Before said fanfic, during my second college year, I took a journalism class and read in the required textbook about a debate titled "Is Body Image In The Media Harmful To Females Only?". On the "no" side, we had an article written by a WOMAN, no less, named Michelle Cottle: "...Men's Health is peddling a standard of male beauty as unforgiving and unrealistic as the female version sold by those dewy-eyed pre-teen waifs..."

Oh, 1969? Wow. I also learned that people sure had some dumb ideas as to how boys and girls are supposed to tick. It figures the boys gotta depend on Snoopy to solve their girl problems, and even then, they don't really win the arm-wrestling bit. That's right, I said they DIDN'T win; deal with it.

I don't mind teaching that boys and girls can do things equally well. Honestly, I don't. However, I now understand that that lesson doesn't work unless BOTH sides are depicted as having the capacity to slip up. Boy or girl, life's imperfection applies to all no matter what, and this special failed spectacularly. Because whereas the boys are shown to be fallible in every way, the girls are total, inhuman Mary Sues.

I once read a Sonic The Hedgehog fanfic that depicted Sonic and Tails as outcasts growing up in a town the size of either Colville or Chewelah, both in Washington. Or maybe Cheney. Anyhoo, Sonic said he hated the news because it always seemed to talk about what was wrong in the world. I too have usually felt the same way but never realized it until I read that fic. I guess that's just one of the "perks" of a newspaper comic; too bad Peanuts does its job TOO well.

This whole special always felt the most animated out of all the Peanuts specials. Tons of facial expressions, and a lot more of an energetic feel in the animation. That's not a knock on any other, but it just has such a different feel from most of the others.

Yes they did since it appears to now air on Boomerang.

The theatrical films however I believe still belong to Paramount since Warner only bought the rights to the specials.
