The difference between the R4, R5, R6 are the barrel lengths: 18.1", 13.1" and 11" respectively. The R6 has a slightly lower rate of fire on full auto due to shortened gas system due to shorter barrel. Otherwise, they're essentially length variants of the same weapon system.
The SANDF got chased out of Lesotho - what a circus. ANC fucked up our military like everything else in the country.

The R5 rifle has a folding stock. This may account for it appearing short.

They are pretty cool - very difficult to get hold of in the US though, so my relatives tell me.

It was a good rifle 25 years ago, but rates pretty low in todays standards.
