as much as i would love to see a movie of this (there already is a stage adaptation!) i think the ending would be challenging. I know a lot of people didn't like the ending but I thought it was good although i've read that Zusak has said that he wished he could've forshadowed it a bit more so people weren't so confused by it.

I Am The Messenger was amazing, but I didn't understand the ending... I think that Markus Zusak kinda rushed the ending...

The Book Thief was a whole lot better... I honestly don't know where I would be right now if I hadn't read it.

The Book Thief is one of the best books I've ever read, and I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't had a chance to read it yet.

@MileygirlJ12 i thought at first the ending was rushed too but when i thought about it. this was the most fitting ending. the only others would be too revealing and would falter the books edge and meaning or would totally ruin the book in an entirety. the style of metamedia Zusak used in the end was very intense which is why i think he failed. he put too much effort in making it sound like it was all just a book (sorta) that he lost the books mystery. he could've eluded to it more discretely but

I read this book this year and i'm in 8th grade, this is one of the greatest books ever by one of the greatest authors ever, I Am The Messenger and The Book Thief made me fall in love with reading

@ distortedtrees: i agree; great trailer. (i got similar pictures in my mind while i was reading the book.´) i don't want a film, too. it's hard to describe (especially in english, 'cause I'm german). but that book is no book which should be a movie.

That was awesome. I really wish they would make it a movie. I know that Zusack's style wouldn't be captured on film, something I love something about his writing, but the story is just great and I think it would adapt to screen well. I can only hope lol.
