  • Wonderful memories - they all looked so handsome in those suits. We'll miss you, Davy.

  • They were all so handsome. I remember watching this and thinking shes so lucky to be dancing with all of them. I miss those days of my youth. RIP Davy and God Bless Mcky Peter and Mike

  • This video is precious.

  • In almost every video i've seen, Davy is playing a Tamborine......Love you, Davy :) We miss you so SO much </3

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • God I am SO jealous of the girl who gets to spin around with all of them! >_<

  • Mike could play guitar but I just can't for the life of me figure out why the others never learned how to play. Anyone can easily see that nobody else can play an instrument.

  • @gassy4sure Pete and Mike were both accomplished, self-supporting musicians before being hired for the show. Pete actually plays 12 instruments, including keyboards, guitar, bass, French horn, and the harp. I've seen him in concert, and he blew us away. See the Monkees video "Then and Now".

  • @stratocastergirl I agree, In fact Mike has often said Pete was better on guitar than he was...also Davy was a competent drummer but the shows producers wanted him to be front man early on and they thought he couldnt be seen behind the drum kit. Mickey was actually the least musical of the 4 but he did have "the signature voice" of the Monkees that's why Mike and Pete had him sing a lot of their compositions....

  • @decemberschild1217 Yes, he has one of the best, all-around pop and rock voices in the business. I liked his voice better than Davy's, but both of them were excellent. I've seen Micky play acoustic guitar and percussion instruments in concert, and he's very good in that genre.

  • @gassy4sure Not so. Peter Tork was a fine musician long before the Monkees, on many instruments, and played with Crosby, Stills and others before the show. Micky learned to play a decent drums by this time. Davy was a vocalist with an album released before the Monkees arrived.

  • The best? "Sometime in the Morning" is the BEST of ALL of their songs. "For Pete's Sake" is really good.... "Shades of Gray".... the more popular ones were ok..."I'm a Believer", etc...You should all listen to Sometime In the Morning... others..top of my head... SHE... Mary Mary.... Little Bit of Me, Little Bit of You... (that's a Davy song, actually)... "Daydream Believer" is awesome, but I believe someone else did it first...can't remembe whom...

  • Mke kind of messed things up...seemed to have this need to tell everybody that they were not doing their own instruments.... as time passed, they did learn. should have left a good thing alone. I was only 9, but I tell you...I was into the MUSIC....the show was ok, but I thought it was silly back then even. The music was outstanding.....they should put it all back in print and re-sell it. My old Monkees albums have disappeared, I'm sure, but I still remember these tunes.

  • Mickey was the best..hands down...most talented.....better voice than any rock star of the time and I am a HUGE Beatles, Zep, Doors, Who fan....

  • @drewthemortgageman - I agree, Micky was very underrated as a vocalist. His voice was fantastic - pure tone and very emotive.

  • From the Monks second album 'More of the Monkees'. Though I think it aired on the 1st season.

  • Rose Marie said it best in this video.."thank you, boys"

  • I used to close my eyes when I was young and pretend Davy was dancing with ME... Rest in peace Davy, such a lovely English gentleman who will be deeply missed.

  • the Beatles had tanks (on my channel), the Monkees also needed protection. they were used as "idols" (an old commercial religious tactic), and as "teen bait" for sick people. so if like George Bush has a poster in his closet of Michael Jackson walking backwards, or of Arnold Schwarzenegger all lubricated in his shorts, we should not play at Georgie's white house any more: we should but indict him for promotion of an infectuous sex act ("same sex marriage"). - james mcashan for the US Senate

  • Like this version better than the "circus" one. Mike is very pensive at 1:52. I'd love to know who the "young" Rosemary was, very pretty.

  • We were kids then .Loving the Monkees but being too young. now we have morphed into Anne Marie 0__0

  • Nothin' like the 60s....great memories.

  • One of my favorites, and this scene is so poignant. I'm sure that the nine-year-old 'me' that saw this episode didn't appreciate it like I do now. Thanks for posting.

  • @elinorvonzahm I was thinking along similar lines when watching this...

  • Wow, does time just race by or what?! I can remember this like it was yesterday and I think I was only 9, or 10.

So hard to believe Davey is gone. RIP dude, you (and years of his performances beyond this of course) and the boys put allot of smiles on allot of faces!

  • Now we're all like her - older and fantasizing about these young guys. LOL

  • That's right...the woman is Rose Marie from The Dick Van Dyke show, she also did the Brawny paper towel commercials.

  • Oh ... this fricking clip with this song is just tooo cute. It put me in tears. I'm that women today, listening to that song. She's from the Brawny quicker picker upper commercial. Last thing at 1:46, I always hear that line to be "and you'll need no underwear".

  • Thank you sassycat38 :)

  • I personally thought this was major highlight in this comedy series. This segment of the film stepped away the zaniness, wild comical humor of the show and stepped into a serious feel for a moment of a woman fantasizing of here younger days dancing with them to the song. I was highly impressed with it. It was nice to know that even though rare, they stepped away for a moment to make this lady happy with a nice song.

  • @hubbaman9885 I agree, it was always nice to get the odd reminder that they were more then just jokers.

  • Does anyone know who the young woman is? My guess: Nurit Wilde, the mother of Jason Nesmith. She's a photographer – and was a part-time actress in the '60s and '70s who met the Monkees while on assignment.

  • great vocal

  • This is my favorite Monkees song and it is so sad to know Davy Jones is no longer with us.

  • @TonyHickschick - Hello. Yes, Davy is missed already. However, I'm so grateful that we have these films to remind us of how much JOY he & the other 3 brought us, such as this very "dreamy" tune. Even though Davy isn't on lead vocals here - it counts. PS - I'm glad Tony is still here & still making music. Best Wishes to You. PEACE, ALL.

  • I wa a migrant workers child, and the one freedom I was allowed was being able to walk from the fields every saturday morning to watch the Monkees on t.v,I had to stay in the fields an extra half hour to make up for my lost time, but it was SOOOOOOO worth it to me,am SOOO saddened to hear of the loss of Davy Jones,he was such an important part of my life,I lost MY Elvis.

  • @pittypat98223 Thank you for sharing. I appreciated hearing how much they meant to you ...I never quite "grew out" of the Monkees.

  • @pittypat98223 I can really hear how much Davy Jones and The Monkees meant to you at that time. Thanks for telling us x

  • @pittypat98223 I can't even say how much your words meant to me when you said you "lost MY Elvis". It just seemed to put everything into perspective. i guess I lost MY Elvis, too. Rest in peace, Mr. Jones

  • Saturday mornings with the Monkees. Sweet times gone by. Kids today can never experience what we were so fortunate to have back then. They were so funny and so clean, unlike the horrific lyrics of today.

  • My chilhood was so beautiful, and part of that were The Monkees, so great memories when the world was so innocent, thank you Micky, Mike, Peter and Davy for all those wonderful songs and great times of pure fun,you make me a believers since I was 8 years old..

Davy RIP God bless your soul forever, you will stay in our hearts forever!

  • We're losing all our heros. Somebody already said it, I feel as though a piece of me died today as well...

  • @TampaBayster I'm beginning to feel terribly old.

  • @auntbecky - Hello. Yes, after first hearing the news of Davy's departure, I was too. However, listening to these lovely songs & watching the fun on the TV shows reminds me that, as Bob Dylan said, as long as we keep our minds active, we can all stay FOREVER YOUNG! Best Wishes and PEACE TO YOU!

  • @TampaBayster thanks for saying that...exactly how I feel, even over a week later...

  • ...Q.E.P.D. David!!!...

  • They are awesome all of them.. What a shame..Love you...Davy..

  • I can't believe he's gone. I met him at the state fair years ago. He was such a nice guy. He will be missed a lot.

  • Beautiful song

  • Awesome!! What a classic! Thank you for posting this

  • R.I.P. Davy. You will be missed by true Monkees fans like me. I have the entire catalog on CD now and love listening to it almost daily. Cheer up sleepy Jean.......

  • great childhood memories !!! rest in peace Davy !!!

  • thank u boys... for a four on 1? wow, the 60s WERE liberal!

  • DAVY is not dead, he lives FOREVERMORE in our hearts, our minds, our souls, our memories, in syndication, his voice rings in my head forevermore......

THE MONKEES affected US ALL for life.... and then some. GOD BLESS the monkees!

  • @tadsharpe Beautiful. although it was not my fave group or show, i did enjoy watching, they were funny. I think that same sentiment can be felt for Mr. Rogers, MJ, and Whitney. Boy am I going to cry when the adult cast members of Sesame Street die. I think Dick Clark's death will be hard too.

  • i loved this one oh man can't believe he is gone r.i.p Davey u will be missed

  • It somehow made me so sad to learn that Davie passed, it's like a part of my youth just died.

    RIP MR JONES

  • One year my older brother and his family were visiting his oldest daughter then 16 now in her thirties just discovered the Monkees. We drove her father crazy playing their music over and over. Although she was totally amazed that they were old enough to be around when her ancient aunt was a young girl. :) Thanks guys for helping to bridge the generations. RIP Davy the heavenly choir just got a little sweeter.

  • The Monkees were like the Beatles for all the tv watching kids back then. I loved their world, playing music in their house. Rest in peave Davey Jonesxx

  • Thank you, boys...

  • wow ...memories from my youth...rest in peace Davey...gave me lots of joy as a kid:))

  • I woke t this sad comment, Davy Jones is dead...I shall always remember him as my first crush, sitting by the record player. No we didn't know their actual skills, or the skills of the writers...in this case this song was written by Carole King.

  • OMG NO!!!! RIP, Davy Jones - my very first crush!!!

  • *sob* *sob*

  • RIP DAVY JONES...I was first introduced to the Monkees in the late 80s when I was only 10 or so..my baby sitter would record the monkees episodes that they would regurlary play in the 80s and I used to love when the band would start playing...Monkees and Davy Jones will always be part of my life....Thnks for the music Davy,

  • :( Rip Davy.

  • Really cool. A woman looking back at her younger days.

  • I remember watching this tv episode - thank you for bringing great memories back. They definitely were under estimated but good music never dies.

  • Such an innocent time.

  • Sweet song.

  • What does the video have to do w/ he Monkees, Dummy???

  • THAT IS ROSE MARIE

  • This is my all time favorite song and the way they created the scene... priceless.. especially the look on Mike's face... he's just seems so sad. Makes ya wanna hug the stuffin' out of him

  • underrated band what a range micky has rock and roll hall of fame instead of this cr@p they're putting in there thanks for the memories

  • *Sigh*

  • this song made me realise that love should be easy, if its hard it ain't real love.

  • @briney1973 - That's so true...well-said :)

  • Comment removed

  • I remember this episode also has "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow"), my 2 favorite Monkees songs in one episode!

  • This song is significant because it was the first song that was completely theirs. I love it!

  • I that Betty White?

  • @speicher0900 it's Rose Marie from "The Dick Van Dyke Show"

  • @speicher0900 No..... That is actress Rose Marie. She is also as talented as Betty White

  • I wonder why Mike doesn't really dance. Anyone know?

  • My favorite song that Micky sings entirely

  • poor mike, i've watched so many monkees videos, mike is really playing chords ... in this and other videos, bottom line, don't they sound great?

  • poor mike, i've watched so many monkees videos, mike is really playing chords ...

  • This was so good. A song was featured in every episode. Now wonder I bought every one of their albums.

  • Peter looks so adorable in this video.

  • episode Monkees Mother

  • so true. life and love is simple if we just care and have compassion . times are so different now.

  • I remember groing up with this song. one of my all time favorite Mickey Dolenz vocals. Like butter it's so smooth. Only now do we realize the talent of both The Monkees and the writers they had with them. They truly don't make quality songs like this any more. So innocent and with meaning. Thanks for posting this classic!

  • @musichead1956 Mickey is one of my favorite singers - ever!

  • i remember this!
