I love persian Ney, But it´s very hard to play not like Arabic/Kurdish/Turkish Ney! This one is Different,The air goes between the teath not like others with lips! It´s Gudley heaven sound! Love it!

I write, play guitar and sing and one of the most vivid memories I have of anything pertaining to the Middle East was of a group of Palestinian musicians who came to a college to perform. Their reason: they wanted to curb the violence. The music was beautiful. I can't remember their name but I remember they gave me one of their CDs.

It is held horizontally and played with both hands. The elaborated finger technique consists of various rolling and snapping styles, which allow for great variety of sounds.
The PERSIAN ney is ONLY persian. of course Africans, chines, egyptians etc have it too...but that is because of the GREAT PERSIAN EMPIRE..lot of ignorant people also say MOWLANA (NOT RUMI) IS FROM TURKEY.. oh please!!!!!!1 the piano was made from Persian santur, guitar from setar, etc.....THE PERSIAN POWER..u cant deny it baby..
Its very satisfying to hear the ney expressed in this way, pushed at times beyond the borders of Persian convention into the unknown freedom universal to all cultures.
