Statistics: John McCain has sponsored 473 bills since Jan 21, 1993, of which 306 haven't made it out of committee and 30 were successfully enacted. McCain has co-sponsored 812 bills during the same time period.
(Starting Sept 17, 2008, these numbers do not include resolutions. In addition, the count of enacted bills considers only bills actually sponsored by McCain and companion bills identified by CRS that were themselves enacted, but not if they were incorporated into other bills, as that information is not readily available.)
WoW! listen to the question... Energy Accomplishment?? they didn't ask what is his accomplishments?? they could name ALOT but ask what is Barack Obama's accomplishments? answer NONE! ask every sen. and they can't name ONE... He is a muslim, anti-christian, and already said by his camp that he will lower taxes for small business which that tax he said, which isn't for small business its for BIG Corps. Small business pay INCOME TAX thats it! But looking back...
During the demc. debate, Obama LYIED to the people about NAFTA, he called President of Canada and told him "Don't worry, it's just campaign rhetoric..." "Don't take it seriously..." He's not for the people, he's ACTING like it!
GREAT JOB, WOW THEY SAY ARE ONLY A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER. MMMMMMMMM
I am republican and I am voting for Obama 2008 because my own party let me down for 8 years and I say 8 is enough period. I lost my home, business, my husband lost his job and all I can hear is 4 more years from republicans as if I am stupid. Mmmmmmmmm
What planet are we really on?
WHAT IS THE POINT OF GOING TO SCHOOL IF
PEOPLE LIKE PALIN/MCCAIN CAN BECOME PRESIDENT SUCH POWER NATION.
Still remembering the gas lines of the 70's, neither party did anything for more than 30 years.
Drill, drill, drill isn't a short term solution. The pay-off to this is years away as are the vast majority of other solutions. Remember the shorelines of California and Florida are their bread and butter. Screw them up and they are done. Oil companies drill the leased sites you already have.
There should be an initiative equal to going to the moon projects of the '60s and getter done.
26 yrs in Washington.Done nothing but vote no against all energy bills. Latlly hasn't showed up to vote at all. 26 years in washington has an ad out telling us Washington is broken. "DAH" He's been part of it for 26 yrs. 26 Yrs in Washington & He considers himself the underdog against a 2 Yr SENATOR...
The question is odd? McCain touts his record over and over. Maybe Romney needed somebody to whisper the answer to him like they did in the debates. "raise taxes'
Mccain should be president. He earns it alot more than a muslim who doesnt belong here. He is a decorated war veteran. If he doesnt deserve it who does.
Obama is a Christian, who was born in the USA, and is a US citizen. But you already knew that didn't you? McCain was technically not born in the USA, he was born in the Panama Canal - and technically to be President you have to be a "natural born citizen." Of course Congress passed a law JUST for McCain so he would be qualified to run...
Nobody "deserves" to be president. They have to convince the American people they are the best person for the job. McCain has done nothing to convince me he would be better or even good.
And "muslim who doesn't belong here" tells any good person what kind of guy you are.
Hey you need to get off the farm for a while and get your facts straight! Obama never has been and never will be a Muslim! I am not going to worry about you anyways, because come November your tractor isn't going to start!
LOL Nice way to comeback i have nothing against Obama personally but i think there should be some qualifications to be a president such as all your family should have to be from America.
Too bad Mitchell didn't flat-out ask Carly "I nearly destroyed Hewlett Packard" Fiorina if she could name one of McCain's "accomplishments".
Maybe Carly could have talked about how much women want their health insurance to cover birth control.. except John McCain voted AGAINST requiring insurance companies to cover prescription birth control.
Bush/McCain controlled Congress and the White House for six years yet didn't do a damn thing about energy, apart from allowing oil futures trading to be unregulated--creating the "Enron loophole" and causing rampant specualtion. Oil analysts say it should only be about $90 per barrel and the rest is from runaway speculation. Thanks Bush/McCain!
Of course he doesn't..and his only Senate accomplishments at all that he has, he is now against all of those in an effort to appease the neo-conservative far right wing of the Republican Party.
"Keating Five" McCain has got nuthin'. Well, except for cynicism, arrogance and a healthy disrespect for the intelligence of Americans. Oh! and war... lots of war.
If I was a betting person, I'd put money on there being more wars - even if there was no United States of America anymore. Do you really think there will be no more wars if the US doesn't start any?
There have always been wars. There will be more, but while we are still dealing with the disaster the Iraq occupation has been I'd be more comfortable voting for someone who is more interested in diplomacy with other nations and focusing on dealing with terrorism. Terrorism is not a "war" - it is criminality on a major scale. McCain would be very happy to have the opprotunity to be a "war president".
Diplomacy is infinitely preferable to war. But the disaster of the Iraq occupation would not change the likelihood of diplomacy succeeding.
Certain countries not only allow terrorist groups to operate but manage to quietly get funding and equipment to them. Neither the NYPD nor the FBI can do much about a state-sponsor of terrorism.
Unless you want to forever be reacting AFTER terrorist attacks, with police investigations, perhaps war may play a part in the struggle against IslamIST terrorism?
Rand Corporation study: analyzing terrorist groups that existed worldwide between 1968 and 2006, the authors found that 268 terrorist groups ended during that period. 40% ended because of operations carried out by local police or intelligence agencies. Meanwhile, 43% reached a peaceful political accommodation with their government. In 10% of cases, terrorist groups ended because they achieved victory, while the application of military force led to the end of terrorist groups in only 7% of cases.
bgbreakdown, I didn't say that war with a country can 'end' a terrorist group. I was saying I think wars with states - only when diplomacy will not succeed - can eliminate state-sponsors and state-weapons-suppliers for terrorist groups.
I don't know if you support Barack Obama or not but I think it's relevant for everyone to note that he calls himself a "hawk" when it comes to defeating terrorism.
I wonder if anyone remembers what the phrase "Keating Five" refers to? I do, but does anyone else? Now, lets sing a song in praise of Mr S&L, maybe 'bomb bomb bomb..bomb bomb iran.........

The POLLS are full of crap.
Folks are falling off the
McSCUM bandwagon every single day.
He is senile, cranky, dishonest and ignorant.
Only the willfully blind & deaf cannot see it.
The LYING MEDIA keeps telling The Public they are not really seeing what they are seeing.
McSCUM could eat stinking dog poop on live TV, and the LYING MEDIA would tell
the viewing audience
it was Chocolate Mousse from a fancy restaurant, just to keep their McSCUM BBQ priveleges.
