  • Does anyone know where I can find clips of the origional Oprah show that he was on? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

  • Good luck feeding the world vegans. The poor can afford to shop at whole foods. Figured you'd like to know. And the largest source of greenhouse gases isn't the production of livestock. It's swamps. And I would bet not one of you celery chewing fools would dare dry up a swamp "for the environment". As with every theory, your theory that agriculture is the worst thing since the Holocaust has holes in it. And these holes are large enough to make your statements irrelevant.

  • @NYLISE1 Why would you want to put something that died in your body? That's so vile. And bad Karma too. Even if livestock didn't emit a devastating amount of gas for our environment (which it does, as it has been proven by everyone from the United Nations down to every small farmer) -- the idea of putting into your living, breathing body, the carcass, body parts of something that was once alive is totally bizarre. Our ancestors did it because they didn't know any better. But we know better now.

  • @sherribailey75 Thanks, well said!

  • He looks like he eats humans.

  • @Guardian016 Lame.

  • I'm getting me a hummer now yay!

  • I accepted a challenge to "Meet My Meat" and go vegetarian for 30 days. A challenge to become informed about the cruelty and torture of factory farming and the environmental destruction it causes. Watch the Peta videos and SEE the truth. Well, I saw more than I ever wanted to, or could have ever imagined. How could I stop eating flesh and still continue to support the cruelty of the dairy and egg industries? Proud vegan since 8-15-09! Thank you, Cully Miller, for giving me such peace!

  • The China Study should be required reading for everyone. Three years vegan, 100lbs down and infinitely happier.

  • i hate stupid liberals. i shoot deer geese squirels and and even stray cats everyday. they taste good. but really i like to disect them. its very interesting to play with a nerve and watch an arm or leg figit

  • @tapoutordie89 I love shooting rednecks. The only problem is when you shoot them in the head they keep going because they have no brains. Shoot them in the genital region and AHA, they drop like a sack of bullshit because, you guessed it, that's where their brains are.

  • why hurt animals when you don't need to eat them to survive!

been a veggie eater for about..... my whole life!

  • I Die to do what's right and that is to walk in the light! go vegan !

  • Did the cows invent taxes? No. Humans did. Cows are smart!

  • there is derr humane meat! im Veg, but if anything i would stray away from Vegan, ovi sloughterhouses are terrible n factory farms are horrifying but family farms were the animals are cared for individually untill death, humans r ment to eat meat but Mass production is not the way. n dont think your all high n mighty 4 being Veg, being an activist who eats meat is better than a Veg non activist ... ps listen to Beef & Broccoli - immortal technique

  • With rights come responsibilities. Are these cows going to start paying taxes?

  • @formula1fan07 You're right. I'm going to go after my niece (almost a year and half old) and my nephew (7 years old) and tell them, "Better get jobs so you can pay taxes, otherwise your rights are going out the window."

Come to think of it, being a student who's currently unemployed, I suppose I have no rights, either, right?

  • @formula1fan07 Responsibilities only come with rights if you're a moral agent. The capacity to have responsibilities and be a moral agent is not required to have rights. Our society already recognizes rights of beings who aren't moral agents.

  • LOOOOOOVE you, Howard....AAAAAAMEN to what said in this video !!

  • I met him today. He's amazing

  • Class of 2009: you are going to have to figure out what it means to

be a human being on earth at a time when every living system is declining, and the rate of decline is

accelerating. Kind of a mind-boggling situation but not one peer-reviewed paper published in the

last thirty years can refute that statement. Basically, civilization needs a new operating system, you

are the programmers, and we need it within a few decades. -Paul Hawken

  • This planet came with a set of instructions, but we seem to have misplaced them. Important rules

like dont poison the water, soil, or air, dont let the earth get overcrowded, and dont touch the

thermostat have been broken. Buckminster Fuller said that spaceship earth was so ingeniously

designed that no one has a clue that we are on one, flying through the universe at a million miles

per hour, with no need for seatbelts, lots of room in coach, and really good food—but all that is

    changing.

  • There is invisible writing on the back of the diploma you will receive, and in case you didnt bring

lemon juice to decode it, I can tell you what it says:

You are Brilliant, and the Earth is Hiring. -Paul Hawken

Find out what you save when you eat low-fat raw vegan.

Using fruits and veggies as our main food source, we can actually produce 100 times more food per acre than we can on a standard western diet. We produce more greenhouse gas by cooking than driving in the U.S. -Dr. Doug Graham

  • that comment was for blasting caps

  • Oh god people stop fucking complaining. We as humans fucked up our earth. We let the government dictate what we do, we as people are strong, but too pussy to stick up for ourselves and our habitat. We're going against natures laws and now its fucking up. Its june and its fucking raining more than ever. Um if thats not a wake up call then I dont know what is..

  • animals dont deserve rights. If they did, they would argue for them themselves. Sorry.

This country imprisons 756 PEOPLE out of 100,000.

So, guess what flower children. We dont even care about each other, so forget the animals.

  • We all deserve to live in harmony & abundance & the way we will get there is by respecting one another. If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men.—Francis of Assisi

  • Nah, thats new age horseshit.

I am not advocating the way animals are treated. I can agree fully we should be better stewards. But see...we can say that we must be better stewards THATS what makes us responsible for how we conduct our affairs.

People in this video are trying to shove what they think down other peoples throats, while nobody is forcing meat into theirs. Thats as bad as anything we do to an animal.

Also, this is insensitive to christian beliefs, not that anybody cares.

  • St. Francis was a really good example of a christian and this was a quote from him. This talk is info. not readily available, there is no shoving anything down anyone's throat. Having my taxes that go to free water, subsidized grains and clean up of environmental disasters such as fish die offs from animal sewage leaks...that is more along the lines of shoving. The fact that you say this is as bad as the way these animals are treated shows your lack of knowledge or interest in the topic.

  • Christ was the ultimate Christian, for obvious reasons and he ate fish and meat.

  • You make are position sound like a personal preference, like we like blue pencils and thus think everyone else should use blue pencils. No. Whether you think our arguments are flawed or not, they are arguments about morality and rationality. We think eating meat is both morally and logically indefensible, thus we don't think anyone should do it. Besides we are not shoving, someone with an inquiring mind can listen, but you don't have to.

  • "animals dont deserve rights. If they did, they would argue for them themselves. ", so, for you new born humans, people with mental disabilities, senil people... don't deserve right neither, as they are not able to argue for it?

It remembers me a certain Hitler's philosophy... Power for the strongs over the weaks. Faschism is not far...

  • "It remembers me a certain Hitler's philosophy..."

Excuse me, you are the lunatic who is trying to make creatures that do not, AND WILL NEVER have the capacity to think past survival. You are comparing infants, our future, to animals. To me, you are the fascist. IN fact Hitler and many top Nazis were ANIMAL LOVERS and nature worshippers.

So YOU have much more in common with hitlers thought pattern. I am the one who protects people. So its no shock you are reminded of your leaders words.

  • False : Hitler "loved" only German Shepperds. When Nazis entered a jewish house, they did not doubt in shooting also their dog, for being a "jewish dog"...

They forbid all the vegetarian associations, and hounded vegetarian people, they had to hide or toleave the country, because if catched they were sent to concentration camps.

Hitler despised vegetarian philosophy and laughted at Gandhi.

  • He wanted young germans to be brutal, cruel and autoritary. Not weak nor gentle. Hitler loved sausage, liver bullets, game meat, caviar... he reduce his meat consumtion in order to reduce some flatulences problems.

The myth about Hitler vegetarian and animal lover is the work of his ministry of propaganda Joseph Goebbels, to make believe in an ascetic man, différent of the others.

"For animals, all humans are Nazis" Isaac Bashevis Singer, jew.

    From: "Eternal Treblinka" Charles Patterson.

  • I have no problem to assimilate children , myself and you to animals, because it is what we are. No problem, no frustration, as I consider that all animals, humans included deserve respect, life, absence of suffering, freedom and happyness, whatever their capacity to think. What matters is the capacity to feel, that we share with all others animals.

A lot of animal rights people are also involved in human rights movments, and social justice. It's not incompatible.

  • Animals, whom we have made our slaves, we do not like to consider our equal. Charles Darwin.

As a vegan, Animals are not any more my slaves. That is why I don't feel any frustration in considering them as my friends, deserving respect and rights.

  • The farmers who feed you, as a vegan, kill animals by the billion.

  • Unfortunately, by the only fact of living, we kill animals. They are "collateral" impacts of our life.

To kill no animal, the best is to suicide oneself... Personally, I want to live.

What we can do is to reduce as much as we can the number of those death, by choosing a vegan and if possible ecological way of life.

  • Nah, I chose the best diet for health. 90-95% vegetarian, rest meat with a calorie restriction.

  • So you are not so concerned about reducing the amount of death you generate... as we know (see the American Association of Dietetists) we can perfectly live without eating any animal products, even reducing diseases risks, such as cancers. we can perfectly live without generating volontary death or suffering... But some people think first in tehir own pleasure before others sentient beings' basical interests.

    Each one with his conscience...

  • I looooooove this man! Imagine what he came from to where he is now. THis is a true GENTLEman if there ever was one! Go Howard!

  • Me too!! I am totally fan!!

  • Yes, I totally agree. People make these oxymorons in order to attempt to make an 'immoral' act sound somewhat 'moral'. It's just a way for humans to justify their actions.

  • Watch: do paste inYoutube

KTUU 2008 Sarah Palin turkey interview

  • great!

  • go vegan , SI SE PUEDE!

  • I love Howard Lyman. Sure wish Oprah would get her head out of her ass and support animals in factory farms like she does dogs.

  • I saw him speak in Akron, Ohio... very powerful!!! I love him.

  • Excellent!

  • Thanks Howard! Vegans for life!

I like the part where he says: "Don't worry about the 80% of the population that are brain dead and follow head to tail, because when 20% have heard the truth and make a differance, the 80% of brain dead people will follow." That makes me feel a lot better.

He says a lot of really good quotes that are really inspiring.

  • Spotty, I would seriously like to break addiction to meat as I think most of us are addicted to thinking that we need meat to make a meal complete. How did you make the break? I know I would be much better off without eating meat! Thanks in advance!

  • Well I found it easier to slowly cut out meat so I began with red meat and pork and then chicken and finally fish. This was over a course of 9 months but you don't have to take that long! Just do what you feel okay with and eliminate more and more animal products from your food. You could start buying 'fake' or 'vegetarian' meat. It's really common and is usually found in the meat isle.

There are loads of websites and I'm sure youtube will have videos which can help you.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks very much! That's what I was thinking...start by cutting down on meat..don't have it every day and gradually withdraw from it while learning how to cook more and more vegetarian meals. : )

  • I recommend reading, because once you learn what else your eating when you eat animal products, it's like there was no other option for me but to stop eating meat. It ws so discusting and cruel that I became vegan in a week with no intentions before reading these books. You won't know until you do your reserch. Read "Skinny Bitch" then read "the Food Revolution" for more in depth info. These books provide a strong case to be a vegan.

  • It not so dificult just eat fruit all morning long then veggies for lunch and wheat and beans for dinner. There are also great substitutes, for example there is fake chicken, veggie burgers, soy ice cream, fake cheese, fake mayo. Good luck to you.

  • Yeah just take it at your own pace. Don't feel bad if you can't do it quickly. It can be difficult, not because of the lack of vegetables, but because other people can make it extremely hard for you. Other people will sometimes treat you badly because of your choice. My suggestion, ignore them, find other people who are also interested in vegetarianism and talk with them. Or, come online and talk with the millions of veges here.

  • I love Howard! :)

  • Howard is right on. He tells it like it is. The truth.. We love you Howard!!!! Keep up the great work. My parents have gone vegetarian Spring 2007.

  • it's so cool to see someone standing up and actually saying what i think.

  • I call bullshit. True, methane and nitrous oxide gases from livestock contribute more to global warming than car emissions. But CO2 emissions are still the biggest contributors, and it's from industry. Like the industries that build Hummers. There is no reason to eat meat, but no reason to drive a Hummer either.

  • Great video. Excellent speaker and certainly not brain dead!

  • Yes, but Al Gore has done a lot for the world. It's time to engage with him into a fair discussion about the meat industry. Not just shouting at him. We caring people must stick together and stop this division.

  • What a wonderful video! No one could have said it better. Cheers to Howard Lyman.

  • '...ooor a new hammer' that was fantastic. he is the special person. 1 in a milion.

  • thank you mr lyman. this is a good fellow, only looking out for the good of others, and not himself.

  • He is such a charismatic figure! What a guy!!!

Doesn't look like he's dying from a lack of meat!!

  • Great Speaker... The exrancher who will NOT eat Meat...got to love it
