When you've seen the episode 'the inner light' you know that the song represents an entire parallel life that he lived and loved, where he had a wife and children and grandchildren. The fluit and that song is all he got left from that time. Just the realisation that he's sharing that with someone, who has the sensitivity to feel the emotion behind it.. It sends shivers down my spine.
The song that Picard plays here is amazing...If anyone remembers the episode "The Inner Light", that's where this tune originates. It's beautiful....I just finished watching that episode, and had to watch this.....
To date, i don't believe a song has ever reached out and actually made me cry before. Its such a simple melody, but at the same time, its so deep, it has so much feeling into it, its such a pure tone. Everything about it makes the song so very beatuiful.
I believe the other one was Sadness and Sorrow, which was amazing as well, Doccjazz4 does it on his Ocarina, which is a beautiful instrument as well.
personally, I hate piano keys that don't give me a physical responses of actually being pressed down. It just...doesn't feel right. doesn't register for me to know that I actually pressed it. It guess it just takes getting used to. (iPad piano just doesn't work so well with me...nor does the keyboard...)

If ever I meet a woman like Wendy Hughes and it were possible, I would marry and have children with her.

Picard was like a big kid during the duet in his quarters.

The song they play at 7:42 is an old Scottish folk song called by the "Over the Sea to Skye".

@Atoszprime No it's not. The beginnings sound alike, but it's not the same songs.
