Would you sing a song I've written titled "Life Goes On"? I'll give you the song, should you accept. A gift from me to you. It's not about money! I would just love for you to sing it. You are the greatest!
Good God, I miss Country Music. Even after they were divorced, they were still able to pull it off well enough to bring tears to your eyes. I miss this so much.
@charliebradley1979 That's how I understood it too, after reading Tammy's autobiography. So this performance is after they've split -- but when, I wonder?
They sure are having a good time in this performance -- so great to see. Jones has always said he loved performing with Tammy. He seems totally sober -- probably contributes to Tammy's happiness while performing this too. I wonder if there's anymore to this concert? If so, what a gem it must be!
This was in the later part of 1977 near the end of the year I think as this was from a show highlighting the best hits of the year, and Near You was #1 in early 1977
I'd love to know when it was too -- this song came out not long after they split up, so it's kind of confusing. They really look like they're into it, but if it's a live performance, wouldn't that have to be after they recorded the song, after it became a hit? Anyone have info on this performance? They both sure look great!
@94ballou Near You was the last song they recorded together before they split as a couple. Literally the next morning after the recording session the night before. The story I've heard is that Tammy and one of her daughters had a dentist appointment and George was kinda lazing around the house and depressed that Tammy had been in a down mood the night before. He told Tammy's mother "It will never work" and then went and packed his bags and was gone
@charliebradley1979 only to call Tammy and want to come back home a few days later after going off and getting drunk. Tammy told him in a few words that he would never set foot in their house again and he didn't--at least not as Tammy's husband
Thank you so much for posting this! This is the best video I've ever seen of Tammy and George -- I've watched everything of Tammy and George on YouTube for the past year, and Wow -- this is fantastic! Do you have any idea what concert this is from? Do you have any other videos of them, especially from this concert? Again, thank you, thank you! How sweet is it the way they look at eachother? Just precious.

He flinched when she sang loud there at the end. Maybe it reminded him of all the fights they had. Sad couple in the end I guess. But great music.
