    *smacks chair down*

    - Now stop this nonsense.

    XD I love Jerry!

  • HE ADLIBBED!!!!!!!

  • @iamherearenti what did he say when he adlibbed

  • 1:25 when Jerry comes around the set - he says .."I Came Through The Wick"..

refering to old theater lighting along the downstage front edge of the stage "FOOTLIGHTS" - the row of candles- or wicks.... these were later replaced by

Lime lights - arc lights -.

  • @rentatrip1 I think he might have said the he "came through the brick" since he came through the invisible set brick jail wall. But hey it was a brick that was light by the wick so I guess were all right!

  • ...hay you ...YOU ever Packed a "G" on your hip when you copped a hiest ?

translation - have you ever carried a Gun in your pocket while you commited a robbery? ....did you ever take it on the lamb with a "shaumis" who had a croak beside a crease TRANSLATION - did you ever run from the "law" (fugitive) with a undercover cop (shamus) who died Croaked on the side of the road - (the curb) the CREASE ....

  • No no these guys are so funny wow! hahahahahahah I just love it man! great shows, real comedians and that goes to show some real dummies how to make people laugh without bad words and sex crap.

  • Jerry reminds me of Jimmy Carey in this clip.

  • @Kyoshruko Jim Carey got a lot of his inspiration from Jerry Lewis :) funny you should say that hahaha

  • HAHA

    'Im going to miss you!"

    "Raaaar..now stop this nonsense!"

    "I'll go in this waaay!"

"I was lonesome!" man i love Jerry!

I love when they laugh by accident!

  • Jerry: Rawr!! RAWR RAWR RAW!!! now stop this nonsence...

    heheh

  • I'll just go in this way............Dean:What are ya doing down there? Jerry: I was lonesome. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

  • Jim Curry must have been inspired by Jerry Lewis

  • wat does dean say at 2:13?? i can't tell

  • @hazzamanvid12 I asked the same question and someone said he says: Did ya ever take it on the lam (make a clean getaway) with the shamus (private detective in this case a police accomplice) who had the talk (make a deal) with the side (working for) of the Gs (government men- feds, FBI). LOL Hillarious :D

  • so cute <3

  • This is brilliant. Thanks for posting.

I hadn't realised there was so much Martin and Lewis stuff on Youtube. I can see that I'm going to be having problems accomplishing anything useful for the next few days. ;)

  • "He ad-libbed now i dont know where i am." lmao! luv deans crazy eyes look at 3:04 hilarious cip thanks :D

  • Dont know why I have some much with posting a comment.lol. Great vid- luv Jerry and Dean always so funny. Dean had the perfect accent for this skit. I think what Dean said to Jerry (and it actually makes sense) was something like this: Did ya ever take it on the lam (make a clean getaway) with the shamus (private detective in this case a police accomplice) who had the talk (make a deal) with the side (working for) of the Gs (government men- feds, FBI).

  • Lol I can't stop watching this, Jerry is soo funny!

  • "RAWR RAWR! Now stop this nonsense." lol!

  • "I was looonesome."

Hahaha, best comedy combo ever xD

  • At 2:05 what'd this guy say to Jerry? And later this stupido-funny conversation, what is it all about, coz I cannot understand their English.

  • @bierdon Jerry is from near where I am from I recognized his english right off! Where are you from? The other guy sais "Hey U -U ever packed a G(gun) on your hip when u copped a heist?

  • I wish there were people this funny nowadays.

  • yeah so do i'

  • Comment removed

  • I love the constant facial expressions. Like when he's imitating Dean or trying to do an accent. It's just too funny. I always crack up.

  • as much as i love these 2, this was scripted aswell, in the middle of it dean says something and jerry says 'he add libbed, i dont know where i am now??' but i agree with he rest of your statement

  • @dimmu71542 yea but nowadays they suck to bad to ad lib and its how these 2 presented it plus jerry wrote some of their stuff

  • nobody really comes up with anything new on there own. Its all scripted these days which sucks & kind of proves the real true talents are all gone

  • This is true comedy. They don't do it like this anymore

  • thats cus this was all new, no one used this stuff before, now every one over uses cheap comedy

  • This is so funny!

  • Watch when that other guy Smacks Jerry at 40 seonds...it looks like jerry Kisses Dean!!

  • best ever i love dean martin am jerry, i rember watching them when i was growing up

  • i love dean and jerry :D i just wish more ppl as young as i am knew about them :/ i got no one to watch them with besides my dad and grandpa :P they rock!!

  • That 3rd guy is Danny Arnold, a sidekick of Jerry's in the early Hollywood days. I remember how he had quite a few bit roles in M & L movies.

  • Love jerry lewis, thanks for posting

  • I own all of these...this one is my favorite!

  • I love it when Jerry breaks the 4th Wall <3 He had such a skill for it. Thanks for posting this vid; it brought me some much-needed laughter!

  • Excellent!

They certainly don't write 'em like this anymore :)))

  • Yeah I'd also like to know exactly what the other fella and Dean said that made them all laugh.

It makes me laugh too, I can't even make out everything Dean said but I still find it hilarious. I imagine it has something to do with them being absolute comic geniuses.

  • although this clip is missing about 6 minutes its still hilarious

  • Dean Martin is hott!!

  • What was the ad lib that Dean Martin said to Jerry in this scene that made them all laugh? It didn't come out too clear. Thanks.

  • "I may be skinny, but I'm anemic."

  • @AABonine9200 He's overacting this feller...

  • HILLARIOUS

  • if ne one gets a chance read Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis: A Love Story. omG it is the most amazing book. funny as hell!! it was written by jerry lewis nd its the best biography iv ever read

  • ah...Dean Martin is (was) so handsome . I like his voice .

  • is he dead??jerry lewis

  • nope

Dean's dead, but Jerry is alive and doin' fine I guess

  • hes a strong fella this fella!

  • Dean was a genius and so was Jerry they were great together. Jerry said they did ad-lib a lot. Jerry also said Dean knew how to get him back to where he was suppose to be. It is a shame we don't have comics that can do this stuff as easily as these 2 guys did it. Miss them from the scene.

  • Jerry Lewis is the best!

  • 2:18 - OMG!!! They were even laughing :D

  • LMAO!!! That's all I've done from start to finish.

  • its funny when they corpes in the middle!

  • Oh my god it's so funny ! Jerry Lewis is so talented..."i'll go this way" ...

  • Dean-"what are you doing down there?" Jerry-"i was lonesome."HAHAHA

  • Argh, ARRARGh, Now stop this nonsense.

  • hilariuos!

  • "I'll go in THIS way."

  • " He's over acting this fella isn't he." I love when Jerry looses it! Love my Jerry.

  • The best line: "I'm gonna to miss you". And I like the way when he says it.

  • My favorite line is the last one

    "I was lonesome"

I almost died when he said it, and how he said it was the most hilarious part.

  • Funniest stuff I've seen all day.

  • nice

  • Hahah " now stop this nonsense " He is hilarious! He was so cute.

  • "now stop this nonsense" haha

  • "I was lonesome". Toooo friggin funny.

  • I love this skit because it shows Dean's comedic genius that he wasn't given much credit for in those days. He adlibbed, and jerry went off in a tangent, and he knew exactly how to get him back on track. genius.

  • I know! He was a friggin' GENIUS!

  • hhhhhhhhhaaaaa he only cry when Dean slap jajajajajaj

    The Power Of Love!!!!

  • pmsl " i may be skinny .. but im aneamic lol

  • Avtually, if it were a director who was on top of his game, and he'd have to be to work for NBC, he'd be able to work with the ad-libbing by watching his monitors, when Jerry was speaking on preview, they'd just bump him over to program and voila, you see him on your screen. Directors just gotta bring their A-game...it's a very hectic field...that's probably why most of them chain smoke...

  • jerry is a classic

  • "This cell isn't big enough for the three of us." "Well why doens't he leave". I love this clip. I have it at home, and watch it everyday.

  • I like when Jerry does his fake yawn.

  • lol too funny (Dean-- What were u doin done there!!"Jerry- "i was lonesome!!") lol

  • haha I've never seen Jerry Lewis before, this slapstick stuff is great! Only i can't hear at all what they're saying from 2:06-2:36. Thx for showing this!

  • lol its just all ad lib from there. they just forgot their lines and went along wit it. oh i wish they stil did those so good just lik back in those days.

  • This was no ad lib. They had it all planned. When you watch the entire show you're made to think that things are ad libbed. Do you really think that the director deliberatley changes cameras on Jerry? Or that a stage director gives wrong directions on purpose? The phony ad libbing is what gets our attention and makes us one with the artists.

  • i still think some of it was ad lib lol o well its still entertaining lol

  • Dean Marting and Jerry Lewis were one of this countries greatest comic duos. The chemistry of these two men (in my humble opinion) was unmatched.

  • it wasn't an ad lib, it was that dean just messed up the line. the other guy says "hey you, you ever packed a g on your hip when you copped a heist?!" to which jerry says "whaaaaa?"

(keep in mind that dean is famous for hating rehearsals, during his 70's variety show, he rarely rehearsed) dean then says "did you ever take it on the lam with a shamus who has a..) and that's where it's just incoherrant babble lol..he just forgot the line and ad libed the rest. made jerry laff!

  • the line was intentionally made to be unintelligible as it was some sort street talk not understood by everyone, my guess is that dean got the line as best as he could, but it just came out funny lol

  • you both are wrong! Dean's lines he says there were not scripted, that's why they start laughing.. was not originally in the skit!

  • the good old day's enjoyed the clip's thank you for playing them.

  • Hey funny clip, this is way back in the day of slapstick comedy!!! I reckon this particular episode of the Colgate Comedy Hour was originally done in colour as there's distinct faint vertical lines on the left side of the picture which is what is seen on those early RCA TK-40/41 colour cameras of the 50s.

  • what does dean adlib? something about a lamb? and what does the other man ask jerry to make sure he isn't a stool pigeon? the sound quality isn't the best on some of these old tv clips, but i'm not blaming the clipper. haha ;-)

  • I know, these old shows have really bad sound quality sometimes. I can't really tell what they're saying. I think it's just sort of supposed to be mumbo jumbo that doesn't make sense anyway. I wish I knew though

  • he said something about "being on the lam (means escape)" but I couldn't figure out the rest.

  • also something about a shamus, which is a private detective..so he's talking about escaping from a private eye.. but i can't figure out the other two words

  • @sarahsgirl85 I think he was saying on the "lam".

  • LMAO, they're too funny. ''now stop this nonsense''

    LMAO. wow.

  • RRRARRR RRARR RRARR! NOW STOP THIS NONSENSE. LOL
