust memory but only facts. One major fact in movie is that teddy was crooked

  • @jgreed5 But you have to understand that the whole movie centers around the idea of an "unreliable narrator". Lenny is Sammy, who creates his own "facts" through faulty memory.

  • I'm go hav to disagree with most ppl. If everything teddy says is true, that leaves so many holes. Was Lenny really an insurance investigator, when exactly did he make up this John G character, why did he make up John G if he was actually responsible for wife death, how does teddy know so much about Lenny past if Lenny has short term memory loss, can we trust the flash back of Lenny giving insulin to wife if he claims he has no memory since seeing wife die? I think it's like Lenny said u can't

  • @jgreed5

read my other comment i posted just before i made this reply to you.. it kind of fits with what you are saying.. i believe i and my wife have cracked this totally..

  • @jgreed5 Lenny could've been an insurance investigator, is really not that relevant. John G. was the real rapist, but he killed him a long time ago. He did not make up John G. but his memory loss started when his wife got raped, the tattoo on his chest is what reminds him that his wife is dead is not actually part of what he can still remember, but since the last thing he remembers is his wife in the bathroom almost dead he assumed she was killed there. Continue......

  • Oh geez, it finally makes sense. What a mindfuck of a movie!

  • He lied to himself to be happy, I lied to people to be happy too :\

  • poor guy has to search for his keys. lol

  • @GLOOM818 Perhaps Leonard removed his tattoo of 'I've done it" to continue killing to live.

  • the awkward moment when you cant remember watching memento ten minutes ago

  • fucking wow

  • 5:13 Serious Leonard -- "I should kill you..." Teddy -- "Quit it, Lenny! C'mon!"

  • That just wrinkled my brain.

  • Comment removed

  • time to watch the movie a second time

  • SO WAT THE FUCK HAPPENED??

  • @MrConph123123123 He killed Teddy and got the "I did it" tattoo over his heart. He was the last John G.

  • @FreedomOrNothin But he was lying with his wife when he was shown with that tattoo. His wife has been dead.

  • @truecinema "Teddy" tells him that his wife survived the assault, which she did. Teddy then helped him track down her rapist and kill him, after which he took the polaroid of "Lenny" smiling. The final memory of his wife is him lying in bed with the words "I have done it" over his heart. She later becomes "Sammy's" wife, and challenges his memory loss with the insulin shots. The story of Sammy's wife is actually Lenny's wife because Lenny is Sammy.

  • @KAReiter82 But then what happened to the "I've done it" tattoo over his heart?

  • So he just loops around it all again? What happens when his body is full of tattoos? Guess I will never know :)

  • I loveeee Jorja Fox in ANYTHING!!!

    from CSI to

    Heck, Memento

I hope she'll be in more movies

  • God I love this movie! I love it so, so, so, so..........

What? What happened? Where am I? I'm on Youtube? What? Memento? What's that? AW! I have to go at the very start again!

  • My mind... is officially blown. Christopher Nolan is the ducking man.

  • ... My mind is now completely messed :L I understand... Nothing :L But I think Teddy did it. Did he do it? Is there actually an answer to this? But heck... This movie was amazing.

  • @ZaraMunro Did you even watch the movie? Wtf... the entire movie clearly tells you that he didn't do it.

  • NO WONDER THAT BITCH WAS SUCH A BITCH

  • I think Lenny is Sammy and his wife did survived but Lenny overdosed her and killed her like it was mentioned when sammys wife said it was time for her medication 3 times

  • so im jus wondering was there a killer if is, who was it im not quite getting the ending.

  • The thing is, I don't completely get this movie and I am perfectly ok with that lol It's good as is, I don't feel compelled to watch it backwards or forty more times. There are too many other movies in existence to ponder so deeply about this one, it's not that epic. Moving on with my life lol

  • As a fan of Stephen King's Dark Tower, this is an awesome film.

  • @GLOOM818 If you're talking about the photo at 4:00, look carefully: There's no tattoo there. He was just planning to get it, but he never actually did. He didn't write it down in time and forgot about it. I know this because I read the original script, it's explained a little clearer in there.

P.S. I know this comment is 3 months old, but it bugs me, because the plot is perfect and I wanted to clear it up^^ And sorry if my english isn't correct, it's not my native language :)

  • @XXpungnisXX There was also no tattoo in the scene with Natalie. I can't figure out why they did this.

  • This reminds me of Shutter Island. Or rather, Shutter Island reminds me of Memento.

  • so natalie didnt say anything cos she knew the $200,000 was in still in the car ..how did he remember so fast what fact he was up to ,he wrote fact 6 so fast..they could have done a sequal where dodd comes back after him

  • So lenny is an asshole in the end? :S

  • Its time to watch it backwards again

  • Chaos in a nutshell.....waooooo :)

  • I wonder how it is possible that Leonard knows he has a memory disorder when he can't remember anything...

  • @emptywood He conditioned himself to remember it; or, rather, I suspect his wife conditioned him to remember it.

  • Awesome movie Christopher nolan is the man

  • Floyd Rose pulled a Memento on us by reminding us in each part that he uploaded the video, sadly, no one will despite the fact most of us have perfectly fine memory.

  • except that the movie's art direction and music kinda sucked

  • that was fucking crazy and awesome!

  • was dodd john g?

  • @nuttynicky390 No, he was just Jimmy's partner in crime.

  • so basically he kills a john g every year, "teddy" or john g was a cop who wanted to help lenny? and just got caught up in everything?

  • what a weird movie, the climax is in the MIDDLE of the story LOL

  • he just wanted to help.

  • Wait, he drives Jimmy's car and and wear his clothes but Natalie doesn't recognize it? Nolan GTFO my head...actually I like when you fuck it

  • Wait then who was sammy's wife? How did he remember her?

  • @harrizon42 Leonard creates Sammy's wife in his mind to mirror his own wife. It's a coping strategy that he's conditioned himself to remember in order to forget the fact that John G. didn't actually kill his wife, but he did himself.

  • Don't lie to yourself.

  • So boring

  • i get it, i think. So he's sammy. There's a drug deal between jimmy and teddy, but teddy used lenny to kill jimmy. Then natalie used lenny to kill jimmy. Lenny got his revenge a year ago, but he couldn't remember it. now he makes other John Gs so he could have purpose in life? ah mindfuck!

  • This feels like shakespe

  • wow i feel sorry for this guy...knew he was lying to himself but knew he wouldnt remember it..thats sad :(

  • the movie is backwards, told from end to beginning

  • @iFROS7 if it started from the actually beginning the whole movie would be purposeless it would just be you watching what you already know. this movie is amazing but now that i've seen it i kinda wanna watch it reversed so i can fully understand it.

  • Comment removed

  • @sselemaNrM i'm pretty sure it would be ruined and a terrible movie and there's nothing you can do about it because if you watch the original after you'd already know how it works and how it ends ( begins )

  • is the ending basically saying that he kills a different jg every year?

  • This is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen. Had to watch it in school and write a paper on it, but it was soo worth it. Although I still don't know what to believe.... I think it's Teddy up until the very end when it seems like Lenny just makes John G whoever. Im confused! Might have to watch it backwards...

  • Whats the end song

  • memento: the inception of 2000.

  • so in the end... I mean at the beginning when he killed Teddy, Teddy actually wanst the killer, Lenny just convinst himselft that he is.

  • Amazing 10/10!!

  • I guess I'll never know ... I'm gonna make myself believe that Teddy is a bad guy ... But is he? Just for now he will be ....

  • awesome fucking movie. now to rewatch it

  • @GLOOM818 That was a fantasy of leonard's, it never actually happened. He was just imagining what it would be like if he did it and somehow resurrected his wife.

  • Great film. Chris Nolan really knows how to mess with your head!

  • I dont get it. I just watched the whole thing and up until the end I understood. He is the one who killed his wife? or no? About to watch Memento backwards.

  • @GLOOM818 OMG U R SOOO RIGHT!

  • Sooo disturbing!! Just like inception

  • Thanks for the upload dude. Gr8 flick.

  • this was a good movie!! at least, i think it was... i can't remember...

  • This ending honestly makes me sad.

  • @colafroggy Yeah. Kinda like Shutter Island

  • that was kind of a depressing movie

  • They never explained how he got those 2 cuts on his face. I was looking forward to knowing that.

  • @redhairmarimo

What do you mean..? I could have sworn Jimmy scratched him in part 9, before he was strangled.

  • ive watched this movie 3 times and it stills confuses the hell out of me -___-

  • @jossie561

Just look at the plot in wikipedia.

  • Now... where was I?

    AWESOME!

  • now i feel bad for edwards the cop :/

  • omg omg omg

  • @ThePrinceBased He pointed at this chest. Where there is a tattoo "i'v done it"

  • im tripin' balls.

  • Is the guy with the glasses related to to Ben Affleck !? he sounds likes he's brother.. the other affleck

  • @mitdafocas

He sounds more like Tom Cruise from Vanilla Sky to me.

  • Someone should explain what just happened cause I dont know which one to believe right now

  • Motherfucker, thats what makes christopher nolan so amazing

  • fuck.... what did i just watch?

  • WTF did I just Watched ????

  • @violentxhet3 actually...that depends. if he writes down that he caught the murder on the back of the picture he took of a dead teddy then it would end.

  • How does he remember his condition and the story of what he believes to be about Sammy without looking at tattoo if they both happened after his head injury?

  • @im50Brian He said he's conditioned, He can develop vague memories about himself after telling them to himself over and over through conditioning. That's why he was able to convince himself that he didn't kill his own wife, and that he needs to check his body, write things down, and behave in his organized fashion.

  • @im50Brian well Sammy happened before the incident.

  • Comment removed

  • dang that was really good!!!

  • Ok. I just watched 3 Christopher Nolan movies in a week. This, the dark knight( I watched it a bit late) and inception. I can really say that the guy HATES happy endings. Thats what makes his movies brilliant though. Now let's go for... INSOMNIA!!!! yay!!!!

  • Now, where was I?

  • Help!!! i am lost in this movie.. :(

  • His way of always saying that memories are unreliable and that in the end his own memory couldn't be depended on is one of the most incredible things. Amazing movie.

  • but.. :( we never know who is the REAL killer!!? :(

  • @Yinmeli He was a random guy who was killed ages ago, and it doesn't even matter. What matters to Leonard is that he finds his own John G.

  • @RevoltOfAges After i saw this..i thought that the killer was a random guy.. BUT NO!! My dad told me "KILLER IS HIM.. Lenny was Sammy Jenkis!!!" WATCH THE MOVIE AGAIN.!!!!! LENNY killed her wife accidentally! :(

  • @Yinmeli sorry about my bad english -.-

  • @Yinmeli Oh wait, I guess you must be right. YEAH, I guess the killer didn't actually murder her, just tried to, and then he ended up killing her with the insulin.

  • @RevoltOfAges YEAH O_O

  • @Yinmeli duh? did you not watch the whole movie when you saw this??

  • I don't always like making comparisons, but I think Gondry's *Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind* is a much, much, much better "memory" flick. I could give you the usual drivel: everything from the storyline to the characters is deeper, more solid and more clever.

  • Well. Memento wasn't bad, I suppose, but the story somehow leaves you hangin'. Not that I need a clear ending or anything like that, it's just that there's something missing, and it doesn't get pulled together with the wise words at the end: "We don't need memories to remind ourselves of who we are."

  • my friend told me this movie was complicated and can't keep it all together first time around, right. once you get the shit is going backwards just keep asking what made this happen every time you watch a scene in color. why make the simplest thing fucking complicated?

  • whaaaaaat just happened!

  • I like that little bit when he closes his eyes wondering if the world is still there. Earlier in the movie (or later in time), he references this exact thing to Natalie in the diner.

  • woah

  • quite honestly i can't think of film smarter than this. this is pure cinema genius, if it even exists. it took me so many viewings to finally string it all together.

  • Damn, I wonder what he did after he got rid of Teddy?

    Look for another John G?

  • "Now, where was I?"

  • christopher nolan is one of those writer/directors who make aspiring writer/directors feel absoluetly terrible because we know there is no way we can ever match his genius... i'm off to ice my head now.

  • I am MINDFUCKED

  • The only thing I can't figure out is why natalie wanted Dodd dead??

  • @TonyF273 Because when Leonard killed Jimmy G., he had some of Dodd's money. Dodd was going to come looking for it, and she was going to be his target. She used Leonard to get rid of him.

  • @TonyF273 The money that was in Jimmy's trunk was supposed to be given to Dodd but Jimmy was dead so he was antagonizing Natalie to find out where it was.

  • This was the biggest minfuck among all the movies I have ever watched !

  • Now this is what I call an excellent movie - from start to finish. I love movies that makes you think rather than figuring out the whole plot within the first few minutes. Needless to say, Christopher Nolan is my favorite director, happy to see him still going strong in 2010.

  • did he kill his wife????

  • @Shakur444 wz dat suppossed to be sigh im so confuzed?????

  • @TheIrishDrunk1594

no, it was meant to be si. As in yes in spanish? Si, Seniorita?

  • I was viewer number 12345..... i always see 1234 on clocks and everywhere else... sorry i wasted your time if you read this.

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • It makes me wonder how many times these two have had this conversation

  • my head get stuck....

  • Im soo confused

  • I actually had to watch this for my Film Appreciation class, and I can honestly say that this is the only film I've been forced to see that I liked.

I mean, what a mind fuck.

I'm tempted to watch it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

  • @KellyKeratin My economics teacher suggested me to watch this movie. I left it for two weeks cause I was kind of forcing myself to watch it too. I felt tempted to watch it for the same reason. I want to become a movie director later and this movie is just so fucking good.

  • Insane freakin awesome movie

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • fucking weird...

  • I wonder what he did after killing Teddy...get another John G?

  • Good movie. Mind blowing at first like Inception. So, I guess he never finds his killer. In order to satisfy his own content and happiness he makes one up... Teddy.

  • @garymiester7 He already did. remember Teddy helped him, but the problem was that after he killed the orginal John G. Teddy was using him to kill drug dealers(convincing Lenny that they were John G) so when he found out what Ted was up to he wanted revenge and plotted to kill Teddy himself by convincing himself that Teddy was John G.

  • @ThePsuedo so leonard already killed John G. but teddy was a different case, so we're supposed to believe that teddy is actually John G. but John G is already dead and really leonard wanted revenge against him for lying to him, but he can't even remember that and is convinced that teddy is John G. is that what you're trying to say?

  • @kingofburnttoast Teddy is not the John G. that Lenny was looking for because Lenny with the Help of Teddy had already killed him, but Teddy's real name is John G., and it just so happens that he has the same name as the person Lenny killed/wants to kill.

It's like if you looked into a Phone book, you'll find that there are alot of people who have the same initials. Remember Lenny didn't have a Last name just the letter G. and that can stand for anything eg. Gregory,Gabriel etc.

  • poor teddy lol

  • This is, hands down, my favourite movie...

  • so what does bitch natalie have to do with the movie? didn't get that part

  • @SexyRaww

    She was Jimmy's partner...

Leonard entered into her bar with Jimmy's clothes and a note that was meant for Jimmy.

Now, the guy Jimmy and Natalie worked for is after her because Jimmy disappeared with 250 thousand dollars (but he's dead).

She tells her 'boss' that Leonard is the one who killed Jimmy (he did), but I guess she would rather that her 'boss' is dead and tricks Leonard into believing that her 'boss' beat her up, so that Leonard can kill him...

    ...continued
