American comedy doesn't seem to differ much. They're TV shows are probably much better than the British (take it back to ten years ago with shows like Fawlty Towers and Blackadder then this is wrong) but today with American shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm, America is much funnier. American stand-ups just don't cut it though. They're funny don't get me wrong but they're just not on the same level as Brtis with a possible exception of Reg D Hunter.

The lack of laughter immediately after Russell's line is due to the fact the audience thought there was going to be another line to follow it up or something. But once Russell started to walk away, the audience realised that the line simply was 'Which one of you stole my scotch egg" which they laughed at because it is such a normal/average and unexpected thing to say in Star Trek, hence the hesitant laughter. I am sure the intelligent portion of Youtube commenters would have realised this anyway

We a told this throughout the Scriptwriting for TV and Film course I am studying at Uni at the moment. Also I participated in an audience for an upcoming comedy show. Not a fan of russel if I'm honest he has a very immature nature and that constant nomnomnom thing he does really pisses me of. The bbc throw one of the grestest comedians out for being risque (boyle) and keep russel just cause he appeals to little girls and pubescent boys, sry if my comments offend but I'm a fan off comedy not immaturity.

@CassidyLL1995 yes your 16 and truly entitled to your own opinion (which I respect), but boyle appealed to all ages because his form of comedy whilst being extremely dark could be immature, x-rated, witty, completely bongers and down right offensive, its this variety of comedy he provides that was mock the week, but russell (who obviously has some form of talent or he wouldn't be) is continual with his penis jokes and bananas, I think MTW's viewing figures since boyle left tell a story.

@metalrulezU I know what you're saying, and I personally haven't watched MTW since Russell left, as Andy annoys the hell out of me and Dara and Hugh aren't enough sustain my interest for a full show. My point is that Russell appeals to the younger generation, he left mock the week and got his own show whereas Frankie left and near enough dissapeared.

@CassidyLL1995 Frankie is deemed somewhat a liability due to his risque humour and as a result he dont get much work, Russell howards good news is appalling and when it first aired it was just russell going through the weeks news, this was very boring and he was struggling to make it entertaining so the show was changed clips and guests etc where added to help make it entertaining but its still absolute crap,Frankie is a legend he is a non comformist and 1000 times funnier than russell howard!!

The lack of laughter immediately after Russell's line is due to the fact the audience thought there was going to be another line to follow it up or something. But once Russell started to walk away, the audience realised that the line simply was 'Which one of you stole my scotch egg" which they laughed at because it is such a normal/average and unexpected thing to say in Star Trek, hence the hesitant laughter. I am sure the intelligent portion of Youtube commenters would have realised this anyway

A film that is entirely about humour, audience reaction and jokes IS nothing to do with this joke despite the fact its intent is humour, the context is of the video is based on auidence reaction and it is a joke. You do know all their comedy/satire programs are all staged, so the audience might have heard this a few times before they got the final take which kind of hinders my statement of it being crap (cause they've already heard it) and also yours (thinking there would be another punchline) but I thought I'd throw that in cause this argument is getting rather good and U seem to be a bit annoyed of simple utube banter

I think you have Annoyed/Sarcasm confusion my friend. I am enjoying this "argument". I am well aware about the BBC, how multiple takes occur and how alot of these shows are staged. We a told this throughout the Scriptwriting for TV and Film course I am studying at Uni at the moment. Also I participated in an audience for an upcoming comedy show. However it is usual that these 'joke' rounds have one take per joke otherwise they wouldn't be very good comedians. PS: I live for banter
