I haven't watched this appearance in a while but I could totally relate when Jill was talking about how she's dealing with the fear of failing and being a fraud and not being good enough and all those insecurities since I just made a switch to another department at work. Granted I don't do life architecture like she does but I can totally relate to the feelings and insecurities.

Cathartic comes from the word catharsis which basically means to cleanse or purge usually on an emotional level so basically what she's saying is that the last chance work outs are very liberating for her because it somehow releases some sort of emotional tension I suppose when it comes to training these contestants.
