Sometimes the head gasket can blow and water and oil can mix in the passage ways in the cylinder heads and block. Mine blew apart in between the two cylinders missing oil and water passages. it had no compression on two cylinders and the burnt air fuel mix was flowing into the adjacent cylinder making all sorts of bad things happen.

And yes it can be expensive :(

mine started to blow white smoke, i checked the oil and it was milky :( mechanic wanted $2000 to fix it so i just went and got a reconditioned head for $300 and bort that haynes book and did it myself :D that was like 2 years ago and mine is still going fine but dam when something breaks in a magna it can be expensive >:(
