  • I wish I could reach thru the screen and hug her, WOW she was amazing! Karen was a true star in every sense of the word, she has beauty, class and PURE TALENT! She is greatly missed by all STILL! and always will be.

  • i love all karen's song..i never get tired of listening it...even karen was not around anymore but her songs still lives on...up to many generations...

  • A fitting tribute to a great lady, sung by a great lady. The Carpenters were great!

  • DANGIT... my mistake. She would have been 60 this year, not 50. Maybe I should learn how to add. :)

  • Just think... Karen would have been 50 this year. All the great music she could still be making for us today... it really hurts that she's gone, even over 27 years after the fact. Thank you for the music, Karen and Richard; because of both of you, MY life will never be the same. (By the way, I am 30 and was not yet three years old when Karen died.)

  • Howard Banister. I found the original from you. what is this from. what album. lovely. thank you.

  • @justinjameswest - This original version was on Richard Carpenter's 1987 solo album called "Time." It peaked at #12 on the Adult Contemporary singles chart.

  • very beautiful in music arrangements and lyric

  • I don't know who you are but thank you so much for such a beautiful, beautiful video. I'll never stop missing Karen.

  • beautiful and positive music

  • beautiful.

  • Brillent song wonderful images

    thanks Judie for sharing

  • What a touching tribute to two truly lovely and multi-talented ladies: Karen and Dusty!

  • too sad

  • wow nice song

  • Dusty Springfield and Karen Carpenter are 2 of my favorite vocalists. Ever! Both have distinctively haunting voices that I find enchanting! Thank you for posting. Love the song and love the snippets of Karen Carpenter.

  • karen carpenter never dies... her songs will live forver ...

  • nobody today or in the past can ever replace karen carpenter voice. she was very special. also the rock hall of fame should be ashamed of themselves for not putting the carpenters in there. I live an hour away from there , and I won't go. Alot of people feel this way. Blondie is in there and she isn' even close to karen's voice period. Karen forevere......

  • Richard you should be ashamed of yourself. Did the money and and the little fame you had from your sister make you blind.

  • love karen carpenter, dont care if she didnt sing it. It just gives me goosebumps hearing her. shes my idol,,, she will live forever through her songs....

  • one of my favorite song and also my mom

  • This is Dusty Springfield. She was considered a singer's singer - a great voice- and she was Karen Carpenter's favorite. When Richard was recording a solo album in 1987, he asked Dusty to sing the vocals on this track - not as a tribute to Karen, but because Dusty was Karen's idol. Richard plays the piano and with Dusty's voice, the result is hauntingly beautiful. Dusty died in 1999.

  • forever

  • sorry....this is Dusty Springfield

I think it was on the table for Karen to sing....but it never happened.

  • this song is a tribute to Karen.

Karen died on 1983; this song is recorded on 1987.

  • lick me

  • What do you mean?

  • I miss Karen too, the music industry misses her :(

  • Sorry she's like Drunk notice that?

  • nice song!

  • Beautiful voice... Karen was an angel.

    Never forget you.

  • This song is a tribute to Karen - she didn't sing this song.

  • Correct- Claire Dela Fuente is singing this Tribute song!!!!

  • I stand corrected- This just might have been done by Dusty Springfield!!!

  • @jwesboy

Claire dela Fuente has an even haunting version of it because she is a Karen Carpenter replica. Claire, as far as I know is a great fan of the Carpenters and is making a comeback after being a plain wife for a couple of years. Welcome Claire! Please make Karen's music live agan through you!

  • And this is also a true and honest opinion The Carpenters thanks for a wonderful music it is so lovely to hear your voice i think i fall in love again :-)

  • Karen didn't sing this song - it's Dusty Springfield!

  • yes rre08 this is a nice version of this song and theres no need to say sorry for the other version its the other version who copy this song must say sorry cause they only abuse the beautiful voice of karen.

  • Comment removed

  • i like this version compare to others....sorry no offense pls.just an honest opinion

  • This was really lovely :).

  • I imagine Karen's voice in this song..and well....what do I say!!..it would be perfect!..but thanks to Dusty for singing this one for her....it's a job well done..

    I love you karen..

  • I still miss Karen, 26 years later.

  • If Karen was alive, this song would have sung by her for sure. Dusty and Karen had their styles - Dusty sang it with passion, while Karen would sing it lovingly.

  • Is this song dedicated to Karen?

  • Don't you know that Philippines got a beautiful singer that really sounds like Karen. She really sounds the same, She's fantastic and Richard knows it. She's Claire de La Fuente. Infact everytime I see/hear Claire perform this song in any Filipino Variety show I just closed my eyes and feel as if it's Karen performing, hehehe! We missed and loved Karen may she rest in Peace.

  • I like this artist's voice and this song, but I would have loved to have heard it recorded by Karen and Richard as well, I can almost hear Karen's voice singing this one... miss her...

  • I'm sorry, but this video's too confusing, especially the clips that show Karen singing when the vocals are from Dusty. I'd rather hear Karen's own voice on a tribute to her.

  • LoveHowardBanister, Hi, Friend! This is

truly a lovely tribute. You haven't heard from me because had serious emergency surgery in hospital & now recuperating @ home, a little better every day. Miss you & your beautiful videos! Have a Blessed Easter.

    Love, Penny

  • Penny!! How are you?? It's been forever, like we spoke a few months ago. HOw have you been??

  • Lovely dedication for a great lady

  • perfect

  • I wasn't aware Karen had a solo project at A&M that was shelved. Did it ever get released?

  • yes it did get released but not until a few years ago, you can buy it on itunes and ebay ;o) Richard did not approve of it, the producers didn't like it much either and it was generally poorly recieved so Karen agreed to shelve it. Richard decided to release it in about 94 I think.

  • Just to set the record straight. This song is sung by dusty springfield on a Richard Carpenter's solo album. It's not Karen. This is only a dedication.

  • like to hear.... her voice is like a wisper of the air..

  • I remember this song getting some Adult Contemporary airplay when it was first released but it quickly vanished afterward, which is a shame, as it is a beautiful song.

Am I the only one who gets a little teary-eyed watching the footage of Karen performing in front of the "sunny" backdrop at the lyric "And as I watch you framed in sunlight, in a sky of blue"?

Too bad Karen and Dusty never got a chance to duet... that would have been musical heaven.

  • No you are not the only one that gets teary-eyed,I also miss them.

  • beautiful,I miss you karen and dusty.you shall live for ever with your gift of song.

  • Ilove you Karen, your voice changed my life forever!!!

  • LoveHowardBanister, I send my Love to Robin.

I do love this song,also.. Thank You. - penny

  • This song I heard was originally written for Karen but then she died. Is this true?

  • No. The song was written in 1984, a year after Karen passed away. And Richard thought Dusty Springfield would be the perfect voice for such beautiful song.

  • Just go check your ears ...

  • Thank you for posting Dusty's version of this song. I sure love Richard Carpenter's music!

  • You are welcome.

  • Dusty Springfield never sounded like Karen. Karen sounds like Akiko Kobayashi.

  • I so love Karen and Dusty, both one of a kind voices, never can get enough true talent such as these ladies. Also thanks Richard as always brilliant!

  • /watch?v=jmwtnttos84

  • As great and clear in her voice as KAREN was, DUSTY brings this song home closer. It is a tribute to both of them. Two beautiful voices are now still and silent only to be brought alive in past recordings. They left way too early.

  • Thank You LHB - What a beautiful sentiment to me. You are amongst my most loved and valuable friends I have and hold dearly in my heart. You have once again moved me to tears. ILY always &

    forever.

    Love Robin

  • Thank you so much, Robin!! I feel the exact same about you. Take care, girlfrined!!

    ILY,2!!

    Judy

  • @LoveHowardBanister I had just cane across this and forgot you dedicated this to me. You Rock my friend and make me feel terrific inside and out. I love you "UM" and I mean it.

  • where is the video of dusty springfield? i can find it here in youtube, before when i typed in search button it goes 3rd from the top now its gone.... please bring it back, dusty is classic... anyone know the link? wanna put it in my fave vid.. thanks

  • I think it was removed due to copyright laws.

  • Check Clair Dela Fuente & Richard, singing this song. He's aged gracefully. He said he wrote it for Dusty Springfield, four years after Karen died. I used to play this song all the time when I was young(er). Its good to see someone younger has carried on the songs of the Carpenters, especially this hit song. Any reactions?

  • I like Clair's voice, and I especially like her version of this song. And it's nice to see Richard getting the appreciation he deserves, even if he has to travel halfway across the world to get it.

  • I need Dusty springfield's video too. She is a classic. Please bring her back.

  • I agree to that... I like Dusty Springfield!!! Eager to see her video of this song too...I heard Claire's version and its good!!!

  • youtube deleted the dusty springfield version of something in your eyes.i always watch the video when the time claire dela fuente sing it in ASAP with richard carpenter.

  • I need Dusty springfield's video too. She is a classic. Please bring her back.

  • why is it youtube deleted the video of dusty springfield & richard carpenter.Bad trip!

  • why is it youtube deleted the video of dusty springfield & richard carpenter.Bad trip!

  • i really love this song..everytime i hear this i can still remember during my college days while im on my on the job training i used to play this song everyday!!!i wish paly song Show me the way to your heart by scott grimes...pls post it!!!!kisses

  • Not sure if this is a fact, but I read on a message board somewhere that Richard wrote this song for Karen to sing, but then she died before having the chance to record it. Anyone know if this is true or not?

  • I'm not sure if he wrote it for her to sing, he very might well have. I thought he wrote it special for his Time CD. I will have to check

  • That's true.

  • No, the song written for Karen was "In Love Alone," which was later recorded by Dionne Warwick and appears on Richard's "Time" album along with "Something in Your Eyes."

  • Beautiful!! So this is the version of Dusty Springfield. The singer sounds like Claire de la fuente. Their versions are both beautiful but I wished it was recorded by Karen too. =)

P.S. We have the same song tribute for KC but mine is Claire's version. lol

    =)

    T.C.C.I.C

  • Thanks! I'll be sure to check yours out.

  • I just checked my Ray Coleman book, and if it says something about Richard writing it for Karen, I missed it.
