Nice solo, but Ice is the most perfect piece of music by anyone. The studio version on "I can see your house from Here" is the best. Latimer does not hold anything back on that track.

Stationary Traveller is one of the most complete pieces of music ever recorded, the beautiful start, the pan pipes, then a guitar solo that would match any guitarist on earth for style, technique, grace, feel and heart. Ice is incredible, but ST has superceded it...

I have been mad on Andrew's playing from the get-go. I love ALL his solos. With Andrew, the simpler the solos, the better they are. Less is most definitely more. One of the greatest MUSICIANS of all time IMO. Getting into an argument here - for me his best solo is the acoustic one in WHO WE ARE. So there. :D

It really is!!! I thought so since i've heard the song in 1986 for the first time, and in my oppinion it still is!! (best solo ever).

Only the version on 'a live record' is even better I think.

@kirtashgaara -I have been a Camel fan since 1974 and Andy have given me many great guitar solos, my favorite is the live version of Stationary traveller and the studio version of Echoes-very

much passion and feeling goes into Andy's playing, I wish he get's fully recovered soon!

Nice scenes. Been Camel fan since 76, I will live my life out with them. Gotta say that "Ice" has to be not only one of Andrews best solos, bit it rates very high (in my book) as being one of the best of any artists out there, very underrated. Andrew's lines and phraseology are unsurpassed by anyone. Sad to hear about his illness, glad he's got Susan there to help.

Ice still is the best for me but Lawrence, For Today are close seconds. I discovered Camel with Summer Lightning and remember going to see them in 1980 to hear it. They didn't play it but played Ice which I'd never heard before. To this day I remember being on another plane listening to it. I couldn't talk for 5 minutes after it. The only time I felt the same in a concert was with : I am so afraid of Fleetwood mac again in early 80's

Hey! Nice work! From The Snow Goose. You think this is the best solo? Well, I can't make up my mind which solo Andy Latimer has made that is best the best. But you should check out his solos on: Lies, Lawrence, For Today, Coming of Age, The Hour Candle, Hopeless Anger, Straight to my Heart, Rose of Sharon, Mother Road, Sasquatch, Drafted, Fox Hill, Ice, and basicly all the other Camel songs. At least from Nude and onwards.

I agree with you, camelandu2. But the most perfect solo I've ever heard, and not only from camel, but from all the bands that once walk along the earth, is Ice. I still listen to it, and every time I do that, i get goose bumps. And the one from Coming of age almost makes me cry last week. I can't yet understand how this perfect band wasn't that famous... The music is perfect, the compositions, the arrangements, even the orchestral ones... Simply perfect. (Sorry for my English, I'm Argentinian)

@Aristillus1 I agree. There are many excellent solos of Andrew, but "Ice" on "Coming of Age" is outstanding and gives me incredible emotions. I think every Gilmour and Pink Floyd fan should listen to Camel: the only band with the same quality level I have ever heard, both in composing and performing!

@Egondv No, not really (though it looked like it on my comment). I think Andy's sound is best from Nude and onwards, though it has always been great. All his solos are great, so unbelievably melodic and with SO much feel.

@camelandu2 Best solo? I do not know but what I do know is that The snow goose was the best piece of rock Music ever written in that Era one of the first at mixing rock with Classical with success. These guys are never talked about in music circles...that is one of those British music mysteries
