I love the intimacy of this rink. They should go back to having events in these little rinks as opposed to the big arenas, which they can't even fill anymore.
You could watch John Curry skate frame by frame and see that every position is as stretched and fully extended as it gets...his breathtaking line is absolutely matchless...and in the end actually "figure" skates...what a beautiful gift, for the eyes and the soul...John Curry...the sublime finest
Another marvellous example of John's grace and artistry. Thank you so much for uploading this. What a tragic loss John's death was to the skating world.
I have on a number of occasions watched him skate and cried tears both of joy and of sadness. Words can do no justice to this man, his art, his courageous spirit and the tragedy of his life at a time when not so very long ago homosexuality carried such a stigma. Those of us with eyes to see are truly blessed to be able to witness such sublime beauty. I only hope that wherever you are now you are happy and totally fulfilled. God bless you John Curry. Unsurpassed.
I miss the Richmond rink too. Yes it's gone now sadly. It was the scene of many triumphs for John as the National Championships back then were nearly always held there. It's wonderful to see this quillerpen. I have some footage of 1981 St Ivels but not this.
John Curry the ULTIMATE skater, a true artist. We miss him so much. Thank you for this magic video.

John's skating is so sublime that it's difficult to find words that do it justice!
