However, there is a polytheistic religion that's thriving at the moment. It's called Hinduism. Has about 950 million followers, apparently, and I'll bet very few of them think it's a myth.

And about Him being a loving God. All I know is that I wouldn't give MY only son for someone who hated me, persecuted me, and cursed my name. But God did. @utubepunk God created us in the first place because He wanted someone to fellowship with. When He could no longer fellowship with us due to our sin, He destroyed the earth. And He didn't destroy anyone innocent. He saved the ones who were still living for Him. And God can NOT be in the presence of sin. THAT is why He sent His ONLY Son to die for us. Because He wants us to be in heaven with Him. But because of our sin, we were unable to go. Until His Son's blood covered our sins.

I call myself a Christian and I am unsure who created us I don't know if any one entity did or what did. I live by the morals and guidelines of the bible though. I think there is a supreme being above us. That is just my own personal take.

For a 14-year-old, he seems to have a stronger faith than you do. My opinion, one that is Biblically rooted, is that God will let us speak for him because that allows us to have a free will. If God ripped the sky open and spoke to everyone, that would eliminate our free will. We would have to believe in Him, whether we wanted to or not. It isn't faith if we don't have a choice.
@zrhodes3 I never said my faith was stronger. As a matter of fact I help out at a Christian Youth Center. I just have a different set of morals. I show respect to the Christian faith. I think the way to haven is by the way you live your life. I do not try and turn people against Christianity. I believe in morals. I try and put that in the youth of today. If you come across as a bible thumper to someone they are less likely to listen to what you have to say.

It would just be a fact and we would all accept it. Thus we would have no free will, right? To me, yes, God exists. But this is a consequence of my free will. I chose to seek God and I found Him. The Bible has only been updated by texts that were only closer in date to the originals, i.e. less copying-errors. And the different versions vary from literal translations to more modern free-verse translations. They all say the same things, just in a different style. Your right we don't need a Christian version of sharia law, we need Christ's version of love in believer's hearts more. The OT does have wild stories, mainly because of how wicked people and countries became. They rejected God's laws and we warned them of what would happen. In fact he gave them chance after chance to turn from their wickedness but they would not, so for God to be just he had to destroy many of them. Its like for a policeman to do his job, he may have to kill a serial killer.
@Oneaudience Sorry- I don't consider innocent women & children to be on the same level of serial killers. Did god not see the whole "wicked" thing coming? He flooded the earth, why- to wipe the slate clean and because his children were a mistake (thought he was perfect). However, did the flood erase original sin? Nope. I think many of our forefathers value of freedom was rooted in God and disagreed with how much of the constitution has been interpreted. Furthermore, the God I believe in, doesn't need anyone to worship him and only does what is right. It seems that it was right for him to create man to be a part of his perfect plan. And just as judges don't always judge fairly, and just as sadly neither do Christians act like Christ much of the time, it doesn't change who he was though or how he loved

Thus when man choose apart from God by sinning, because of his great love for us he did not destroy us by withdrawing his grace from us completely. Instead “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. Meaning God became a perfect man, he came to earth and died on a cross in our place, so that we could become united with him and made perfect.

Well because God knew that it was good for him to make beings to lavish his love upon and be loved back by, so he created man. But for us to truly accept his love and love him back, we must be freely given the choice to do so or not. Just as a good parent can not force their kids to love them, so freewill is in God’s plan but he doesn’t desire for us to choose to not accept his love. Yet we did when we sinned.

In the Bible yes there are a lot of things that may make God and his people seem cruel and even barbaric but one must keep in mind that many of the events of the Bible are not about God and his good will for man but definitions and consequences for sin, which is choosing to act apart from God. If God is good and all-powerful, he either cannot allow evil or must one day destroy evil. So why would God allow evil to exist in the first-place right?

See, they think I'm an athiest, how judgmental. Because I don't share the same beliefs as them, then I must not BELIEVE IN GOD AT ALL. Well they are wrong. However, there is a polytheistic religion that's thriving at the moment. It's called Hinduism. Has about 950 million followers, apparently, and I'll bet very few of them think it's a myth.

@utubepunk God created us in the first place because He wanted someone to fellowship with. When He could no longer fellowship with us due to our sin, He destroyed the earth. And He didn't destroy anyone innocent. He saved the ones who were still living for Him. And God can NOT be in the presence of sin. THAT is why He sent His ONLY Son to die for us. Because He wants us to be in heaven with Him. But because of our sin, we were unable to go. Until His Son's blood covered our sins.

For a 14-year-old, he seems to have a stronger faith than you do. My opinion, one that is Biblically rooted, is that God will let us speak for him because that allows us to have a free will. If God ripped the sky open and spoke to everyone, that would eliminate our free will. We would have to believe in Him, whether we wanted to or not. It isn't faith if we don't have a choice.

I think the way to haven is by the way you live your life. I do not try and turn people against Christianity. I believe in morals. I try and put that in the youth of today. If you come across as a bible thumper to someone they are less likely to listen to what you have to say.

@zrhodes3 Sigh. I don't pretend to have all the answers, unlike some who throw out bible verses w/o really thinking for themselves. All I have to do is read the bible to know your god isn't love. If I did the stuff he did, no way would I be called a lover- more like Hitler or worse. Xtians have the tendency to think they're superior to non-believers. When this happens, there's great suffering. Inquisition, holy wars, etc. Rationalize I can slaughter everyone because god's on my side!

The Bible has only been updated by texts that were only closer in date to the originals, i.e. less copying-errors. And the different versions vary from literal translations to more modern free-verse translations. They all say the same things, just in a different style. There are many reasons why I believe, and the greatest of all these is because I have felt Him. Because even right now, I feel Him speaking through me. @utubepunk The Bible is more relevant, because it is the only book that is God's Word. He doesn't force people to be evil. They have the same choice we all have. To change. And yes you could go through and nitpick your way through the Old Testament and find many similar things, but you can't avoid the New Testament, where Jesus fulfills the Mosaic Law. No, if there were babies and children that weren't evil that knew no better than they would most likely be saved. Again, my knowledge is limited.

@utubepunk Some people wonder why God allows us to be able to do evil, if He doesn't want us to. God doesn't want us to love him; he wants us to WANT to love Him. If He wanted us to be good all the time, He would have had to of made us WITHOUT free will. That way, we'd love Him automatically. But then we'd be like robots, so It'd be nothing special. Love isn't just an emotion, it's an action. We couldn't show Him love without free will, but then free will gives us the choice to do evil. Paradox.

I get mad because its not enough that you have your own religion- its that most xtians HAVE to shove it down other ppl's throat. When that doesn't work- you use the govt to force it on others. And if I know anything, I know that God loves you more than you can imagine and he longs to give you and every person the life that we don't deserve, a life filled with peace and joy and grave and love. Your right we don't need a Christian version of sharia law, we need Christ's version of love in believer's hearts more. The OT does have wild stories, mainly because of how wicked people and countries became. They rejected God's laws and we warned them of what would happen. In fact he gave them chance after chance to turn from their wickedness but they would not, so for God to be just he had to destroy many of them. Its like for a policeman to do his job, he may have to kill a serial killer.

@Oneaudience Sorry- I don't consider innocent women & children to be on the same level of serial killers. Did god not see the whole "wicked" thing coming? He flooded the earth, why- to wipe the slate clean and because his children were a mistake (thought he was perfect). However, did the flood erase original sin? Nope. So god killed everyone and didn't even fix his own mistake. And btw, ppl being curious by nature and eating a magical fruit to gain knowledge isn't a grave sin in my book.

I think many of our forefathers value of freedom was rooted in God and disagreed with how much of the constitution has been interpreted. Furthermore, the God I believe in, doesn't need anyone to worship him and only does what is right. It seems that it was right for him to create man to be a part of his perfect plan. And just as judges don't always judge fairly, and just as sadly neither do Christians act like Christ much of the time, it doesn't change who he was though or how he loved

Thus when man choose apart from God by sinning, because of his great love for us he did not destroy us by withdrawing his grace from us completely. Instead “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. Meaning God became a perfect man, he came to earth and died on a cross in our place, so that we could become united with him and made perfect.

Well because God knew that it was good for him to make beings to lavish his love upon and be loved back by, so he created man. But for us to truly accept his love and love him back, we must be freely given the choice to do so or not. Just as a good parent can not force their kids to love them, so freewill is in God’s plan but he doesn’t desire for us to choose to not accept his love. Yet we did when we sinned.

In the Bible yes there are a lot of things that may make God and his people seem cruel and even barbaric but one must keep in mind that many of the events of the Bible are not about God and his good will for man but definitions and consequences for sin, which is choosing to act apart from God. If God is good and all-powerful, he either cannot allow evil or must one day destroy evil. So why would God allow evil to exist in the first-place right?

See, they think I'm an athiest, how judgmental. Because I don't share the same beliefs as them, then I must not BELIEVE IN GOD AT ALL. Well they are wrong. Religion and God are 2 completely different things. Whatever one perceives to be God is another story. I was forced to go to church and go to a christian school my whole childhood. People praying and following while their preacher spends donations on hookers and booze, THAT is the church experience.

If the preacher is spending member's tithing on hookers & blow, I guess that's a less of a sin than a catholic priest preying on children. There's a reason church indoctrinates children @ such a young age- to brainwash them so they don't question anything- turning them into sheep bleating the same chorus and never questioning the party line w/ critical thinking.

@chickenbiscito I do good works, as a DeMolay we are taut to be free and think in good mind and spirit and to keep our deeds good and square. I also have a faith that is based in just that a leap of faith. I also know that without fear there is no good, because the fear of doing bad deeds creates good deeds.

You are wrong, inthis wrld, people DON'T fear doing bad things. People DO fear doinggood things less they get shot by the local gang. One should do good because they WANT to, one should do good when goodness comes from inside. Not because you are scared god will send you to hell. I dont care what you are or what youve been taught, I taught MYSELF about the world, just like anyone else can. People out there NEED to see some good, its getting bad, do good because thats the RIGHT THING

@chickenbiscito Hey. I have friends in some of the gangs in my area bloods and crips alike, Yes I live in a gehto what of it? Do you even know what the right thing is, morals came from the bible and Most importantly the ten commandments, even the us constitution has over 200 direct and indirect quotes from the bible. aka The good / Holy book, And if it is so terrible than why do people in courts swear in on a Bible. And if you taught the world to yourself how good are your sources?

@chickenbiscito Then what do you live for, You say life is terrible and death is nothing so what do you think your doing why are you hear to moan about a pointless argument and beat a dead horse, go out and smell a rose, believing in god and being a christian has helped me all through life. Also you say you don't fear bad things, well most bad things like murder for example, are against the law, so you don't fear the law?

@chickenbiscito Well this is the last time I am going to reply to this so you can go mope and think about death and in effect have a crappy life, And I am going to go have good fun in my life and not anticipate but also not fear death, not saying I'm better just saying some choices are, I still believe there are some good lessons you could learn from the bible, (I think your looking in the wrong places) of the bible & the oldest religion, Judaism turned into Christianity,

the bible is supposed to correspond with real live places,just like greek mythology,thats the DESIGN of story don't you see?Religion makes people feel like they are ashamed of themselves, that they need saving, they are nothing without belief, and eventually it causes pain and confusion and wars over the position to be right. Why can't people come together and bond with the common ground they all come from different walks of life,its only natural for people to have different beliefs

I'm sorry? It is a book about JESUS, who is supposed to be the SON of GOD, NOT GOD HIMSELF. Christians confuse that.
Whatever GOD IS, which is BEYOND the understanding and comprehension of a human mind, I promise you, any PERSON who tells you they KNOW what God does is quite insane. Tons of Jesus's live in mental wards and a LOT of people who hear God in their head are too. Like the people who say god told them to kill their child to send them to heaven. lol.. "Biography of God"

you can tell me what god is, then a buddhist can tell me what god is, then a muslim can tell me what god is , and so on and so forth. You have beliefs, other people have different beliefs than you and they believe theirs JUST AS MUCH if not MORE than you to the point they kill and become extremists. there ARE christians extremists, the olympic bombings just to name one,not to mention abortion clinic attacks.I have my own beliefs so dont tell ME who god is as if you know more than me.

yes yes, god is a human, how obvious,of course god is also a human,what else in the universe would god possibly be? I grew up in christian school and church so i dont need you to tell me about it,i already know.But they aren't MY beliefs,so when some..PERSON..just like me,thinks they are so gifted that they know the answers to the universe and even know what GOD is,i cant help but say something about it,but youre right,I'll just hush and enjoy the song,take care my friend

all i am saying is,have your OWN values and morals,your OWN beliefs,YOU decide,anyone who ever existed is JUST as much human as you,you can decide what is going on for yourself,and personally i dont agree with christianity,and any archeological or scientific evidence proves that the bible isnt accurate geologically or anything.people used to think the world was flat,they used to think the earth was the center of the universe.its time to move on,God is pure,religion is of man.

It is true that each of us has our own individual values, morals, and beliefs. It is true that we all decide these things for ourselves. However, what WE think has nothing to do with the actual truth. Christianity claims to be true, and that claim is independent of what ANYONE thinks. Whether you believe it is true or not, whether you accept its morals or not, whether you accept its values or not has nothing to do with its actual credibility as reality.

And there is not only both archeological and scientific, but also historical and experiential evidence that support Biblical claims. Look it up, do your research.

Look, I don't care anymore. I know whats real and what smells like bullshit. There are NO historical facts proving the bible. If you are referring to actual places and stuff being in the bible, well the same is with Greek Mythology. Athena's temple was a real place were medusa was raped by poseidon. I have done PLENTY ENOUGH research. The earth being flat has everything to do with it,people learn/become advanced,and how ridiculous their prior beliefs were. The bible is astronomical

Nothing in the Bible is against the advancement of human beings. Find me a verse that is.
There are many historical facts that prove the Bible. If you want one to start, Jesus was a real man who lived on Earth. Many historians and scholars recognize that as a fact...and the year system which you use references the person of Jesus. B.C. means Before Christ and A.D. means "The Year of the Lord."
