@optisoft12 Sorry you feel that way! We are not selling anything in this video -- we are providing a way for non-Asterisk professionals to become familiar with the Asterisk environment. The free downloadable software shown and used in the video creates a fully-functional IP-PBX from a standard PC.
@optisoft12 I guess you had a different expectation of what you would see. Do you care to share it? Maybe we could make another video that would meet that expectation?
@XorcomPBX I was looking for "Asterisk PBX Creation and Configuration in Only 3 Minutes".. basically take a blank box then install and setup asterisk to make and receive basic phone calls. Nothing overly fancy. I don't know if that can be done in a 3 minute video, but it would be nice. I'm looking at switching to Asterisk from Cisco because of its low "free" software license cost. Cisco is way too expensive.
@optisoft12 In that case, the "Rapid Live" utility mentioned in the video would suit you. Although it is not recommended as a substitute for an operational system, it does prepare your "box" by setting up the Linux/Asterisk/DAHDI environment so that you can become familiar with the Asterisk option. The Rapid Live is available for free download from our Web site in either ISO or IMG format.
@optisoft12 Pronunciation is a cultural issue. Also, see electronixTech's comment below -- seems that sounding out the acronym is engineering jargon. Once again, I apologize for disappointing you...
This said you were going to show configuration. This didn't show any configuration. You overly simplified what is going on. Also, it's L.E.D. not Lead. How do you not know that?
@achristopher419 Sorry to disappoint you! The idea was to show how the ports configuration is automatic when you use the Astribank, which was specially designed for Asterisk. It really is that simple! For more detailed info see our on-line documentation in the Support section of our Web site.
As for sounding out the acronym instead of saying the letters -- this seems to be a cultural issue (see electronixTech's remark, below).
At the phone company we called them lens,, I really don't think it matters what she calls them as long as you know what she is talking about.
I was wondering,, does this support PRI with DID and can you do digit stripping from the banks software? IE 2 digit or 3-4 digit? and is this really a single line platform only?
@James1toknow Thanks for your comment. As for your question: yes, we support PRI with DID and allow stripping/addition of numbers. Please note that the phone number manipulation is actually a function of Asterisk (rather than of the Astribank, which only provides the physical interface to the telephony lines).
I think she should make a point of saying in full Public Branch eXchange instead of PBX. Like wise it's L.E.D. not "lead" as she keeps pronouncing. If you're going to read out acronyms, then read them out by letter, not as a word. Light Emitting Diode!
Actually I have been working in the electronics industry for a number of years and all the electronics engineers I have been around pronounce LED as "lead" so your critique doesn't really hold water. PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange as well over a Public Switched Telephone Network.
You are right -- we do not sell direct. So, the best prices you can get are through our distribution channel.
As for getting prices: did you know you can get an electronic quote for the 'PBX system of your dreams' within 24 hours? Just use our on-line Product Configurator on our Web site (click the main banner image on the home page).
Get it right. Put COMMERCIAL in your description so I won't come to it. Stop leeching off open source community with your commercial crap.

@XorcomPBX Once again, not what I was looking for. Did you really say "Lead not L.E.D."? Do you even know anything about telecom?

That looks cool, but what the difference with a Standard asterisk server + switchs ?
poussin78640 2 years ago
It looks pretty cool, but it's a pain to find out about the prices of an Astribank box and to buy one.
Why isn't there an option to put my credit card and get a box in the mail?
There's no need to feed the middleman (a.k.a. distributor)
