Dear Herbert Midgley: Mr. Chopin meant for the Waltz (valse) in A minor to be sad and melancholy. And a moody piece of music shouldn't be rushed nor played too precisely. In that way, it keeps its intended moodiness. Bravo! You got it exactly right. Stick with it Mr. Midgley.

i personally love this song played at a very slow, thoughtful tempo, especially at the beginning. also, it's chopin, throw in some rubato! but better than I could play it, it's a wonderful piece.

Even time-structure is in some parts very solid.

I don't know why everyone is hating on this kid! You know he may not be the greatest piano player in the world. I agree. But at the same time, where is your video of you playing chopin waltz in a minor, on youtube? I have to give it to him though, he is out there trying to make something of himself. Some of the comments were excessive, but the tempo does need to increase a little. However, tempo will come with practice - playing the notes and playing them evenly is more important.

And the penultimate portion of the piece (start 5:48) was very well-done, the section I struggle with. Your best section is my worst - ha! This is a great piece, don't stop playing it!

It's not bad, but the recording is horrible, I really think it takes away from the performance.

P.S. Pretty much everyone here that is criticizing this unfairly probably can't even play this piece... to those I'm speaking of: suck it or grow up. :)

I'm a terrible fan of Chopin, and it's brutalizing to see his piece ripped apart in this way. PLEASE! A bit faster! More feeling! More songlike!

P.S.: I have the urtext edition, and it is the Grande Valse brilliante in A minor.
