Honor killings happen. And since the Quran says that its fine to lie to the unbelievers if it helps advance the cause of Islam, there is absolutely no point for us in believing what Muslims say about these issues. They know about the problems in their religion but they think it is for a greater good. You can be bad with or without religion and you do not need to be religious to do good things, but only religion has the power to make good people do bad things.
The statistics on honor killings in Muslim countries also include murders committed by husbands against their wives, so it is not only between parents and children. However, in the US, 6000 women are being killed by their husbands each year, 14000 women are being killed by husbands each year in Russia. But these murders are never mentioned as "honor killings" in these two Christian majority countries. In contrast to Egypt, which has 70 million people, only 50 honor killings happen each year

If they killed a member of their family its because its culturally allowed, being Iraqi this is allowed being mostly a Muslim state the law turns its blind eye to murder.
