  • its funny...i cant help to think that it looks like a toy...i guess thats how they felt in the 60s when the m16 started being more widely used

  • @RECONHELLROY

I feel the same way. they are very light too, that doesn't help

  • Is it hard to field strip a SCAR

  • its weird but i really love monolithic rails. and quad rails, theres just so much potential

  • Also, the iron sights don't block your view as much before you have enough XP for a Red Dot.

  • This is a great gun when you are leveling up in Modern Warfare 3. Real accurate.

  • my favorite rifle

  • Nice camera I'm not being sarcastic

  • the fn looks lik crap i see the concept but id still be makeing the m1 garand's at springfield armory cause its a american design that fires the big buraly 30-6 not a belgin piece of plastic that fires a small caliber round

  • @bossmod97 you win today's e-tard award..

  • the stock looks like a boot. are they coming out with a more traditional looking stock

  • @ST4leave

doubt it.. there is a reason for the shape of course

  • @ST4leave Haha it really does look like a Boot.

  • @S1lverwing next they'll come out with a stock that looks like a italian stiletto.

  • @ST4leave why do people base opinion on how a gun looks?

Like seriously its the most idiotic thing ive ever heard of, most people have never held the gun theyre shit talking about and if ugly is a concern you shouldnt be allowed near any guns, they arent a fasion statement, youve seen too many movies dude....

  • @Taud Keep your dogs on A leash there SIR, no need for an attack, I repeat I’m a friend not foe. I understand where you are coming from; I would chose functionality over aesthetics any day. I was simply just showing my opinion on how the gun looks. I bet you don’t get mad at people for calling the grip on C 98 Mauser as a broom handle. Who knows maybe the aesthetics of the stock looking like a boot will lead to people nick naming it the “Boot”.

  • @Taud And I do own firearms, rather than going down a list I just tell you my favorite it is a Springfield M1 Garand.

I’m no expert when it comes to guns but I have more knowledge of guns when compared to the average gun owning American. I don’t get my info from call duty I’m not one of those guys.

  • @ST4leave Well you could have fooled me with your only statement being about the guns looks, after all youre the one that mentioned CoD too, i didnt say anything about that shit

Talkin about dogs on a leesh? you had to write two paragraphs to get your point across and make sure i know you "know more than the average american" and list your favorite gun, like it somehow gives you more credibility, I'd expect than comment from a 12 year old thats all....

  • @Taud That comment*

  • @Taud Well you came after me there Sir. If you want to get at someone for judging the gun on its looks then go after bossmod97 comment up above

  • @ST4leave

If you have ever used one you would see why, the SCAR's stock provides a much better cheek weld than any AR15 stock, putting the sight plane at a higher point on the body. However VLTOR is offering a kit that will allow you to use a AR buffer tube and stock assy, but I have no idea why anyone would want to do so...

  • @shammons556 It just depends on the state of mind I suppose, you just feel more comfortable with what you are all ready use too.

  • @ST4leave The stock looks sick

  • Comment removed

  • thanks for the reply still either round would fuck up anyone standing in the way

  • Dear Santa...

  • well in probly 10 years we will be seeing these instead of m4s

  • @SuperExtremeAirsoft Maybe not, it would be less than 10 years, but the HK416 is looking like the very likely rifle to replace the M4. The HK416 is very impressive in durability and all it is, is a modified M4. All you have to do is upgrade the current M4s, which would be very cheap and economical and considering it had very high reliability, it will be the one. Now the SCAR and ACR will be duking it out for the special forces.

  • @Ah1692 You are wrong. The M4's are direct gas impingment. The HK416's are piston. They are two totally different guns. The M4 is a piece of garbage. I have not fired or even handled an HK416, but they don't look like anything special. Maybe to the HK fanboys, but not to your average gun owner.

  • @theboredman1 M4 is a solid weapon dude, proven itself more capable than any of these new guns. The HK416 is an UPGRADE of the M4. They are different but you CAN upgrade the M4A1s to be HK416s. Go check it out dude...

  • i think the scar-h fires a ak round or a .308 nato round which is pretty close but if anyone knows for sure i would like to know to

  • @ifaciNATE

scar-h shoots the 7.62x51 .. not the "AK round"

  • @GunWebsites M14 round :3

  • @ifaciNATE ok cool its pretty close though ahah

  • @ifaciNATE

They shoot the same sized projectile, a 7.62mm bullet, but the AK casing is 39mm long and the Scar casing is 51mm long... hence the names 7.62x39mm and the 7.62x51mm

  • @ifaciNATE AK rounds are 7.62x39 or 5.45x39, not 7.62x51 (.308).

    The Scar-H is a .308, the Scar-L carbine is a 5.56mm

  • this gun is almost plastic.

  • @SuperRip7 Everything except the bolt, bolt carrier, upper receiver, barrel, the pins that hold the gun together, rails, mag, sights, gas piston, and mag release. Every thing else is polymer which is basically a almost indestructible plastic. The rifle is well put together. Don't let the plastic fool you.

  • @RBKproductions1989

same reason you are now blocked..

  • ...to continue, my biggest complaint is the lack of rail. I have monkey arms and I like to stretch.

  • not to be a fanboy but it is a very nice shooting system. I would say the recoil is somewhere between a Carbine or a midlength. (That may be to the credit of the muzzle break IDK) The balance is great if you can teach yourself to always hold it correctly. I've been meaning to pick one up but I'm still waiting for the rest of my BCM parts for that build. ...I've almost given up waiting. :0/ Great Video Gweb.

  • I think if I was going to spend a stupid amount of money on a cool looking rifle it would be a SCAR.

  • The Scar FN with its Black repaint just looks stunning. A lot better than its original "Desert" Paint job, don't you think?

  • Are you able to fire the rifle with the stock folded? Seems like it would interfere somehow.

  • @GunWebsites Thank you. Have they said when they are going to release a .308 version?

  • @screaminghellion

    they are already available

  • @screaminghellion you can slide it off in about 4 seconds if you feel like rambo-ing it

  • @screaminghellion nah its fine the cases clear the stock easily.

  • Moar SCAR!

[That's like me saying "guns" on Matt's blog..]

  • @Hiluxtaco

I'm telling ya, we have some tasty SCAR stuff on the way.. gotta wait for tax stamps...

  • @GunWebsites To quote Bart Scott of the New York Jets:

    "Can't wait!"

  • @Hiluxtaco

about 10 mins to the next video, any guesses what it is?

    (no, not the SCAR)

  • @ConnorLH55555 good choice considering that the bushmaster made a real crappy version of an ACR

  • @ignignot765 NO

  • @TopSoul13 it's the 16s, the civilian equivalent of the SCAR light.

  • is this a scar heavy or scar light?

  • @ConnorLH55555 Yes! they go for around for $3000. I'm sure it doesn't cost that much to make them but its worth it. :D

  • @ConnorLH55555 When I saw this I thought it was airsoft. don't get me wrong I love airsoft but I was looking for the real Mk-16s. I really want one.

  • i love the SCAR. it is a cannon in your arms and sure the "recon" ones are extremely light but look into the heavy version. it is amazing to be behind and my weapon of choice

  • I've handled a few and fired some, while they shoot very nice, I'm always worried about breaking the stock on them. Whether it be the stock latch or the cheek rise button. When TangoDown releases their metal replacement parts and extended rail I will definately be looking at getting one of these.

  • @ignignot765 kid your stupid

  • @ignignot765 kid your stupid

  • it looks and sounds like plastic

  • please to the uploaders of gun reviews when you do a review of an airsoft gun put airsoft in the video title so people looking out for the real gun review dont waste their time seriously that is annoying

  • @alexguerreiro15 this is a real gun not airsoft

  • Are the receivers made from plastic as well? Has that tacky, plasticky sound to it.

  • can you change the but stock because it looks like a space boot but i like that it folds

  • That looks sick... I'm gonna get one next year hopefully.

  • best gun eva !!

  • Hail Belgium for creating this magnificent weapon.

  • @ignignot765

    sure ..

  • Thanks nice review. I would love to have a SCAR-S. But I think Sig 556 is close enough at less than half the price I doubt the recoil is much difference cause the piston system is similar.

  • @ratkic86 I moved to Malaysia and right now I am in Australia for my studies but either case, gun ownership is very hard to accomplish. In Australia a genuine reason must be given and self defence is not a genuine reason...in Malaysia you have to get permission from the police in order to own a firearm and in this case it will take months if not years to get an answer. As for Singapore I vaguely remember that a citizen is not allowed to own full auto weapons or pistols above .32 cal

  • @ratkic86 I think its like around $2500...give or take depending on the gunsmith

  • The gun looks like a FISH lol

  • @ungd1

Uh, the XM8 video is that way -->

  • @tmaned haha

  • This is a beautiful piece of weaponry.

  • sounds plasticy

  • are these available to the public?

  • @Diabl0Pabl0

    yes

  • @GunWebsites whats the price

  • Is this gun reliable as the AK?

  • @7commenter7 nothing is more reliable than an AK ill tell you that now

  • @shotgunn9 i agree with you, the AK is unbreakable but it would need a few upgrades to keep up with rifles such as the SCAR H whose accuracy and handling is better......

  • @shotgunn9 Depends on your definition of the word "reliable". I.E. I'm an enemy at 300 yards equipped with an m4. You have an AK. The M4 in this case is more reliable.

  • @jalemo21 this arguement is as old as the AK47 itself. i shoot my AK just as far as my AR-15 and they perform equally well. Also lets assume we're in ragged dirty conditions during this shootout. in that respect the AK is more reliable.

  • @jalemo21 When you look at the spec of each rifle. An M4 would have more mobility and accuracy but not enough power. An AK-47 on the other hand would have more power (7.64mm Ammunition) (and in technical terms its a machinegun in rifle form) but it has more weight and has terrible stability if you watch an AK being fired you can see the barrel wobbling.

  • wouldnt the adjustable stock be kinda flimsy? bad for stability?

  • So, this is basically a 2500$ AR-15 with a different stock?

  • @whiteyonwelfare

yeah only its look better, it preforms better, its lights, has a gas piston which makes it more reliable, oh the stock not only adjust but folds and has a check rest.

in my opinion FN has put a good price tag in this. i mean you can get this for 2,500 or spend 1,000 on ar15 and put a $300 piston in it, and spend $2,000 on parts that will ware down more often than that of the scar. overall scar owns ar15

  • Sounds like a plastic piece of shit gonna buy one though

  • What is the name of this song

  • I find many things in common between this one and the Bushmaster ACR.

  • @CloneCaptainV2224 That's because with each generation of development the ACR started to "steal" more and more of the SCAR's features. Look at the first protoypes compared to the final ones and then the production version... Even the stock is direct "loan".

  • @SqoundreL Magpul didn't steal anything. the ACR has more features than the SCAR. I think you wanted to say that ACR stole from SCAR the folding stock, right? the features of both ACR and SCAR foldingstocks are taken from the UMP 45 and M4 or Uzi or whatever weapon that has a folding stock..

also, Magpul said that they wanted to make a gun better than the M16 not the SCAR or the M4. FN wanted to replace the M4 and Magpul wanted to replace the M16.

they are both awesome guns anyway. =)

  • The US military really needs to integrate this as the M4/M16 replacement.

  • @WitnessMELOx15 horrible idea

  • @556forlunch why?

  • @WitnessMELOx15 you can't give the military a rifle because it looks good, and has not proven itself

  • @556forlunch more like brilliant idea. This gun performs superbly. Very few stoppages, flexible to mission needs, ambidextrous, two rifles chambering two different rounds, compact. The list goes on man. Theres a reason are SoF uses this weapon...

  • @WitnessMELOx15 have you ever heard of the AR-10?and you cant truly know a gun unless you shoot it

  • @556forlunch you know to be honest, if i had to pick a replacment for the m4/m16, i would pick the Barrett Rec7. That thing is a monster. It can also easily take on the role of a designated marksman since it has the range of 600 meters.

  • @WitnessMELOx15 thats a great rifle

  • @WitnessMELOx15 yeah i agree with the upgrade to 6.8 or 6.5g but i dont think that the military or nato is going to adopt another round. think they have too much invested in 5.56/ 7.62. fn is right on with not developing a multi cal rifle, just a role oriented platform, mk16/ mk17. and both rifles are bad ass.

  • Any videos of the rifle in action?

  • How reliable is it??cleaning??does it need constant cleaning like an AR-15??

  • This gun seems pretty nice but it looks like its 90% plastic.

    Btw nice video. :)

  • i shot one of the L's, the iron sights are orgasmic

  • yes i know he said that he doesnt know much about the scar, but i have to complain that for a review of the scar, one should mention that the gun can be fired with a folding stock, and that the gas release can be used with the suppressor so it has a more simple design

  • Comparatively speaking, you would get more "bang for the buck" buy opting to purchase a POF-16-MRR-308-RECON over the SCAR. I know some will disagree, but please do some research before you argue against my point. SCAR's have a polymer lower receiver, POF's have a aluminum alloy lower, etc, etc. Just because the military has "adopted" a rifle doesn't mean that it is void of defect. The original variation of the M16 was an absolute failure during the pre-Vietnam war, and cost many American lives.

  • @roth0211 You're citing history, but making an invalid comparison. Furthermore, the SCAR has undergone more rigorous testing than most other small arms on the market, including POF. The military testing isn't going to be a guarantee of perfection, but it IS a testament to the fact the the rifle is a solid platform. Read the reports. You're asking others to do research, but I feel you should do some of your own. What incidents have you read of there being issues with polymer lower receivers?

  • @opmike343 I guess you can call me "old school" for not trusting polymer as a basis for a lower assy. Aside from that, I have read many complaints regarding the trigger mechs, stocks and stock latches. Upon further research I have also found that some operators don't care for the iron sights. Perhaps I'm just a traditionalist and prefer the M4 platform, or perhaps I need to expand my horizons and think outside the box. Or just maybe I should buy an ACR and run-and-gun it till I can find a fault.

  • I believe the rails on the sides are required to hold the outer barrel in place. But they make guards for them.

  • @Rossmancer the rails on eitether side have no function other than to be used to attach things like tac. flashlights and such other attatchments.

the rails actually go over the body, so if removed, there will be no difference made other than it being a few grams lighter

  • I dont know if its just me, but all of the new military guns look fake and cheap lol,

  • @GunWebsites from what i heard weapons with folding stocks and black coloured are remakes for special operations, could this model be called SCAR-S?

  • @avaiboot

That is far from the truth, so no

  • @avaiboot the black models were designed for the police in majority and the tan/od green ones are actually favored and designed for military cause its easier to paint a tan/OD rifle than a black one....in my opinion

  • @SwoopdySwoop I'm pretty sure "ease-of-painting" wasn't at the forefront when it came to FN's coloring decision. Where do you people come up with this stuff.

  • @opmike343 the developers at FN Herstal stated exactly what a wrote at the 2011 SHOT SHOW....watch their vids if you care

  • is there a motive fo it beein black and having a folding stock?

  • @avaiboot

    yes

  • @avaiboot black = awesome, folding stocks = easier storage/transport/etc, assuming shooter is competent, it also = shorter weapon in cqc

  • Such a bulky gun.

    Don't like it, never have.

  • It sounds like an airsoft gun.

  • What can a $2000 SCAR do, that a $1000 AR cant

  • I apologize for my hostility, trolls should be dealt with accordingly.

  • you can get a scar heavy off of gun broker but its gonna run you like 3 grand.

  • I have two questions

    1) What's the purpose of having a bulky stock like that be able to fold up? Is it just to make it more compact for transport?

    2) What does the gas control switch do?

  • @huejohnson sorry to say, but when i go to the armory i get handed a rifle that says fn on it. and for the entire military to change its service rifle is an amazingly huge task. not only do you have to buy them, you need to train us to shoot it, fix it, and many other things. yes the m16 is sensitive to dirt, but we cleaned ours every chance we got, so it wasn't a problem. plus it has been updated, we are on m16-A4 and its a great rifle.

  • @VonDuross WELL IM GLAD U CLEANED IT EVERY CHANCE U GOT. CAUSE I REMEMBER THE CHANCES IN LIVE COMBAT WERE SLIM TO NONE. IF THAT SUCKER JAMS DUE TO DIRT OR CARBON BUILD UP ITS A LIFE TAKER. THE MILITARY SHOULD EITHER GO WITH THE BARRET REC 7 IN EITHER 6.8 OR 5.56, OR THE HK 416. BOTH ARE BASED ON THE M16 PLATFORM, SO TRAINING IS NEGLEGABLE, ONLY TO TEACHIN THE TROOPS BOUT THE GAS PISTON SYSTEM. THE SCAR SHOULD STAY WHERE IT IS IN THE SPEC OPS COMMUNITY, UNLESS THE ARMY WANTS TO TRAIN EVERY1.

  • how much for that

  • What exactly is the gauge?

  • k uve held both.., for your money... BLACK OR FDE>?

  • yay, i live in b elgium ;)

  • These should be $1,500 at the most; not $2,000-2,500...

    .

That buttstock is ugly. Too bad Magpul won't make one for it...

  • is that civilian legal since its only semi auto

  • @SovietUnionRedArmy I won't argue about the -74 having better reliability. For the most part, the M4 isn't bad at all if you have good magazines and keep it wet. There lots of small things about an M4 that are clear advantages over an AK-74. Modularity, location of controls, faster reloads, ease of mounting optics, option of swapping for a different caliber upper or barrel length, and maybe slightly more accurate overall. The 74 and variants do have thier purpose and I wouldnt mind getting one.

  • THE ONE THING I JUST DONT LIKE ABOUT THE SCAR IS THE WAY THE BARREL PRUTRUDES NAKED LIKE THAT. ID PERSONALLY GO FOR A SHORTER LENGTH. IT JUST HURTS MY EYES LOOKING AT IT. AS FOR THE GUN ITSELF, NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO FIRE ONE, BUT FROM WHAT IVE HEARD AND OBVIOUSLY SEE IS THAT THIS GUN IS TOP NOTCH. THEY SHOULD CHAMBER IT FOR 6.8SPC THEN THIS GUN WOULD KICK REAL ASS. LOVE THE AMBIDEXTROUS CONTROLS AND FOLDING STOCK. ASSUALT RIFLE TO SUB GUN, 7.62 X 51 CQB, OVERKILL ANYONE.....HOOAH!!!

  • IF COLT CAME OUT WITH A GAS PISTON OPERATED M16/M4, THESE NEW GUNS WOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS. DONT KNOW WHY THEY KEEP ON PUMPING OUT MORE DI GUNS, WHEN EVERYONE COMPLAINS BOUT THE RELIABILITY OF THAT SYSTEM. ID RATHER HAVE A FEW OUNCES OF WEIGHT INCREASE FOR THE PISTON, THAN HAVE MY GUN JAM ON ME IN A FIREFIGHT. DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO ME THAT OUR GOV KNOWS BETTER BUT DOESNT CARE. MUST BE THE COST. WHATS A GAS PISTON CONVERSION KIT GO FOR. THEY TALK ABOUT ALL THE UPGRADES YET IT STILL JAMS.

  • @HUEJOHNSON Colt lost its M16 contract to FN because they were outsourcing 80% of their parts, and quality suffered. Colt will never be a first-rate company ever again. Also upgrading the issue rifle for a military like ours is a huge task, the military prefers to adopt weapons in "leaps and bounds" rather than minor updates. It doesn't matter what "some operators" said about their M16s and M4s, the vast majority of troops are using them to great effect.

  • @PaleHorseWC2 THATS AN UNFORTUNATE MENTAL STATE OF OUR MILITARY. THE IRONY OF UR COMMENT IS THAT INSTEAD OF PURCHASING RIFLES THAT ARE AN INCREASE IN RELIABLITY, THE US ARMY CONTINUES TO PURCHASE M16/M4'S BY THE THOUSANDS. WHY, CAUSE COLT STILL HAS THE CONTRACT FOR STANDARD INF WEAPONS. YA THEY LOST THE SOCOM CONTRACT CAUSE THEIR SHIT IS THAT, SHIT, COMPARED TO THE HK416, X-M8 AND OTHER WEAP SYSTEMS IN THE COMPITION. THE M16/M4 IS AN OUTSTANDING RIFLE, THE GAS SYSTEM IS THE ACHILLIES HEAL.

  • @PaleHorseWC2 WEAPONS TODAY ARE THE PINNICALE OF PRJECTILE TECHNOLOGY. WHATS THE US MILITARY GONNA DO WAIT TILL WE HAVE LASER OR RAILGUNS. THE PLATFORMS WE HAVE AVAILABLE NOW ARE FIXING THE DEFICIENCIES OF PAST SYSTEMS. REALIABILITY, EROGONOMICS AND FUNCTIONALITY ARE THE KEY, AS WELL AS AMMO TECH. IF COLT WANTED TO CORRECT THIS, CHANGE THE GAS SYSTEM. UNTIL THEN THE M16/M4 WILL CONTINUE TO BE A DETRIMENT TO OUR TROOPS. ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE NOT CAREFULLY CARED FOR.

  • @HUEJOHNSON LOOK AT ME I CAN USE CAPS LOCK TOO HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @bonkersbananas2010 ISNT AN AWSOME FEATURE. USE THE POWER OF THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON, IT MAKES UR POST STAND OUT MORE THEN EVERYONE ELSES......BAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!!!!!

  • I like both the Scar 16 and 17 after having spent 6 months with each overseas, didn't have any issues with either one and no major issues from any guys I work with who carried them. SOCOM is stopping the 16 mainly because of the price, and it is better than the M4, IMO but not THAT much better. I still love it. It's hard to get much better than the M4 without going to a different caliber.

  • i like it in black more then in yellow, and it would be cool to have the heavy version, definitely the scar over an ar 15

  • No joke but my favourite assault rifle is the PSD From LWRC lol. Ultra reliable, shorter than the M4 and shoots 300 metres with 6.8SPC :D

  • its the civilian model right?

  • To the guy below me the scar and the m4 went through a 60,000 round torture test and the results were the scar jammed 224 times and the m4 jammed 868 times.

  • is there a civivilian legal version?

  • @gunnut3345

In the video it's showing him with the rifle, and you're asking if it's civilian legal?

That's like going into a music video with the title clearly on top, and asking what song it is.

  • I have fired one at a police academy. Great firearm, completely adjustable to the shooter. I didn't do any skilled type of shooting though, just ran a couple of magazines through it. The price is the only reason I haven't bought my own yet.

  • do you have a scare havey by chance i just want to know

  • @rotab1129

not yet... we'll post a review as soon as we get our hands on one

  • @GunWebsites well ive used one if you like the light youl love the heavy pluse no one on you tube even has a real veriosn of it its got a power full kick but youl get used to it

  • @GunWebsites I saw your ACR vs SCAR vids but whats the verdict? ACR or SCAR?

  • It looks difficult to aim quickly. M16A4 looks extremely easier with larger sights. If only they had Gas Pistons

  • @Flaggedagain Both use peep sights that are essentially the same.

The one's on the SCAR are intended to be back up for an optic (whether it be a 1X or something with magnification) as they fold.

  • Great review!

IMHO though, the SCAR doesn't do anything for me.

  • Comment removed

  • @rc8rsracer

either an AK47 or a P90..can't think of any else

  • @rc8rsracer AK-47
